“I've been wanting to try different omakase places in the LA area for a while now, and stumbled upon Omakase by Ozen online - and I'm glad I came! Reservations were made quickly and easily via Yelp, and I love that I was able to change my reservation time without much of a hassle. My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate after I took the MCAT, so we were extremely hungry when we got here. I think this place might have had valet out front, but we opted to just find street parking in the neighborhood for a ~5 minute walk (which worked out afterwards since it let us walk off our food!). The actual restaurant is a very small and quaint place; we sat at a table instead of the bar but I thought the decorations were very cute. Service was very fast and attentive. They handed us a menu as soon as we came in, and we ordered the $130 omakase - which was a pretty good deal for the quality of the food and the whole experience. I do have to say that I was not full after the meal (so my boyfriend and I ended up getting more food afterwards at a different place), but I did enjoy my time here. Definitely worth a try if you're celebrating because of the food and the service, but I personally don't think I'd come back for the omakase.“

“First time visiting Ocean Sushi, I had the “Sensual Pressure Roll” and “Salmon Handroll” , The salmon, and spicy bay scallop which melted in your mouth. The rice was just perfect on all of the pieces, not overly moist, yet firm and unadulterated. The spicy tuna were mild spicy and fragrant, the fresh salmon tasted better than anything I've had.The blue crab baked hand roll had all the flavors and real non-imitation crab was something very unique and worth a try.And new menu called, “Caribbean Roll” were above average, fresh albacore sashimi with spicy tuna and my favorite crispy onion; with house sauce and garnish that added more texture and flavor.Lastly the toro sushi seems basic, but they prove how good they are, melt and fresh. they made a something basic into something extravagant.All the servers are welcoming and friendly. “Susuru holds a special place in my heart. I’ve tried a number of items on their menus and everything is ???. I can’t stress enough about how good this ramen is. I’ve only known about Susuru for a month or so but have eaten here over 8 times. All of the broths are rich and authentic. The Thai coconut curry ramen is mind blowing and a generous serving. My go tos are the Miso and Tonkatsu. Add spice for extra flavor. I brought my coworkers here and everyone’s bowls were finished down to the last drop of broth. Easily one of the best ramens shops in LA. It’s got a great mom and pop atmosphere. Food comes out quick. What else can I say, I’m in love with Susuru. Anytime I want ramen in the future, I’m going to come here. Just thinking of it makes my mouth water. ?“
“My friends took me to Leona's sushi house earlier this week. It was last minute, for my birthday and we were able to get a table without a reservation! The decor and the mood was great. “Nozawa Bar was a great experience and we left very very very full. We booked a month ahead by phone and paid upfront. It's about $225 per person, and with drinks and tax, the bill totaled around $600. There were around 22 courses including dessert. The dishes were incredibly fresh and tasty. The most memorable courses were the Hokkaido Octopus, New Zeland Pink Lobster, Bluefin Tuna Akami, Santa Barbara Uni, Japanese Kinmedai, and the 3 different type of oysters (Kumiai, Kumamoto, Kusshi). There were however a few courses towards the end of the whole dinner that felt like filler pieces such as the Tamago, Maine Lobster, and Japanese Anago (sea eel) nigiri. I could have gone without those courses and felt the menu was a little overpacked. At then end, they gave us a passion fruit sorbet and hojicha tea which was the perfect way to end the dinner. Chef Fujita, his sous chefs, and the staff were very kind and lively. Dinner was very interactive because Chef Fujita made a lot of jokes and interacted with everyone. Dinner setting is also intimate as it is only 10 seats. Overall, great experience and would definitely come back!“

“Chef is from Osaka Japan, he made great shari (slightly sweeter side as compared to Tokyo edomae purist style), nonetheless it was good texture, temperature. Most of fish from Japan. Kinmedai was excellent. So was Aji from Osaka. Tuna is from Hokkaido, taste similar to Ohma tuna, but slightly difficult. Chef knows edomae style and textures of fish, either natural or farm raised. Hope he carries more like Awabi, akagai, kohada, and more hikarimono next time. It was pleasant sushi dining experience.“

Attention to detail was superb! I didn’t take any photos because they asked me to silence my phones (you can still take photos), but I wanted to be respectful and also focus on my taste buds and not my phone. Admittedly this place doesn’t look much from the outside (Weller Court could use some updates), but don’t be afraid to step inside. One suggestion for them is to have a sake pairing option as I am a sake lover. I did get their cold sake that ended up tasting wonderful, so I’m not complaining. As for price, I think it’s reasonable for an Omakase place like this. You’re really paying for the experience. Without drinks, I think it’s around $200 for a full course meal and tax/tip. All the dishes were explained and presented well but overall Morihiro just lacked that wow factor. I think I also just prefer a more intimate omakase experience.“

The waiter was very friendly and helpful in case we had any questions.The food ranges from decent to good. The Black Garlic Miso Ramen wasn't hot enough for me and way too salty. The tofu that I ordered as my protein was cold. The Lady Gaga sushi was a mixed bag. The toppings were a great combination of flavor but the tuna itself wasn't very good. I wouldn't order it again personally. That being said, we did really enjoy the Shrimp Tempura Cut Roll. It's not the best I've had but still very good. The Garlic Edamame as a starter was pretty amazing I have to say. Definitely get that! The Bluefin Tuna sushi we tried was also very good actually.I liked the ambiance inside: nice and clean with appealing decor. Staff was very friendly and we were told our food will take 10-15 mins to prepare due to the delicate and meticulous nature of preparation and honestly didn't mind. Can't rush good quality meal! Space had ample parking, spacious and even accommodate wheelchair accessibility. The prices are unbelievable and i went with 2 other friends and ended up ordering a lot of food. The atmosphere is great and authentic and your surroundings are pleasant and vibrant. Lots of people speaking japanese to the sushi chef and made the experience at the bar feel fun. i wish i got more pictures but we were starving but we wanted to try a little bit of everything. This place is great for family and friends and even a date at the bar for a fun time. make sure to on off hours or make a reservation if you can cause it can get packed in there. “My teenagers and I were impressed with the simplicity of flavors of all our dishes. We started off with an assorted sashimi plate that had 3 pieces each of tuna, salmon, kampachi, and Japanese scallops and a plate of scallop carpaccio. It was soo yummy that we ordered another plate of scallop carpaccio and then we felt like we just had to try the kampachi carpaccio. Sooo good and the scallops just melt in your mouth! For our main dishes, we decided to share the Spicy Tonkotsu with extra bamboo shoots and the Truffle Butter Tonkotsu. The broths were very flavorful, the noodles fresh, and the chasu was delicious. For dessert, the friendly staff recommended the house-made Shio Koji ice cream with black sea salt to help cleanse our palates. It was very light and definitely refreshing. And I also tried the Genmaicha tea which was very light, aromatic, and soothing. All in all this place is a must go-to when you're in Ktown. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and very helpful for suggesting menu items. This is definitely our family's favorite find of the year!“
