I requested scallions/green onions on my yellowtail roll and they did it without a problem. The owner was so warm and welcoming. She stopped at our table to talk to us and tell us a little about the restaurant (she owns it with her brother and husband, she had another sushi restaurant for 15+ years and they only source and sell super fresh fish) It’s incredible what great customer service can do. When the Packing House is just too packed, Rodeo 39 has so many more options without the large crowd making it a great food hall to come with friends who aren't very good at unanimously choosing a restaurant. My personal favorite places are Banh Xeo Boys for the Banh Xeo, Kare for their katsu curry, phoholic for pho (of course), Steel Pan Pizza for their mushroom pizza, and Shootz for their Kimchi Butter Shrimp. Honorable mentions are Tenori and the Mexican restaurant that unfortunately, I can't remember the name of. Grab your food and choose a nice spot on the patio or inside by the bar to grab a drink later and enjoy the variety of options they provide with relatively reasonable prices.“

Just on look alone, it looked like what you would see at a high priced sushi spot. They have 50% nigiri, so salmon is like $3.99 for 2 pieces. Tuna is $4.50 for 2 pieces and the most expensive is Otoro at like $15 for 2 pieces. Typically, a 50% off sushi sign would terrify me, and I would be lying if I said i wasn't skeptical the first time I went here but I assure you, the skepticism will be long gone after you see the sushi hit the table. It tastes incredible and it was so good that after going my first time, I went again 2 more times over the course of the next 2 weeks. This sushi spot is 50 minutes from where u live in Santa Monica and I plan to absolutely return soon. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND“

“Located in Buena Park, on Beach Blvd., just north of I-5, Kobe Gyukatsu is also known as Kobe Kyukatsu. Being a Japanese/Korean restaurant, they use those languages' different pronunciations of that same word. Word that means "beef cutlet," which is this place's specialty. They offer several levels of meat quality, all the way up to Wagyu A5, which will set you back $100 per person. Besides the expensive meat, they also offer much more affordable Japanese and Korean everyday foods, from Ramen to Udon, Bulgogi, all sorts of Donburi (rice bowl with beef, pork, chicken etc.) We had Katsu Curry (fried pork cutlet in curry sauce) and beef donburi (beef bowl with rice). The food was truly excellent. The meat was tender, and the portions were abundant. The cutlet was lightly fried and nanaged to be at the same time crispy and tender. Definitely one of the best Katsu Curry I've had in Orange County. Service was prompt and corteous. Highly recommended.“

Tonight we had the honor of meeting the owner/chef and his lovely wife. With his family fishing history of 200 years, I know he is committed to the very best. I don’t pretend to be an expert though I know quality.We brought my son with us tonight and his expression when having scallop nigiri delighted Chef Kazuma Yamasaki.We love their Fisherman Karaage which is a very unique style …Yamasaki fish and chips … and one of our go to dishes on every visit. Beyond that tonight we ordered the Premium Dinner Set, a Yamasaki Dinner set, and sweet shrimp.The fish melts in your mouth and is unlike any sashimi/sushi I have ever tried in the best possible way. You won’t find all the crazy cut rolls and sauces, though you will find all of their in house made sauces and soy sauce a perfect match for their fish. Sake, beer and sodas are available.We enjoyed talking with Chef Kazuma Yamasaki and acknowledged the distinctive freshness, varieties and quality of their fish. In speaking with his wife, Fumi Yamasaki, she shared a picture of their lovely family.The final delightful surprise of our meal was chocolate covered strawberries made by their daughter.Check out their hours and I highly recommend giving their amazing restaurant a try or a revisit. But Miss Shabu has the most friendly staff as they wrote on the menu notes on what foods I'm allergic to and which ones are good. They were very efficient with setting up our table of 16 and were flexible when we had less people than expected. The food was really good for a decent price. For dinner and drinks and tea, we spent about $50 and got 2 different soup bases, had many different types of sides, and plates on top of plates of meat. For $13 I got the teriyaki chicken combo with a drink that was served in a tray so you can eat in the car (which I did) but they have inside seating as well. The person at the counter gave off the energy that she is also the owner or at least the manager, but that's only because she seemed to have a command of the space and was very friendly. The ambiance was what you would expect from a fast casual lunch spot. Quick and orderly. The food was so tasty. Chicken was not chewy, which a lot of fast casual Asian restaurants are guilty of. They even give you some edamame on the side. I love edamame. Tokyo Grill gives your tummy a Tokyo Thrill. (Ownership can totally use that slogan. I won't even charge them for it. )“
