“Honestly, these are some of the nicest people I have ever met.We had an accident on the freeway and we reserve this hotel room and the state patrol gave us a ride over here to the hotel. It’s just next-door. The hotel would not let us stay in the lobby because they would not allow us to check in until 3 o’clock and we arrive at about 1030 in the morning. if you want, you can check my review of the hotel that I posted on Google maps as well.This little donut shop knew what happened to us and said we could stay in the lobby as long as we needed to to wait until they allowed us to check in at 3 o’clock today. She gave us a free donut and we bought sandwiches and more donuts and are very appreciative of their kindness. This is definitely a good place to start for good donuts and sandwiches and ice cream. “I've been coming to Mary's donuts since 2012 back at their old location in Santee. It's really great that they have branched out and have a store in Lakeside now.Parking is a little weird. They have a lot in the back but if you're lucky you can get a spot on the street I saw they have deli and breakfast lunch menus so I'll have to stop in and try them.Donut case is always impressive on what they offer but I usually stick through my usual order of a maple bar. I decided to get an apple, fritter and man are they ginormous! Honestly, the size of your face and they taste so good!The service is so quick I waited, probably less than a minute before I was helped by one of the employees. I've been to the Santee location at 2 AM and they're always still so nice and welcoming despite the odd hours.Makes me happy to support them throughout all these years and see them expand and grow! “OMG these are the best donuts we've had in a long time, maybe even ever. Soft, not overly sweet, not a single dry bite (even after 9am) perfect amount of toppings. We got a half dozen, a bottle drink, and a medium coffee. Our total was just over $8. That is the cash price, however. They do charge more for using card FYI.My daughter and I tried the Bavarian Cream (my favorite), chocolate Old Fashioned, Glazed with Cinnamon, White with Sprinkles, and Chocolate with Sprinkles. She had a bottle of Strawberry milk and I had a medium coffee. The Bavarian Creams were the best I've ever had. There was actually cream in the entire donut, and it was soooo soft and fluffy! Even the Old Fashioned was soft, with a perfect crispy crust. The chocolate actually tastes like chocolate, better than any other donut shop I've tried. My daughter scarfed down her sprinkle donuts with a smile the whole time. He even included 2 donut holes as a surprise! She devoured those before I could stir my coffee and try a bite hahaThe only sorta downsides I have; the coffee tasted odd... even for what you would imagine "cheap generic coffee" to be. As a bonus the very sweet counter lady gave me 5 glazed donut holes for my order. I sampled a donut hole which was light and airy and perfectly sweet. A super clean bite of no greasy taste or heaviness. DELICIOUS. Since this is a review I will continue on with sampling. Next was the plain buttermilk bar. A lovely light crunch on the outside and a silky light inside with a wonderful taste of buttermilk...again DELICIOUS!!! I am aware at this point I am stuffing my face but for the sake of this review I will force myself to continue on. I'm happy I found this Hidden Gem! Yo Almost don't notice it because of the car washing going on around it but right above were all the people are waiting for there cars you see in big letters DONUT TOUCH! (Bravo on the word play) When I walked it it was very clean ambiance and right in front sat a full selection of donuts they even had what looked like red velvet cakes. I order my usual a Buttermilk Glaze and a dozen Donut holes to eat on the road! When I grabbed the first hole and ate it first thing I noticed was the heavy Glaze oh man those girls when crazy with the glaze machine! Second thing was I get like when I ate the donut holes my moth was much fuller than normal, so a grabbed one out the bag and actually looked at it , and BAM it was huge! I thought I was trippin so I held it up to my shift gear, then went to put it in my mouth(pause) and realized I'm literally opening my most all the way just to eat a donut hole! Haha very impressive.
