Zongzi House Chinese •
1505 S Winchester Blvd, San Jose

“Take it from a Hong Kong kid...these are seriously legit zongzi that taste just like the cantonese ones I grew up with. Definitely above your typical market rates, but I promise these will be true to the OG flavors. It's mostly a food pick-up type of service where you walk up to a shared space and ring a doorbell to have an aunty bring out your stuff.Online ordering was how I did it, but you can also call/text an order over the phone. The ordering process is a bit unusual in that you have to plan these ahead of time (by about 3-days or so depending on time of week) then wait for a confirmation text on the day of. Unfortunately, impromptu cravings must likely be held at bay. Sometimes you can short-notice stuff if they have leftovers, but that's defintely a gamble. With either planning or luck, you'll then walk off with a hefty bag of deliciousness. You can have the option of getting them freshly cooked or frozen (for stocking up).The zongzi are well packaged and tightly wrapped with color-codings to the string to separate the fillings from each other. It's a bit cryptic, but you'll notice those correspond with the pictures on their ordering site. Descriptions of the fillings are true to their amount and pretty well packed with goodness (none of the mostly-rice-zongzi here). After cracking the first one open and taking my first bite, it was like that Ratatouille moment with Anton having flashbacks to his childhood (but like the Chinese version). Filled with delicious aromas and rich succulent glory, with not a dry spot in (culinary) sight. If that hasn't convinced you to at least try these buggers, I'm not sure what will!“

“Brought my cousin visiting from Taiwanese here and she gives the Taiwanese stamp of approval! Also brought my Taiwanese parents here and they liked it a lot and said they’d want to come back again! The wonton noodle soup is really good. The soup has lots of fried shallots and thin celery, which makes the soup super aromatic! Servers are kind, service is fast.“

“Didn't realize there was a Boiling Point in the Bay Area. Only had BP when I was living in Seattle. We ordered:#3 korean bean paste soup#6 milk cream curry without creamI consistently order the curry hot pot. I thought the Seattle location was a bit better, but it was still good.Green tea was on the sweeter side.Staff is friendly. Comparing to Seattle BP locations, I would prefer Seattle, but when I have a craving for BP, this will do the trick!Parking spots are tight, but shouldn't an issue to find in the large plaza.“

“After running errands all Saturday morning, I wanted to sit down and enjoy a nice lunch. We stopped in Taiwan and it was fabulous. As soon as we walked in we were seated and service was amazing. Lunch was not pricey and it included, soup, salad entree and tons of rice. I even got to take some home. Before we even decided on our entree, waitress asked what type of soup we wanted, Service was great and food was hot and enjoyable. I was surprised to not see the big elaborate flower decor, but understandable. Very clean and organized. Highly recommend.“

“The Thai didn't come with coconut so it automatically rates lower for me than other places. However, the spice level was significantly better than other places. I would say it actually gets to 1/5 of a Thai-eye chili. Service was still cheeks, maybe that's just standard for places like this.“

I have yet to completely finish a regular (generous) portion, but I also order the Ramen noodle extra. We prefer the Beef and Tomato soup but have tried others and they are also good. Each bowl/pot comes with a plentiful assortment of veggies, seafood and meat. They even have boba tea and it's great!“

“It's one of my local hotspots. I've been eating here since pre Covid. Good thing the business survived because this place has the hot Mongolian beef broth that I like. It's not too thick and not too much. Just enough portion for 1 person. Overall service is good. They have milk tea also. Recommended the England milk tea.“
