“Did I just land in Mumbai? Basanti is as real as it gets. My local hangout and could eat here everyday - sometimes hitting this place up 3-4x per week (I’m not the only one - the number of Uber Eats guys who show up at dinner time is insane and at times, I’m the odd one out in a restaurant full of Mubaians). This place holds it own in a smaller community with no shortage of restaurants and located on the other side of the railroad tracks, literally, where many tourists venture/land given the train station and location of Mission SanJuan. Everything cooked to order (love that I can hang with the locals - authentic staff - and handle the same, if not more spice then they especially for a white chick from the Midwest) including no spice for little people, like my twin grandkids who devour the buttered naan and tandoori chick. The owner, first generation (I think) and the nicest most humble guy (he recognized me at another San Juan hangout then bought my glass of wine) just wants you to have the most pleasurable dining experience enjoying cuisine he’s passionate about. My favs: buttered naan, roasted beet salad, lentil soup, and chicken korma, extra spice. The world’s a big place so get out there…or at least venture to the other side of the train tracks or even stay home (#ubereats) and reap the same benefits of good food and good company!“
“We were hungry for tacos. Food was good, enough to satisfy the hunger. Tacos were small for the $3 per taco, but we enjoyed them. “What a great find! Chef John recently catered our 80-person wedding - providing appetizers, main courses (buffet style w/ a carving station), and our dessert (a cake / croquembouche combo). Chef John is a seasoned pro and made choosing our menu a breeze. Everything was absolutely delicious, and our guests gave us tons of compliments on the overall experience. Our dessert was the ultimate show stopper - a combination of a traditional American wedding cake and a French pièce montée (croquembouche). We're so fortunate to have found Chef John and had the opportunity to work with him to make this day special. The price was also outstanding given what a traditional catering company would charge, whereas our food was far more elevated and tasted anything like a wedding buffet. “I didn't know i could LOVE indian food until i visited Kiaan's. Oh my good gravy..... So tasty!!! I do not do spicy AT ALL so appealing to my taste buds can be challenging. Amrit couldn't have been more accommodating and assured me i would be happy. He was right. The chicken curry was my favorite. It was so creamy and smooth and delicious. The naan was perhaps the best i have had...loaded with butter and garlic flavors. The service could not be more excellent; the perfect mix of friendly and prompt and so comfortable. I know the restaurant is owner/ family operated and the attention to detail and care shows. Fine dining complete with white tablecloths and napkins. So very elegant and yet pricing was so reasonable!!I know they are now open 7 days a week and i cannot wait to come back with my husband! Such a wonderful addition to Talega in San Clemente. “Moved away a few years back and happened to be in the area wanting a sandwich. Thought to myself "Why not go to Moe's?"Walked in and the namesake himself, Moe, was jaw-dropped that I had walked in. It was as if no time had passed! Great greeting and a great chat to start off the visit!Went to order my sandwich and the same crew from "back in the day" was there making sandwiches. After chatting with the guys for a few, my order for an 8" Triple Stack was in.The Triple Stack is one of their "signature" sandwiches, comprised of Ranch, Turkey, Ham, Roast Beef, Cheddar, Tomatoes, Onions, Black Olives, Lettuce.
