Museum Cafes are the grand secret- fancy delicious foods in any city can be found at the museum cafe- and thanks to a constant stream of diners, the food is fresh as well. No need for a reservation- and ample seating, always available. My fresh, crisp radicchio salad with blue cheese, walnut, juiced lemon dressing, slices of grapefruit- and edible purple flower- was beautiful to look at and a crunchy, crisp delight. My husband and I were spending the day checking out the de Young museum and the California Academy of Sciences across the way. Food options were limited so we popped into de Young Cafe for a quick entree. The service is fast casual where you order and pay at the counter, while someone will bring out your food to your table. recommended. tasty sandwiches and hot soups and a good selection of desserts and drinks. terrific server service-- very polite and efficient. importantly, they have INDOOR and OUTDOOR tables and lots of seats, so you can enjoy the nice weather outside or stay inside! and of course their art collection is nearby and their gift shop has lots of good stuff.
