I returned recently to Pomella at the end of Piedmont avenue in Oakland. In the mood for tagine, I ordered the chicken plate which was served piping hot in a giant bowl of couscous with chunks of carrot added to the mix. Alongside came a mini dish of picante garlicky chermoula sauce. The chicken was tender with just the right amount of seasoning. From the friendly greeting as soon as we entered, to the halva for desert, we had a great experience at Pomella. We ordered many dishes and share plates, so everyone could taste each dish. Each menu item had its own wonderful flavor. The eggplant was a particular standout - and the chicken added to our hummus.
