“My partner brought us here.Positives:- smooth homemade Blue jam- Jazz music- Rustic place with 2 types outdoor seating: shaded terrace and outdoor closed up space with wooden table-benches- unique species in international themed dishes (like tarragon in Fresh dish )- huge versatile breakfast menu- sweetheart Jeff (manager) who took off the bill the vegan soup after we found pieces of egg white and gave us a few littlef packages.- fresh orange juice came fast to the tableWhat could be worked on (why my partner, who works in the industry was annoyed):- girl on the picture stood on her phone and multiple waiters had a chat for longer period of time. He spotted then 2 people on the phones.- the scan code system - we had to do all the ‘work’ while others had a chat / busy on their phone and we had to pay…- Russel potatoes ? skin taste is not my favorite- loud kitchen noises at indoor seatingSo if you wanna enjoy the place: be outside and say Hi to Jeff - tall friendly guy!“

Manzke Modern European •
9575 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles - 7.16 miles

“It's a tragedy that Manzke is closing at the end of February. A restaurant this good shouldn't have to close. Everything is fantastic. The food is rich in flavor with a cocktail and wine list as close to perfection as possible. I'd encourage anyone who loves fine dining to enjoy Manzke while you can. Oh, and the butter is heavenly...“

“I think this is about the best French restaurant in California or perhaps the US. This was not the intended destination, but my friend and I were extremely glad that we went, since we're Francophiles!! They feature classically French dishes, but also Italian, making it a bit of fusion cuisine. Okay, a mojito is not French, but it was one of the best I have had in a very long time! I stuck to French cuisine. Started with soup a l'onion. Delicious! A lot of gruyere and the right amount of onions, bread and soup. Next were the escargots in olive oil with a lot of garlic! Yum! Main course was the mussels! Those had to be the largest, most succulent mussels I have ever had! They came with fries, but you really didn't need them. I brought them home. Last was the Napoleon or mille feuille. Creamy! There were three layers: one with just the cream, second with strawberries, and the last with nuts. Wow! Never had one like that! The proprietor was very kind. He brought us our drinks and was very kind when we spoke to him in French. Wait staff was very courteous and we felt no pressure to eat and leave. To show how good this place was, we ended up sitting next to a well known French actor. My friend recognized him first. They say that if people of the same nationality as the restaurant dine there, it's usually a compliment to the restaurant and a testament of the food. Well, that may be so, but we Francophiles will definitely be dining again at this restaurant! Merci beaucoup!“

“We booked Olivetta for an early Valentine’s Day dinner, based on its popularity and reputation. I would not classify it as fine dining, more so a really good Italian restaurant that specializes in drinks, and a more upscale and lively vibe versus a traditional fine dining restaurant like Madeo up on W Sunset. I would say it’s a great place to bring a date or dinner with friends or family, and not so much a work dinner location. The inside is beautifully done and has some great colors. There are tapestries all along the walls with lots of plants dividing the dining areas and a very muted red color that really adds to the ambience. They don’t have a dedicated parking lot, it will be valet or metered street parking. You have to check in with security street side first and then they let you walk up the ramp where you will next check in with the hostess. They have a large bar area as well as a lot of different seating options. Our table was extremely small, however, and the tables were very close together so this is not the sort of place that you’ll be able to have a private or sensitive conversation. Our server was very polite, although took quite some time to take our order initially but overall, I think he did a great job. The music is quite loud here so if someone has hearing issues they will really struggle to hear others at their table. They have a fairly large menu with a lot of great options on it. We started off with a Squash Blossoms, which were absolutely fantastic. I have ordered these all over town and this is definitely one of the better versions. I was a bit disappointed that it only comes with three which is a hard number to share so I wish the portion size would’ve been a bit larger for this. Next we followed with the Caesar Salad and it was great. Again, not a very large sized portion, but still tasty flavorwise. For my entrée, I chose the Creste Di Gallo because having the bone marrow scooped in right before you eat is an unbeatable addition to me. It was a true treat. I love bone marrow anything so this was great pasta. The bone marrow itself added a great flavor and a crunch to the meal, which I truly loved. We also ordered the special for the day, which was the Dungeness Crab Tagliatelle. It was absolutely fantastic and had a ton of crab on it. The sauce was truly what made the dish and the pasta was cooked perfectly. For dessert we topped off the meal with the Brown Sugar Budino and I definitely would recommend it. It was sweet and salty and actually a great sized portion. it was a great end of the meal.Overall, I would say Olivetta is a great date spot. It’s very lively and very noisy but in a fun way. They play the music quite loud so it has a very Friday night kind of feel to it. I would recommend and will try it again sometime in the near future.Parking: valet or metered street parking“

I did not find the lava cake dessert anything too special but the rolls were so delicious! I had the lamb and my husband had the stew and the presentation for the food was beautiful, it was almost too pretty to eat. It is worth trying out for a very romantic date - don’t waste it on someone casual.“

“Such a pleasant surprise “finding” Massilia hiding in plain sight in Santa Monica. A wonderful blend of European flavors in a setting with a chic vibe. Very reasonable happy hour prices for delicious cocktails and bites. On the dinner menu, pasta entrees (tagliatelle and rigatoni) were both lovely but the true star was the 8-hour lamb shank over pureed potatoes with a Cabernet sauce. It was fall off the bone tender and so flavorful. Our excellent and enthusiastic server, Jonathan, recommended the chocolate mousse for dessert. Heaven in a bowl!!We will be repeat customers, for sure!“

“If I told you this is the best Russian food I’ve ever had, it would insult all of my aunts and grandmothers; but if they could cook like Traktir cooks, I wouldn’t have to offend them. At the risk of hurting all of their feelings, let me tell you. This is the best Russian food I have ever had in my life. The service is amazing. The atmosphere is cozy and fun. We tasted like 14 different offerings. The challenge is to not eat a lot. Hahaha! The sides are all insanely good. Whoever took that time to ensure everything served tastes like how it tastes, takes food seriously. They should be really proud. Thank you for one of, if not the best, nights of my life feasting like a tsar. Even the cakes and espresso are the highest quality. Inspiringly delicious food. Nosdorovia, Traktir!“

But really went for the ambiance (Thanks, Marta) but it was bit of disappointing maybe, the time and the wind/draft as their side awnings or broken. We were a bit also disappointed by lack of food options compared to the online menu. Will try again when it's warmer and less windier.“

Tapas

“This place is a hoot! It is a jampacked night filled with tons of entertainment, and so much food! I was a guest at a birthday dinner party couple weeks ago on a Saturday night and I must say I have never heard of this place before. It is tucked away in a small plaza in Studio City and parking is free for the most part unless you choose to valet. Inside you'll find a banquet hall type of settings where each table is reserved for special parties. As far as the food goes, you name it and they have it. They served as different types of fish, lobster salad, shrimp, cocktail, chicken, duck, kebabs, steak, etc., the courses were never ending and there was unlimited amounts of wine and some kind of hard liquor. As far as entertainment goes, there were belly dancers, there was Marilyn Monroe impressionist, there was a DJ for dancing, and multiple live singers as well. Almost everything is in Russian though and since I don't understand Russian, I wasn't sure what was going on most of the time, but some songs were in English and the belly dancing was toArabic music and I think they played a couple of Armenian songs as well. It is definitely a place to go if you want to experience a Russian style banquet party and as far as pricing goes, I'm not too sure how much it cost but I'm pretty sure it is quite expensive!!“
