“The door we entered was at the bar area that’s separated from the dining room. Didn’t really mean to, but glad we did. It was a homey feel. Cool little Knick knacks from ages ago displayed up on a shelf. The Bloody Mary was better than the one I had the night before at Wines of Colorado, much better. Thanks. We’ll be back ?“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at El Taco Loco, a charming Mexican restaurant with a lively atmosphere and delicious food. The service was top-notch, with friendly staff guiding me through the menu and providing thoughtful recommendations. I opted for the carne asada tacos, which were simply mouth-watering – perfectly seasoned, juicy, and served in warm corn tortillas. The portions were generous, and I left feeling satisfied but not overly full. Additionally, the margaritas were refreshing and expertly crafted, adding to the overall enjoyable dining experience. The cozy decor and upbeat music further enhanced the casual yet vibrant vibe of this hidden gem. Overall, El Taco Loco exceeded my expectations in terms of both flavor and ambiance – I can't wait to return for another flavorful meal!“

Pikes peak road rest stop Cafe •
Cascade - 1.08 miles

“Iconic. Amazing. Beautiful. These are from the reviews of others, and I'd echo these terms and many more, with regard to this incredible wonder. I've long wanted to drive to the top and we did so on a recent visit. It was early November on an uncharacteristically warm day with beautiful clear skies as we began our ascent, and the weather stayed perfect the whole time, getting colder as we ascended of course. The drive itself starts out very mildly in terms of grade, and frankly, excitement, but it definitely saves the best stuff for later. Once you get into the seriously twisty and steep bits, the trees start to part and reveal the spectacular views as you get higher and higher. Our rented Toyota 4 Runner was more than capable, and got us up and down with aplomb. We were initially excited as we reached the summit, until we got out of the car and headed to the visitor center. It was at that point that my wife and I both realized we had a bit of altitude sickness, in the form of dizziness, light headedness and she even had a smidge of nausea. We were surprised and how, well, almost terrible we felt. We grabbed a couple of quick pics and began our descent, and we began to feel better soon thereafter. So, be prepared for the possibility. As we came back down, we stayed in first gear on the 4 Runner much of the way, and at the mandatory brake check, the checker commented that our brakes were under 100 degrees and that we were doing a great job. The view was even better on the way down. If you're ever in this area, this is a must-do and must-see. It is everything that everyone says, totally awesome.“

“Food was fantastic. We hiked the incline and wanted some coffee and good breakfast sandwich. We got both. The staff was fantastic! They are super friendly and on top of things. We stepped away for 5min from our table to get a pastry after our sandwich and came back to our table being cleaned off lol. They do free refills so it was all good. But I appreciated that they were cleaning up behind patrons. There is so much to look at here! Lots of plants make the place feel calming.“

“The drinks are good, the staff is nice and courteous. But let's be real, the prices are high because it's the only coffee shop that the tourists can easily see. The local "high society" customers roll through with their pinkies in the air too.I much rather spend the extra money than patronize a business that hates the military and made us pay for water during 9-11, I was there! So support your local private owned.Vegetarian options: There's no meat grazers, its a coffee shop.Dietary restrictions: Cheat day approved.Parking: Its a drive through, not a hang out spot.Kid-friendliness: Kids eat muffins and like to drink.Wheelchair accessibility: Just stay in your vehicle and you can still roll up.“

“So glad my boyfriend knew about this place. I became disenchanted with craft beer a long time ago cause its always the same unimpressive bitter options at like every brewery. Not here! I got a flight and loved all 4 of them.Food was fantastic. It's been forever since I've been to a restaurant that had an actual homemade veggie burger patty and not that Impossible burger garbage that has plagued the entire industry. But what always makes me happy is good service. The staff here was GREAT! Fast, attentive, friendly. So hard to come by usually. The service was well above my usual experience anywhere I go.Whenever I'm back in Manitou I'll be here.Vegetarian options: The quinoa burger was great, they have an option for tacosDietary restrictions: Vegan options with modification. “Nice spot in Woodland Park! They have good coffee and spend a little extra to not use the run of the mill beans on both the espresso and the drip. They use an air pot for the drip that you can get your own refills. Staff is friendly and plenty of parking. They have house made desserts. The sandwiches are around $15 but they are a good value. They have plenty of meat, condiments and seasonings. The spicy italian is delicious.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free optionsParking: Plenty of parking“

Fresh Frozen Custard

“Update: After hearing back from the owners, I realize that they are new to the business (less than 1 month) and are still learning the ropes, so to speak. I do believe in extending grace in situations like this, so I bumped the original score to 4 stars instead of 3 with the belief that the speed of service will improve over time.Original post: After reading several reviews, we decided to try this custard place.I parked near the park, so we had a 5 minute walk there. Since it is paid parking, I went to the one of the parking machines and saw you can get 30 minutes of free parking, which I selected, figuring we’d have plenty of time. When we arrived, the line was long, maybe 10-12 people. I soon realized that this line wasn’t really moving. After standing there for 20 minutes, I left my family in line, walked back to the car, drove around looking for a closer spot and got back to my family. There were still people in front of them. When we got to the window, I realized why. There was one person both taking the orders and making each item. Another person was cleaning and doing other things around the kitchen area. That person did help a little bit with our order. So how was the custard? It was good, but it didn’t stand out to me as anything special. We ordered two Turtle Splits and one custom Avalanche with cookie dough. As I said, everything was good. I’ll also add that it was a very fair price. (Note: The menu prices are cash prices; there is a small fee to use credit card.)Seating options were limited around the side of the building. When we were ready to leave, we tried to find a trash can. They didn’t have one that we could find, so we put everything in one of the public trash cans nearby. So would I recommend this place? If you like custard and don’t mind a long wait, absolutely. If there’s no wait, then definitely give it a try!“

My family is from New Orleans and have had beignets from there more times than I count so I was hesitant to try these. I shouldn’t have been! These are the best I’ve had outside of New Orleans. Made me want to take a trip back there since it’s been a couple years. Would gladly bring family here. Tried the chocolate dipping sauce to change it up a bit and not sure I’d get again but it was good!“

Miramont Castle Museum and The Queen's Parlour Tea Room Pet Friendly • $$$
9 Capitol Hill Ave, Manitou Springs - 7.3 miles

“We enjoyed our self-guided tour of the home. The woman at the front desk greeted us and gave us a little information along with a map that contained information on each room in the castle. This home of a former priest was built for himself and his mother, and later used by nuns. The caretakers of this castle have done an amazing job with restorations and placing information throughout the home to learn about the style of the room, its use, and the people who lived there. It was all very fascinating. It took us about two hours but we would have stayed longer if we didn't have to catch a flight. We didn't stay for tea, but it looks like that would have been a fun experience as well. I recommend this stop if you have any interest in history at all and you're looking for something to do for a few hours!“
