I went with a group of friends, we all ordered something different so that we could try all the different items. We ordered the fried chicken with greens and Mac and cheese everything was very good. We also ordered the smothered fried chicken with rice and Mac and cheese , the gravy was full of flavor. The last meal we ordered was the fried catfish and it was full of flavor. this restaurant is in a very lowkey, almost hidden spot in old downtown. if you dont know its there you'd definitely miss it, but the aesthetic inside is very nice with a lot of african heritage influence. now to the food, i got fried chicken yams & collard greens and it was *chefs kiss* really good! i definitely plan on going again

The Original House of Soul is in a spot located off the beaten path, next to the Underground Tasting Room. I also recommend popping in there. The food is good, but I would say that much of the items you may want might not be readily available on the menu. No pork chops were available when we went. A bunch of their sides were not available. The fish and the smothered chicken was pretty good. The greens and I'd really like to see this place thrive, so check them out!
