“The Hostess was extremely helpful in making an accommodation since we ended up with fewer in our party and were initially seated at an extra-large table. Even though the restaurant was busy, they were able to move us to a more appropriately sized table. The service by Escardo was fantastic. The food was provided in a timely fashion, and all the food served was properly prepared and was delicious. We have eaten at the Left Bank in Menlo Park many times and the consistency in service and food cooked has been always on the mark. I absolutely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for positive restaurant experience.“
“I came here for the first time in 2017 to celebrate a friend's promotion. It was my friend's favorite place and has since also become my favorite place as well. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is reminiscent of a more sophisticated time in American history (think of a restaurant thank Frank Sinatra would eat at). In fact, the waiter that served us that night had mentioned that the Iron Gate was Frank Sinatra's favorite restaurant in the Bay Area and that he had served Sinatra on a few occasions. Whenever Sinatra played at the old Circle Star Theatre in San Carlos, he would ask his driver to take him to the Iron Circle afterwards.“
“The ambience is one of the greatest reasons why we keep returning. We missed Cameron's great service this time, but the young lady who helped us was great. Food , as always, was top notch. Only slight negative was there were more than one beverage choices not available, but listed on the menu.“

“Visited on a Saturday evening,without a reservation and it was understandably busy. We couldn't be seated for dinner so we opted for the bar but it was full (I know why!) So we walked around a bit had dinner elsewhere and returned about 1 hour later. Though it seemed to get busier, two seats at the bar freed up and we jumped in. It was totally worth the wait. The drinks were great! You can taste the craftsmanship in every drink. I'd definitely return, and this time with a dinner reservation.As a bonus, there was a live DJ and he was playing some good Spanish jams! (I was pleasantly surprised!). “This is a culinary delight and an absolute MUST dining experience in the super quaint "Main Street" area of San Mateo. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive - as if you were honored guests in their home. The food was incredible - truly something for everyone - and delicious. The wine list is extensive - they offer Caymus Cab by the glass; a rare occurence. The cocktails were well crafted. Start to finish...this was a meal and an establishment to remember. I will be back! You need to check this place out!!Parking: Immediately in front of the restaurant is a walkable promenade (no vehicular traffic) - 2nd & 3rd Streets offer limited street parking, some of which is restricted - much is taken up by restaurant outdoor dining "parklets". YOUR BEST BET is the Main Street Parking Garage. You only pay until 6 PM...it is free until 2 AM thereafter.Kid-friendliness: Not so much. This is definitely a "hey, mom & dad, take a few hours off! Get a sitter!" kinda place.Wheelchair accessibility: Accomodating - but give them a heads up ahead of time. One of our guests had a walker and staff graciously helped her get situated, and stowed the walker while we dined.“
“I don’t know why this restaurant doesn’t have a line outside the door! The food is always delicious and fresh. The menu is small but PERFECT. They change things up slightly seasonally and I’ve never eaten anything there that wasn’t 10/10.“
“Bistro Vida offered exactly the French Bistro experience we were looking for: Traditional items like the onion soup and Steak Frites were prepared as ordered (and as expected). Service was prompt and polite, without being overbearing. Prices were quite reasonable for the Bay Area. Parking was readily available. (We had lunch on a Saturday.)“
