Probably the worst food in Temecula, not to mention some of the priciest. We ordered an ahi poke stack and it was 99% undercooked potatoes? Also ordered a burger cooked medium and it was raw and cold in the middle. The pictures speak for themselves...

We had visitors from out of town and they were impressed by this winery and restaurant. The Crispy Pork Belly and Wagyu Steak paired with the Callaway Zinfandel deserve special mention. It was overall an incredible dining experience. Great place to bring friends and family!

Terrible food. Hugely over priced. There was not a single item, desserts included, that did not taste like it was a TV Dinner item from Ralph's. Cannot warn you enough to stay away.

We were actually the winery but stopped in to get a cheese board. The price was a bit higher but WOW the selection was amazing. The chef came by to explain the board and I am glad he did because after eating it was nice to know what we just had. I was pleasantly surprised as last year we came by it was very plain. I highly suggest it.

It's been years since I ate at Callaway's Meritage restaurant. Gorgeous views, beautiful property overall. The restaurant is covered patio seating with large windows that give a great vineyard view facing west. We were there on a Tuesday, which was a low crowd day and perfect weather! Service was excellent! Margarita pizza was yummy! We used our SIP Temecula passes to grab a glass of wine from the tasting room before heading over to the restaurant, finished that glass and ordered another glass at the restaurant! I chose a white wine, so I can't offer any comment on whether their reds have improved from when we last tasted here years ago. White was good (probably a viognier, I can't remember). They don't have air conditioning, so be aware if planning to dine on one of Temecula's blistering hot summer days. They do have heaters, though I could not tell you how well they work to keep you warm on our sometimes cool winter weather. We chose the perfect day to have lunch here and it was very nice!

Best service ever!!! We brought our dog to the Meritage restaurant and he was super spoiled by our waitress called Jamie. She is so loving and we are definitely coming back for another experience here. It was a Sunday and even with the restaurant busy, we had the standard service! Food was awesome, it came very fast!5 starts for everything.

They have a fantastic view, and the food is very good. We make it a stop driving from Palm Springs to San Diego and it's nice to break up the trip.

Fiancé and I came to try out the food in advance of selecting for our Wedding Rehearsal lunch. Will say the food was spectacular when paired with the recommended wine. We ordered the Cheese Raclette and Fig salad to start and my god the raclette was BOMB!! The melted cheese topped with roasted black garlic, iberico ham, and potatoes on a toasted baguette slice was amazing. But do eat it while it's hot before the cheese hardens. The fig salad wasn't my favorite but that's because I'm not a fan of goat cheese, but my fiancé loved it. For entrees we landed on the Pork Chops and the scallops. OMG the pork chop while a little slimmer than I envisioned was super juicy, moist, and well seasoned. Some may say it's a bit salty by itself but when paired with the blanched Brussels sprout leaves and wine it was just right. The only two critiques was the parsnip purée still had a little chunks of parsnip which I would've expected to be fully blended to a smooth purée; and the amount of thick cut bacon bits was just a tad too much for my taste. My fiancé got the scallops and said they were cooked well, just a hint over done but had that slight bounce on the scallop without being rubbery. One critique here would be to add a little slice of lemon for that splash of citrus on seafood. Over all, the food was great, view was beautiful and the service was friendly.

I really really wanted to love Meritage. I love that most of their produce comes from their own greenhouses or is sourced locally. The ambiance: It was actually very nice inside and I liked that it was so open. However we were seated at a table next to the window and there was a fan that kept blowing on us as it rotated side to side. I had to put my hair up to prevent it from blowing all over the place. Ceviche: Good! Not the best ceviche I've ever had but it was not bad. The seafood tasted fresh which is one of the more important things for me. The wontons were alright, very very messy as flames ended up everywhere. The wontons were also a little oily and left that oil taste in your mouth if you ate it alone. Also there was a small piece of blue plastic lodged in one of the clams :( We let our server know and he offered to have them remake it, but we figured it was alright (crazy take i know). Ratatouille: Was decent, squash was cooked well and couscous went nicely. I personally felt that it could use a little more salt to enhance the tomato flavor, but to each their own. Short Rib: The short rib was very soft. However it was a little dry and the dish itself was a little underwhelming for me. I think I needed something in the dish to add some brightness as everything seemed to weigh the dish down. But again, personal preference because my boyfriend had no problems with it. In conclusion I can't see us coming back anytime soon, but I'm glad we tried it out.

We recently visited Meritage at Callaway for a Sunday lunch. The scenery is beautiful. I was very surprised unlike other wineries it was not packed with people on a Sunday early afternoon. The restaurant was nice beautiful breeze on a hot day. We ordered the Cabernet Savignon from the reserve list. It was very good. The service was great George was our server. I did notice families were seated in a different area which i like. After all it is a winery and if you are on a date, It's nice not to have kids playing next to you. Same if you go with your child nice not to be seated with adults drinking vino. The food was average. I wouldn't call it "fine dining" but it was good. I would go again!

Food is amazing. The scallops were so tender and flavorful. Monica, our server was great. She made sure we were taken care of. Having lunch with amazing views of the vineyards was relaxing. If you're in Temecula, you must stop by for a bite.

This restaurant used to be decent a few years ago. However the last few times I've been here, the food has not been good, service slow, menu uninspired/limited, and prices high for the lack of quality. They will rarely seat you without a reservation, even if they are not busy. I recommend eating in Old Town Temecula and skipping the winery restaurants altogether, as I feel most of them are overpriced and underwhelming.
