“I don't live in the area. I live over by Concord, but I had met a friend for a late breakfast and I wanted some good bread and something sweet for later. After this visit, I can't wait to go back! Rye bread: so good! It's hearty and real bread, not like what you find on grocery shelves. It's not a strong rye, which I do love, but with its milder flavor profile I found it works with more foods. If I understood correctly, they don't make the bread and another baker supplies it under what I assume is a contract as it has a Primrose label. ***** Bourbon Maple Eclair ---- I can't stop thinking about it! So delicious!! The puff pastry was perfect. Real puff pastry isn't rubbery and too often that's what you get. This isn't just lazily filled with whipped cream like 90% of places when you get an eclair, it's half filled with a perfect custard and whipped cream. Now, as I write this I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't tell you all this, as then you'll go there and buy it all. But on the other hand, if you go and keep up love and demand this excellent bakery keeps doing their thing. My sincere compliments to the pastry chef! Chocolate cake: I got one of the personal sized, though really good for 2 people or 2 servings round cakes. I honestly don't know which cake I ended up with - could have been the salted caramel in. The sponge was light with a good flavor, the frosting etc had a good balance of sweetness. I recommend highly. It was the best cake of this style I've had in a long time. Presentation - all their offerings look amazing and if getting desserts to share with friends these will make a lovely visual presentation and delight the palates. Oops! No photos. “Great breakfast and lunch cafe. The owners are so awesome and caring. Their sandwiches are fantastic and of corse their bagels are good. This is a great place for the kids to go to after school as well. They have drinks, cookies, muffins and smoothies. Great local place!“
“I picked up an assortment of mini cakes from Gene's Fine Foods to give them a try. These are absolutely incredible! Both the cake and the frostings are light and fluffy and incredibly delicious. I would be very stressed getting a full sized cake, because it might be eaten by the time I got to the other end of Pleasanton.“

“OMG! I was lucky enough to discover Passion Pastry when they have set up their pop-up at Nordstrom in Walnut Creek in the past. I lucked out right before this Thanksgiving when I happened to walk by the 2nd floor escalators and found the display. I loaded up on two large gift boxes (original Alfajores and one mix sampler), a container of the Mexican Wedding cookies, a loaf of banana pecan loaf and the coconut blonde brownie. I took them to Hawaii this past Thanksgiving and presented the gift boxes and Mexican Wedding Cookies to my sister. She is an avid baker and she was thrilled with the treats. (She is recovering from surgery and was staying clear of solid food, but 'Get Well' Mexican Wedding cookies are the exception, right ? ) My favorite is the Alfajores which just literally melt in your mouth. How do you guys make them so buttery??? I kept the loaf and the brownie for myself and froze them since I would be gone for 10 days. I just toasted a couple of slices of the loaf, and despite my freezing of the loaf, they were delicious and moist. Super flavorful, and I am so happy that they kept so well. I didn't get pics of the boxed items, but I did take a couple of pics of the items I kept. My photos do not do these treats justice, but believe me, they are AMAZING. I will be ordering before I head back to Hawaii in a few weeks (it's the only thing my sister wants for Christmas!). It's a family-run business and the mom and her kids help out. This is one of those local small businesses that you need to support! Brava!“

When it came to the design, she provided us with great insight and expertise. She was extremely punctual and instilled a great deal of confidence in us. Regarding the cake itself, it was beautiful and caught the eye of all our guests. Additionally, it not only looked amazing but tasted amazing! Our guests loved the assortment of flavors. “Our group came here to get dessert and snacks after lunch at Kura revolving sushi bar. It was really fun to grab a tray and go through the display cases full of pastries and treats. That was a fun experience before we even had anything to eat. The service was fine (nothing really notable). For hanging around afterwards, there is a standing countertop, one cushion bench, and some outside sofas. The swiss rolls were like a cloud in terms of texture and the coconut / chocolate flavors were both subtle / nuanced. The custard tarts were incredible - the custard part was just barely set so it melts in your mouth, which is a pleasing contrast to the buttery, flaky, crunchy crust. The wheat bread was also really light. We would definitely come back for those tartlets and to try their cafe and cakes, which both looked amazing but we didn't want to overload on our first visit.“

Delivery was prompt, as well, and it was easy to work with SFBS in the lead up to the wedding as we placed our order. Can't recommend them enough if you need gf wedding desserts!“
