Mexican Restaurants near New Canaan

“I had lunch with a couple of friends here and we decided to share everything so I got to sample a lot of the menu. The food was overall very good. It's not exactly as "Mexican" as it is billed to be, but lots of good tacos and some inventive things like a shrimp Quesadilla that looked like sushi but tasted good whatever it was! The guacamole is outstanding. The only food item that fell short was the short rib taco. The meat was great, but under-seasoned, even with the spicy au jus that accompanied it. So kinda bland. We did not sample any of the cocktails given that it was lunch, but the cocktail menu looked interesting. However, one of my friends has been there for cocktails and said the margaritas are not very potent. The service was prompt and sweet. The downside of the restaurant is its size. The interior seating is pretty cramped and the chairs and benches are uncomfortable. Go on a nice day and sit outside, it will be much better (but I'm not sure what they do in the winter?). Anyway, we enjoyed it and will go back.“

“This restaurant is one of my happy places. Not good for takeout, but great for dine-in. The drinks are tasty, but be careful as they are strong. Definitely not skimping on the alcohol/tequila in their pours. I usually go with the taco platter, which comes with four different tacos, of which the pork is the best (pork has an impressive smokey flavor). Would call this casual, but it's New Canaan so it's still a bit upscale feeling, but overall a pretty straightforward, no frills, tasty Mexican restaurant.“

“My school bus used to drop me off across the street and i'd save my lunch money just to get a few tacos and a drink. The tortas are to die for, super flavorful. They were always super efficient and kind and they kept it consistent, wish I was as close as I used to be!“

“Oh my goodness...we cannot WAIT to go back! First off, the service is fantastic from the hostess to our server to our clearer so friendly, always smiling and made our meal even better. We opted out of an appitizer to save room for dessert (so glad we did). We had a combo plate with a crunchy taco and cheese enchilada...both great and a beef burrito! HUGE and flavorful! We ended the meal with churros and they were worth every calorie! Served hot and with three dipping sauces.We can't wait to go back and try some different dishes. So glad we tried this place over the weekend! Go, go, GO!“

“Absolutely love Taco Guy!Between the impeccable service and authentic food - Taco Guy is by far one of the best restaurants in Downtown Norwalk. The staff are lovely and can answer any questions you have about the menu and the bartenders are fantastic mixologists. I have a friend with a severe dairy allergy and when we go to restaurants they often mess up their order. Taco Guy was so accommodating, careful and understanding of how severe a mix up could be.Would 100% recommend Taco Guy if you are in the Fairfield County Area!“

“This was the best service we have received at a restaurant! Ten of my friends and I dropped in before a wedding reception and they really rolled out the red carpet for us. “I think I absolutely loved celebrating my sisters birthday here. We had a kid and definitely made some mess but they were very patient in everything from assigning us tables, to taking orders and with overall service. The food was good and thankfully not over fried or oily or anything. Their service regarding the birthday and getting cake out with lovely music and cake - was great. You must try their coconut flan and chicken quesadillas.“

“Been coming to this place for 20 years idc what anyone says.. the shredded beef taco and chicken tacos with the salsa verde are good as hell. This isnt sloppy soggy heavy mexican food. Fresh flavors and textures working together. Crispy taco with marinated shredded beef topped with cool lettuce and tomato also crumbled queso fresca with the chiltomate sauce It’s absolute perfection! Rice and beans hit too not overly salted and perfectly cooked. They give you generous portions and chips and salsa with your order. The inside is very cute for dining… they have updated it since- used to be mostly takeout and like 2 tables inside. its very clean has a good vibe. good for anyone wanting grab a bite to eat alone and not feel weird lol. and in the nice weather they a few small tables outside!“

What an amazing surprise.On our way home to Maine after a cancelled flight from Philly, we pulled off the highway and tripped over this place.Authentic, delicious, wonderful service, clearly a family place.People were there visiting when we walked in thinking we'd get takeout.Instead we sat down and enjoyed a delicious, home cooked meal. The enchiladas were fantastic! Went perfectly with the iced cold Negra Modelo.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free?
