I was originally referred to Cathy's because they are one of the only bakeries in SoCal that make traditional longevity peaches "Shou Tao" steamed buns shaped like a peach. Unfortunately as a specialty item I didn't have enough time to order them-so it you're looking for longevity peaches for a birthday call ahead and order in advance. This bakery used to have several locations but now this is the only one. Located in a strip mall it can be easy to miss. It's a basic mom & pop bakery nothing fancy and they take cash only. The man behind the counter helping speaks limited English he prefers Mandarin. I came especially for their famous crispy layer sponge cake. But beware this cake does not come smaller or single slices but only comes in quarter sheet (16 slices) and larger sizes.

Bought a strawberry cake for my nephews 2nd birthday that was enough for 20 people. Really good portion sizes because I'm pretty sure it could feed 30 people. My family and I were very loyal to Cathy's bakery growing up and would go often to get our birthday cakes there. I'm not sure if my taste has changed but the cake seemed a bit more dry than I remember? It needed a bit more cream compared to how much cake was in it.
