I just saw an Instagram Reel about someone making some bánh chưng and using a waffle iron to make it crispy. I was intrigued. I've never heard of bánh chưng nor had it before. But, it seems similar to a Chinese tamale (zongzi or doong). I Yelped and found Minh Phung as a place that sells bánh chưng. It's in an industrial strip mall tucked away in a residential area. The steamed rice cake is only available on weekends. It has a hint of coconut cream and the toppings on it are heavenly. They have a small parking lot in front and there are always people coming and going in the shop.

So good. Just order ahead of time especially for Tết- I came two days before this year and they were sold out of vegetarian options for bánh tét and bánh chưng. Their bánh tét ba màu is so yummy. They told me people will order up to two months ahead before new years.
