“We were very happy we stopped in for lunch. The chopped liver appetizer and the tongue and pastrami sandwich were fantastic. The matzo ball soup was somewhat disappointing (but I am somewhat spoiled with a lifetime of fantastic, homemade soup) that had a ridiculously humongous matzo ball. The "light lunch for one" combo was enough food for an entire day and anything but light!“
“Been coming here for a few years. Great spot and affordable. We usually get a breakfast plate, stack of pancakes, two coffees and one OJ for around $35. Not bad and food is hot, delicious and at our table in five minutes. Diner vibes with nice people.“
“it was my first time here with my husband and friend from out of town and it was the best experience hands down. service was awesome and the two ladies at the front were lovely, then our food…… the best avocado ‘toast’ i’ve ever had. it was called the elaine and i added cream cheese to it 10/10.“
“I'm just ashamed at the racist reviews bashing this business because the owner/workers speak Russian. I happen to know the owner and she couldn't be more Ukrainian. From Odesa to be exact. The store has many Ukrainian, Russian and Jewish choices for food. It is not an educated secret that their peoples have been sharing the same cuisines for much longer than either now country has existed. Ignorance speaks without knowing. To be mad because they speak Russian is such a type of speech. Many Ukrainians speak Russian. In some areas of Ukraine, Russian is only spoken. Unfortunately they have received the same type of discrimination there as I'm seeing in these one star reviews. America is a country full of immigrants and diversity. Many have fled from their homes for a better life. The nostalgia of home (no matter how good or bad) does not equal a support of one leaders choice. Nor should that come into matter when reviewing groceries. It is unheard of to post one star reviews for African American businesses because of their prior nationality or because they spoke Swahili in the store. They are not responsible for many of their African leaders committing genocide. I don't see how this is different attacking Ukrainian or even Russian Americans. The store is small, but has a decent selection of your average Ukrainian/Russian deli items. I always come here for my Alex salami, dadu ice cream, kifer, and many other items. A great place to come when your missing a taste of old home. This area has a large community of Russian and Ukrainians; many of which are tight knit and many of the customers here are those frequent faces who have been shopping here for years. After visiting the store several times, they too became warm to me. The store does have a slightly Soviet feel as do any of the other Slavic grocery stores/delis in the Los Angeles area. They are not owned or operated by the new generation. These workers and owners immigrated to America to work so their children could have a better life. I would not constitute a matrsyoshka of Putin as an outright support of him, but rather a nostalgic piece of history. It's a shame to read these reviews of attacks and hate in a land of acceptance, free speech, and equal opportunity.(I have reported the reviews and hopefully they will be removed soon)“
“What a neighborhood gem! A great little store with a good deli counter, a nice selection of candy and basic grocery items. It's got a nice relaxed vibe, friendly staff and a beautiful back patio and a pizza oven setup! Will definitely be coming back with friends for pizza night.“
“A favorite of mine. Beautiful, thoughtfully crafted and big wide open space with indoor and outdoor dining.Great staff. I love the groceries they carry along with the natural wine corner. There's an awesome book aisle as well. But the food...consistent and delicious.Pizza, burgers, short rib plates, wings, salad, breakfast burritos...SO TASTY!They have coffee, ice cream, beer, wine, etc.“
“This place stays busy around lunchtime. So I suggest placing your order by phone if you don't like to stand in line. The cashiers are friendly and take orders fast. The place is neat and very clean. They have a huge variety of drinks, chips and dessert. The prices are along oar with every other deli. They have a nice variety of sandwiches. If you want a salad they make them fresh. They have a wide variety of bread and ingredients you can add to your sandwich. They also have hamburgers, turkey burgers and fries. You can order your sandwich hot or cold. The food tastes really good.“
“Giant portions, tasty food, classic diner menu. This is really nice restaurant and a go to spot if you’re feeling like diner food. The soup and sandwich combo is perfect. Pastrami is delicious. Highly recommend this spot, just make sure you bring a big appetite!“
“Canter’s Deli is an LA classic and a must visit for anyone who loves that old school deli feel. All the staples are on the menu and the old timey look of the inside rounds out the experience. Food is very solid if not a bit overpriced. Bakery is by weight for a lot of items so expect to pay more than you think. Parking is free in the lot next to the building if you are eating. Service isn’t the best on most of our visits, but the people watching makes up for it!“
“This is my go-to place for anything related to Italian cuisine. Any authentic Italian ingredient; they will have. Also, their lasagna might the best I've had in LA. I'm from NYC, and place makes me feel like I'm Little Italy in Manhattan.“
