“A & B Lobster House 700 Front St., Key West, FL 33040 4 Stars Ah, the Conch Republic. How can you not love the Key West even if it is a tourist trap. It is our tourist trap. Any place Papa Hemingway lived has to be cool. Opened 70 years ago by good friends Alonzo Cothron & Berlin Fleton, A & B Lobster House has become a Key West Waterfront icon in what is now A & B Marina. They have expanded over the decades to include a slew of eateries. Upon entering the abode, I almost thought I had stepped into an atelier; the place was so pristine and classic-looking. Michelle was the server today, and she was more or less what one expects from a place that bills itself as "fine dining." She was knowledgeable, polite, and professional. I asked for one Old Fashioned from Berlin's Bar, some Beef Carpaccio, and a New York Strip (Blackened and medium-rare) with a Caribbean Lobster Tail. Relaxing in the atmosphere of Key West, I was almost lost in the comforting arms of Hypnos when Michelle brought forth our fare. First, the Old Fashioned was made by someone who obviously knew what they were doing as it was delicious. I then turned my attention to the order of Beef Carpaccio. I learned from Michelle that the "fresh baked" part of this was neither fresh nor baked on-site. As I've stated a million times, if a dish involves any bread or pastry product, it has to start with the bread or pastry. If that is off, it throws the whole dish off, which was the case here. A for effort - D for quality. Moving on to the Blackened New York Strip and Caribbean Lobster Tail. Looking at the pictures, you can clearly see that beautiful, blackened crust on the charred bovine. It was cooked to a succulent medium-rare and was extremely tasty on the palate. The accompanying Lobster Tail was delightfully seasoned, grilled to perfection and caused my taste buds to break into a Bruckins as they were freed of crappy food for the nonce. The Carpaccio and bread are a 1, while I found the NY Strip and Lobster Tail to be a 4.5. Hence, the overall rating of a 4 -- giving greater weight to the entree. The Big Boy says, "I'm not sure if there is better dining in tourist trap haven, but it's miles above anything up in Cocoa Beach serving the same feed."“

“Amazing fine dining off the tourist strip, hidden away next to a retail seafood shop and right on the docks. We had dinner outside near sunset, enjoyed great food and drinks while the sun went down. Our party of two had two entrees, an artichoke salad, two beers and a split of Prosecco. Very nice, great service. $115 before a tip.“

“I was excited to try the food here after reading all the reviews. The service is great with very friendly staff. The food, however not bad, lacked flavor. I wasn't expecting this from a Caribbean food truck and felt disappointed. The price was also higher than what is shown in the pictures here.

“Just got back from Key West and have to say that we absolutely loved the Celtic Conch. We went back 3 times during our stay and jt immediately felt like our local pub. Stephanie the bartender was so fun & friendly and was a huge reason we kept going back. She gave us recommendations on things to do on our stay and greeted us like we were old friends. The owner was there and very friendly and the music was great. We loved Milo who played there one of the nights. Overall I highly recommend and hope to get back there again sometime.“

“I saw Fritas in a YouTube video, we got done with our vacation activities late so we ordered on doordash. I was nervous it wasn't going to be as good, but it was amazing! I wanted to get a Cubano on this trip and I was not disappointed, the classic cubano was so flavorful and delicious. It was better than I could have asked for. The fries were also really good, my wife said they were now her favorite fries, sad that we don't have this food back home!! I don't have a picture, I ate the food way too fast. Thank you Fritas!“

“We stayed at the DoubleTree the night before our flight out of Key West. We all decided to just eat here at the hotel restaurant, and so glad we did! We opted to eat outside and enjoy our last bit of nice weather before heading home. We ordered a couple of appetizers (quesadilla & nachos) which was plenty for the five of us in our party. For our entrees, everyone ordered something different but we were all pleasantly surprised with just how good our food was. “This is hands down our favorite restaurant whenever we’re in the Florida Keys — and for good reason. We’ve never had a bad meal or poor service here. This visit was no exception and might’ve been our best yet. I had the crabcakes, which were perfectly crisped on the outside and packed with flavor. My daughter ordered the lobster ravioli and declared it one of the best meals she’s ever had. My husband went with the Caribbean pork chops — moist, tender, and full of island flavor. Even the kids meal impressed us: our grandson’s fish fingers came out looking like a full adult entrée, complete with freshly cut fruit. And yes, everyone wanted a bite of those fish fingers. As for the drinks: the Caribbean Mojito made with Bombarda Culverin Caribbean Rum was refreshing and just strong enough to remind you you’re on vacation. I ordered the filet mignon on both visits, and it was cooked exactly the way I like it — absolutely delicious! My husband enjoyed the prime rib on our first visit. Unfortunately, it wasn't available the second time, so he went with the New York strip steak, which was good as well. But what really made our second visit special was our waiter, Aileem from Jamaica! He was incredibly friendly, helpful, attentive, and so much fun! His wonderful personality and positive energy made our evening even more enjoyable. Great service can truly make a difference, and Aileem definitely deserves recognition. “The Bartender’s and Staff are amazing! Food is consistently good, drinks as well as food is probably the most reasonably priced on the Island! Also, Sun Loungers are only $15 bucks for the entire day. The Beach is small but it’s always clean and a good vibe. Great mix of Locals and Tourists! Highly recommend for a relaxing day out 🙌“

“This place is a small, hole in the wall spot near the Kino sandal store. My husband and I like to find quiet, little spots that boast good eats and this was one of them! I had the crab cake sandwich and he had the yellowtail fish sandwich (several fish options available) and as you can see in the photos the crab cake sandwich came on a croissant and the fish sandwich came as a wrap. Both came with a side of coleslaw and plantain chips. We also ordered fries which were crispy and their iced tea which came with lemon and basil. Everything waa made to order and fresh. We both thought everything was delicious! Not much seating there but can take food to go and sit in the courtyard of the Kino plaza. If your looking for a unique spot with seafood this is it!

“So 32 years ago today, my girlfriend and I met friends in Key West, Florida. My friend had signed me up for a Jalapeno eating contest for that night. It was Cinco de Mayo. We walked in and it was packed. There were cockroach races and the long ice statue used for sliding shots down.
We ordered thermo nuclear wings and rounds of beer to get ready. They're were 6 contestants including these two tall blonde guys from California and their gfs on each arm. Then the young guy that works at the bar too. The prize was $25 and a case of beer. We were told they were while pickled Jalapenos. First we could use a beer to down them. Nope.

I met a couple from Boston who were rooting us on... I was first and after a shot of Tobassco, I ate 13 whole Jalapenos. After I was done, I looked around and the two tall guys were gone. It was down to 4 people. The guy at the bar went and supposedly ate 13 1/2 Jalapenos! I lost. My friend was irate and to calm the crowd, we got free rounds of drinks and Merch.

I then went outside and after the woman moved off the dock area, I got on one knee and proposed. She said Yes. We walked back inside, the band stopped playing and announced we were engaged. More drinks and it was 9:30 pm. We then went to Duvall Street all night and ended up in the Hogs Breathe Saloon at 2 am. We drove to Sarasota the next day and my stomach was fine. We took an airboat in the Everglades on the way. Memorable to say the least“
