I am in North Carolina while writing this, I've been to this place a few times and can now definitely say it's one of the best in the country. I don't know how but it's better than the BBQ here, I've tried multiple places but the brisket at Slab is just so good. I am sure in Texas it's better, but for California it's definitely amazing and I am definitely coming back here to try more of the menu.
No. Nein! Nope! Food is a dismal failure. I spent over 100 dollars there and received undercooked, underseasoned, old, chewy, greasy, fatty meats and pasty, clumpy, underseasoned sides.Ordered the 40 dollar one rib, and it was dripping in fat and artery clogging grease. Some parts were tender, and other parts were chewy. For 40 bucks, I expect high end and quality. This was not it.. Chicken was undercooked and pink in some parts. Ok barbecue. The Texas-style brisket was tough and overcooked - it seemed like it was smoked yesterday and reheated before I got it. It wasn't too tasty, either. The baby back ribs - I don't know what style it was, maybe Kansas style - but it was just ok. It'd probably be bland if it wasn't slathered in barbecue sauce. I prefer Texas style, dry-rubbed and smoked spareribs, so I was very disappointed. I wouldn't go back but some less-particular people may like it
