“We finally visited the sacred birthplace of "Californian Cuisine"! We were at the cafe which is lively and beautiful. The dishes are refreshing, on the lighter side. The use of citrus in salad and even the meyer lemons bits in the sauce topping on chicken brighten the whole meal. The dish that hit me the most though is the personal size chocolate cake. You need to order in advance with $25 price tag but it is worth trying. You can taste the quality right there! Next time we would like to come trying the full experience for a special occasion :)“

“Lunchtime before a performance at nearby Zellerbach Hall turned up a hidden gem in Julia's. The ratatouille, which I am a big fan of and therefore picky about, was seasoned traditionally, the ingredients and consistency were all true to the classic version. I was more than satisfied. The gluten free chickpea panisses (a tower of 3 round chickpea "fries") were a delightful and delicious first, so scrumptious in fact that I quickly found a recipe to make these popular South of France favorites at home. Creme brulee with a generous crust of caramelized sugar topping a creamy custard, another classic and favorite of mine was shamelessly gobbled with gusto with no manners whatsoever. The table service from Natalie was cheerful, discreet and attentive on the Saturday we visited. The ambiance was refined, the dining area dominated by a large framed mirror and carved ceiling. One star is missing from what could have been five due to the rather cool reception from the seating hostess. We found her a tad haughty. We will return undaunted, however. What a special discovery and worth the trip across the bay from Marin.“

I'm giving a 4 because it's my first time there and I'd like to see what's next on their seasonal menu.I went here for my birthday so my media has no labels. I was pleasantly surprised with each of the dish that we had. Each item had their own uniqueness to it and I love how original the flavor combos were. I personally like going to restaurants that have an assembly operation in front of you because it's cool to see how these dishes beautifully come together.I will say the dessert was a very refreshing yet satisfying touch. Hibiscus ice cream on top of a rose apple with a buttermilk foam. Like...just wow.Highly recommend for a special occasion or just treat yourself. Well done chef, I'll be coming back.“

“Very excellent food all around! Pretty reasonably priced with a tasting menu of $55! I loved EVERYTHING! we had the bread, tuna, duck and each of the desserts. The duck with marrow was especially delicious!! The Ceasar was elevated and crunchy.Atmosphere is very small and cozy, which is not super great when there is a large table of 12 next to you which was incredibly loud and kind of awkward when you're trying to talk and someone else is giving a speech so I felt like we had to leave earlier. Same for the couple next to us.Also, when asking for a box to go, make sure you specify what you want because they did not box everything up, which is a shame because I had a lot leftover( they did not give me the greens or anything under the duck , only leftover duck leg and marrow which barely anything lol.)Will definitely come back nonetheless.“

“Chez Maman EastHospitality - 4/5Selection - 4/5Quality of Food - 4/5Overall - 4/5Had a quick round table in the city, and asked the local’s where a great spot was for a nice meal. Chez Maman East was the answer and they did not disappoint. My colleague and I were welcomed in and seated right away. It was early, so they weren’t too busy. The waiter was quick to serve us and was very informative. Even suggested a few items they were known for. My colleague took his suggestion and got the Sole. He was very happy he took the suggestion. It was cooked beautifully and had great flavor. To the point he licked the plate clean!I chose the bell pepper soup and their famous burger. The soup was delightful and fit perfect on this rainy day. The burger was everything everyone had told me. The burger was cooked correctly, juicy, and tender. The add-ons were just icing on the cake.If we were to suggest anything to the restaurant to improve on, it would be have fresh bread. The baguette we ordered was dry and like chewing leather. Went great with the soup, but by itself was not enjoyable.Overall, we would return to try the rest of the menu.Parking: Just your standard street parking. Might have to walk a little once you park.“

“What an incredible find! By all rights this should be a Michelin 1 star restaurant. Funky, vegetable forward and friendly like AL's Place (RIP) or Cafe Olli in Portland. The cocktails were dialed-in and delicious - nothing too sweet. The dishes were symphonies of both known and surprising flavors. Was that pickled cucumber noodles under the crab salad? I don't know, but I know it was delicious! Is that fish sauce in the beef tartare? Yes or no, it's incredible! The criticism I see online of this place is that the dishes are small - they aren't, for the quality. We were more than full with four dishes between two people, which in a regular restaurant would be 2 apps and 2 entrees. That's entirely reasonable! MY only criticism is that I wish there were more dishes served heated. The Fregola was so comforting - it needs some friends! If you have a last-minute date night, this is on a very short list of excellent options. Don't miss it!“

“Classic French dishes were on par or better than those we enjoyed in Paris recently at 4.5+ rated restaurants, particularly the rabbit, a standout that all five of us agreed was the dish of the night. Duck and fish were very good. Service was very attentive, personable and fun, especially Jean Francois who had us laughing and provided excellent recommedations. Escargot was possibly the best we've had. White Meursault Burgundy wine was also exceptional. Dessert soufflé gran marnier was delicious (we finished 3 of them!) Entrance was through the Cornell Hotel de France, very pretty and clean, greeted at the door. We didn't feel rushed at all. We also visited the very lively Starlite Room cocktail lounge nearby after dinner and parked in the Union Square garage about 1.5 blocks away. Happy to see how much cleaner and safer this large parking garage is from 18 months ago. Strong security presence on every floor and at entrances, no more odors or trash. Felt very safe even leaving near 11 pm. Nightlife was hopping.“

Great place to have breakfast before exploring local attractions.Very nice corner restaurant with European flare, good parking and fun energy. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating with lovely atmosphere. Great menu with reasonable prices. The food was excellent and filling. We enjoyed a Croque Madame, Cinnamon French Toast as well as Crab Cake Benedict. All dishes hit the spot perfectly. For 4 people expect to pay around $100 with soft drinks and coffee. Food was prepared relatively quickly and served warm. There is a small menu for kids as well featuring usual favorites. The service was slow, not attentive or interested. While the host seemed very accommodating the waitress was the complete opposite. Much training is required to elevate the customer experience in the dining room. If customers sit down and wait for 20 minutes, it feels like they are being ignored. It is not a good feeling. Perhaps starting them of with some drinks is manageable even in the most busiest of places. Again, food was great and that is what ultimately brings us back. There is a big parking lot free of charge just behind the building with at least 2 spots for persons with disabilities.Kid-friendliness: Has Kids menu“
