“Very nice place. The outside looks like a ski lodge with fake snow on the roof. Inside is a dimly lit log cabin with wood shavings on the floor and a life sized stuffed bear in a display case by the waiting area. The red cabbage salad was good but overly salty as was the salad dressing. The cheese bread was very flavourful but oily. More butter than cheese. Dinner was a steak and lobstertail combo. The steak was a reasonable sized portion and well cooked. The lobstertail and side potato were enormous, perfectly cooked. There's a reason things are called lumberjack sized. Even the coffee mugs are oversized. Everything was delicious including the chocolate mousse dessert which was the perfect size. Just be aware there are no vegetarian or vegan options here. It's a meat and fish eaters eatery. Well worth it IMO. Would definitely go back.“

“The lounge is conveniently located within Hilton San Gabriel. It was spacious and comfortable. The staff were inviting, friendly and extremely efficient. They took wonderful care of us. For lunch we ordered: clam chowder, Caesar salad, beef taquitos with guacamole dip and Parma ham and mozzarella flat bread. All the dishes were perfectly seasoned and delicious. My only two suggestions would be to serve crackers with the soup and maybe change the flatbread sauce to a marinara. I had an old fashioned with my meal which I really enjoyed. The drink was well balanced. The lounge is a non tipping restaurant. It’s odd I know, at least for me it is. The tip was already added to the final bill and we paid approximately 65+“

“The church-turned-restaurant has a clear sky above, creating a lazy and comfortable environment. The service staff kindly introduced the menu of the day. California cuisine is a fusion of Asian and Western food characteristics. The complimentary bread is very similar to Asian double cheese bread, and the cheese taste is very fragrant. Strawberries & burrata cheese is like a variation of the classic Italian mozzarella cheese and tomato salad. It is quite beautiful and delicious. The Day Boat Scallops have a crispy topping and a tender center. It has a rich texture and is paired with spiced pumpkin puree, caramelized carrots and vegetables. , gooseberry, with diverse and harmonious flavors. “I made a Resy reservation to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Street parking was accessible and convenient a few steps away from the location. Once we walked in, I was greeted by first name by the host behind the bar who directed us to follow Lisa, our server, to our table for two in the garden patio. Once seated, she asked if we'd like to turn on the heated lamp, which we appreciated. We ordered the Hunan BBQ Pork Ribs (so meaty and smoky), Chilled Sesame Peanut Noodles (which my wife commented would be an ideal dish during a warm summer night), Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi (served on a toasted, pillowy brioche bun), paired with a side of the Shoestring Fries. Lastly we enjoyed an unexpected gift from the kitchen - Shanghai Triple Onion Noodles, which was a warm dish in contrast to the other cold noodles. As a thoughtful gesture, the bartender, offered us two glasses of champagne to acknowledge our occasion. To cap off our unforgettable meal, we ordered the Hochija Tres Leches and Honeymoon Bread Pudding. The perfect conclusion to a delicious and well-thought out dinner. For a location with a history dating back to the prohibition era (informed by Lisa), I'm glad to see it's continuing it's life as a bar with an innovative kitchen. As I mentioned last night, the dinner was great but the service was even better! Thank you for making our anniversary dinner memorable :)“

“A very pretty friend and I decided to try Bestia on a Thursday at 5pm. After arriving and entering an outdoor patio that leads into the indoor seating, we couldn't help notice the bright blue wall, nicely trimmed tree, outdoor string lights all coming together to make a quiet eating experience but my pretty woman friend wanted us to experience the inside. Inside was livelier, more people, closely positioned tables, and an open kitchen facing the eating area. Cool modern music that's not too loud. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the coconut red chili oil scallops garnished with herbs and a slice of strawberry. I was pleased with the combination of flavors. Then we shared the bone marrow pasta, which was packed with savory flavors and interesting soft textures. It was delicious. Of course, we had to try the herb ceasar salad everyone raves about when talking about Bestia, and the hype is all true. We then shared a marguarita pizza and let me say this, despite the overly salted tomato sauce, the napolitano style crust elevated the rest of the pizza ingredients. I had old sunglasses: a tequila blanco cocktail with sweet citrus flavors all well balanced, I couldn't just have 1. My pretty friend had unsweetened ice tea, which was refreshing with a subtle fruit flavor. For dessert, we shared the chocolate dessert with a crispy sweet and salty crust that complimented the rich thick chocolate mouse that was just the right amount of sweet. It's the kind of place you take an attractive friend you really, really like. Recommend you plan at least a couple of weeks ahead to get a table because this place has a big following.“

“I've been to Skaf's a couple of times now. As many reviewers note, the cheese roll is a must get if you love and respect yourself and your happiness. Queso fresco and feta fried in the crispiest wrapper is a match made in heaven.Grape leaves are also a wonderful appetizer, especially if you're like me and could accidentally put away 12 of this if not paying attention.I often find falafel to be disappointing in restaurants and much better homemade, but Skaf's falafel would give even the best homemade falafel a run for its money. The texture is exactly how it should be - crisp, crunchy exterior with a soft (but not gummy) interior. The falafel is also jam packed with flavor and surrounded by insanely well executed tabbouleh (perfectly seasoned), cabbage salad, hummus, and babaganouj. Their wraps are solid as well, but the veggie combo plate is where it's at!Lebanese coffee on the side on a rainy day at Skaf's. Kindest servers as well“

“It's really hard for me to give a full 5 stars. Creative cocktails? Check. Imposing whisky collection? Check. Loud music blasting so hard you have to shout your order to the bartender and shout to the person in front of you? Check.I feel like it's a ton of wasted potential. Disregard my inner cocktail nerd wanting to talk about alcohol with the bartenders but it's even hard to talk to the person sitting next to you.I'll probably try again tomorrow and update my review afterwards. All of that said, the drinks are very good so try it even if you end up just drinking them in silence.“

“5 stars for the enchanting old-school atmosphere of this cozy establishment. 5 stars for beautifully made cocktails by skilled bartenders. 5 stars for friendly service and knowledgeable servers. The sole reason I'm deducting a star is for the total lack of non-meat dinner options. I made an exception and had a salmon caesar salad that was very delicious, but I so wish they'd throw a vegetarian a proverbial bone. It certainly won't stop me from coming back for a classy drink, but it would make it a hell of a lot easier for me to stick around after I've finished it.“

“Food was great the only thing was that we saw breakfast items on the website menu and we were excited to have breakfast there but when we got there it was breakfast buffet and a dinner/lunch menu. Normally we wouldn't mind but we were craving very specific items and getting paying for a $40 per person buffet and a $20 buffet for our two year old who eats small portions just didn't make sense for us. Seems like the brunch might benefit folks with older kids or those looking to have cocktails with their meals, which wasn't for us. Fun place for a brunch date, breakfast brunch or girls brunch though!“

“This was the perfect pit stop at mine and hubs' date night. We were really going to the Ice House but dipped in here for a quick foodie / drinkie "pre-game." I believe this is family owned and service was every bit like being at your friend's moms house for all the attentiveness. I had a taco de birria and it was deelish!! The consommé was savory but not overpoweringly so. Hubs had a chicken soft taco that looked good. Chips and salsa were tasty and beer was cold!“

“This place is very cool. Aside from the somewhat kitschy "secret" entrance (which was probably much more "in" 10 year ago), they really do create a unique cocktail experience. From the creative menus, perfectly balanced drinks, glass where, and presentation--they really have it dialed in. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. And even the food menu, despite being somewhat limited, left us very happy. Definitely not a weekly hangout, but worth discovering for yourself.“

“purposely came due to the nostalgic aspect of it being in the movie Halloween III. super cool vintage vibe just like from the Tom Atkins scene in the movie. great beers on tap and clean bathroom. bartender had a very nice British accent and was very accommodating. a buddy of mine was with me and we got to hang out with some of the bar regulars. they shared stories about the area and gave us some real nice recommendations in regards to film locations. we took some pics with the bartender and regulars before making our way to the famous church from the movie THE FOG. definitely stop by and grab some drinks if you're in the area !!“

“You guys, this place is awesome! Our party of 6 tried several things from the menu and everything was fantastic. Our bottle of sake was awesome and so was the service. This is a cozy romantic darkly lit space that you should definitely try! Nadia was our server and her recommendations were on point. We can't wait to come back for date night! “The place have been on my tagged list to try and I finally dropped in for lunch with my aunt and stuffed ourselves silly with yummy food & fabulous drinks. HIGHLY recommend!FOOD: They have reasonable lunch specials available from which we ordered the chicken enchiladas & al pastor street taco. Both were great & very tasty. I also had a craving for chilaquiles so we ordered that off the regular menu and my cravings were very well satisfied. We forgot to order the highly recommended shrimp empanadas but that’s a perfect excuse for us to go back soon!DRINKS: I mean they are truly one of the highlights of our meal. The signature “La Sexy Michelada” was one of the best I’ve had. It literally had a whole half of a mango seasoned with chamoy & tajin balanced on a tamarind candy stick in a large glass mug liberally rimmed with chamoy & tajin. The michelada itself was perfectly made IMHO. My aunt ordered the Margarita Flight and she thought every single one was delicious & unique. Her personal fave was the cucumber margarita & mine was the mango margarita.“

“First off, the prices are pretty reasonable for the area. In the Arts District where you can expect your coffee to be $7, $9ish for a full cocktail is not bad! I've enjoyed everything here, the fried chicken in particular was well-seasoned. The only thing I thought was meh was the fried broccolini, the batter was a little too heavy for me so I didn't finish it.You seat yourself and can either order using the QR code at your table or try to flag someone down, but mobile order seems faster. There is also self-serve water. My only suggestion is that sometimes it can get quite sunny so would be nice to have some kind of shades when the sun is getting low and get in your eyes.Update: sounds like the shade issue has been resolved since I've last gone! Thanks Théron!“
