“Bacco Wine Cafe- Melbourne- 5 Stars When a restaurant has been in business for 18 years, I know one of two things. It's either the only restaurant in town, or it's the best. I am here to say that Bacco Wine Cafe in Melbourne is the latter of the two. The place is run by a husband and wife team, the husband, Loris, takes care of the front while his wife, Rafaella, runs the kitchen. As the place is reservation only, we were very fortunate and grateful that Loris gave us a table. He said we arrived early enough so it wouldn't be a problem. As my eyes began to devour the choices on the menu handed to us by Loris, I thought this was sure to be an amazing meal. However, our server, Jennifer had me briefly second guessing that assumption as she came across as a zombie. Or your typical 25-year-old. She was adequate enough as she got our order right but, really seemed to just go through the motions. I ordered a three-course meal consisting of Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese, the Veal Chop Alla Marsala and for dessert, I went with the Pere Cotte Al Vino Rosso. Jennifer was soon doing the zombie shuffle towards our table with a tray of culinary science concocted in the laboratory of Chef Rafaella, Ph.D. in foodology. As our gastronomical treasure was set before us, my sense of smell became overwhelmed with scrumptiousness. The odors spirling up from the plated art in wisps of steam would make a dead man salivate (which I found exceedingly ironic given the mortal condition of our server). My comestible journey began with the order of Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese. Sadly, this recipe has been hacked the world over. It has been reduced to "common" food status when in reality it was the dish of nobility as traditionally it consisted of beef and fresh cream, items not easily obtainable by the commoners. Chef Rafaella reminds everybody of the true origins of this dish by elevating it once again to noble standards. She starts by making her own pasta and finishes with the freshest cuts of prime meat around and tops it all off with a homemade Bolognese sauce that recalled to mind one of the nicknames of the city it hails from, "la grassa" or "the fat" in reference to the city's culinary mastery. After literally licking the plate clean (thatsa some sauce!), I directed my appetite towards the Veal Chop Alla Marsala. As my loyal followers know, this is my "barometer" for measuring a good Italian eatery. The Veal was obviously USDA Prime as it was so tender it practically melted on the palate. The mushrooms were fresh cut (YAY!) and Chef Rafaella really took it to the next level by using shaved garlic in her sauce. Served with riced garlic mashed potatoes and bedded atop a bevy of market fresh veggies this was truly a dish from a chef at the top of her game. However, Rafaella's chef-d'oeuvre this evening was her take on the classic Pere Cotte Al Vino Russo. What can I say about this delicious masterpiece of dessert? Was it perfect? Was it divine? Everything falls short. The pear was cooked unerringly to perfection and the red wine reduction sauce was out of this world. A dollop of fresh cream was the exclamation point to a fabulous meal. The Big Boy says, "What are you doing still reading this? Call Bacco and make a reservation. Now. Boun Appetito!!" #bigboydiningout #iamthebigboy“

“Botta Neapolitan 7500 Lake Andrew Dr. Viera, FL 32940 New Number 1 Pizza in Brevard. 5 Stars I don't know about you, but when I hear the word "Neapolitan," I think of two things: the first being ice cream, the second being Napoleon. The ice cream is legit, as the word stems from Naples, Italy. It means, in this case, ice cream from the city of Naples. Neapolitan, in general, refers to food and/or culture influenced by a city (founded by Greeks in the Neolithic period) that is one of the oldest continuously inhabited urban areas on the planet. Talk about history! Why does Napoleon come to mind as well? Other than similar phonemes, I don't have a clue. Upon research, and by that I mean Google Translate, Botta means blow as in to strike. In other words, this place serves up dishes that will knock the Naples into ya! Oof-da! Anna was my service pro for this meal and after dealing with Shemene the Mean, she was a breath of fresh air. She was so kind and helpful. I asked Anna for a Caprese salad (against my EIC's recommendation, as he says you should never order this in a restaurant), some meatballs, sauce, and bread, along with a Four Cheese Pie, and some iced tea with which to wash it all down. The back was hoppin' as much as Anna was, as my food was out in no time. I now refer you to the food pics. Starting with the starter, I dug into the Caprese salad. The Basil was fresh and delicious, the cheese was good; however, the tomatoes were a few days shy of being fully ripe. This was the only weakness found on the table, but I get ahead of myself. Moving on to the homemade meatballs, sauce and bread. This was outstanding. Everything was made in the back. The flavor of the meatballs hit my palate like Sonny beatin' Connie's husband on the stoop. Hard, fast and powerful. The sauce was complex, not too sweet, and bursting with the essence of the City of the Sun, that is, Naples, Italy. Not only is Naples known as the City of the Sun, but it is also known as the City of Pizza. This brings me to the final item on my taste buds, the Four Cheese Pizza. Naples is known for their thin-crust pizzas and fresh ingredients. Botta Neapolitan must have theirs shipped via the SR-71 Blackbird because this pizza was amazing! I have such a strong dislike for the bread and ketchup "New York" pizza that is so prevalent in Brevard. I also don't like the fried unleavened bread of Mister 01. This, however, was straight from the Pizza Godz. The crust was thin and flaky on the inside, and it was delicious. The sauce was complex, not too sweet, and... wait, I've covered the sauce. The cheese was freshly grated and piled high. If they aren't making their cheese in the back, it's the only thing missing. Because, wow. This might be the best Pizza I've ever had. That's saying a lot. I've had tons of pizza! I love pizza! Who doesn't? The Big Boy says, "I'm gonna go 5 Star regardless of the woefully under-ripe tomatoes. THIS IS OUTSTANDING FOOD and the new Numero Uno Big Boy Pizza Joint. Go. Go now."“

“Since Piesanos opened I have loved occasionally ordering pizza from there. It tastes great and my family loves it. On October 25. We ordered a pizza from there and they accidentally made the initial pizza incorrectly. They proceeded to make another one and allowed me to take both pizzas home. When the new correct pizza was completed as I was leaving the restaurant I dropped the new pizza. I was mortified and felt terrible because they just made the new pizza for us and I totally messed it up. They graciously began to prepare another new pizza. I didn’t come prepared to pay for the pizza since it was ordered online and they were not expecting any payment. I did have a some cash and offered it as a tip. To my surprise the lady at the counter wouldn’t take it no matter how much I insisted. This experience was a true testament to the spectacular customer service you will get at Piesanos. I don’t leave reviews very often, but I believe they deserve praise how on awesome they are. The food is always wonderful, but it makes the experience so much better when the people are wonderful too! Ever looking for a place to order pizza I will always recommend Piesanos.“

“Napoli Pizza N Pasta- Beachside Melbourne- 4- stars. "The thing that keeps a business ahead of the competition is excellence in execution." -- Tom Peters As we regularly dine at Napoli's I figured it was high time I proferred up a review all professional and like. Located on the beach-side of Melbourne (not to be confused with Melbourne Beach), tucked somewhat beside Walmart is where one will find this gem of a regular eating establishment. As part of the Slice family of Pizza joints, one would expect them to be cookie-cutter production in all they spew forth from the oven, but that is not the case here. As I have mentioned over and over it's all about execution people. As this is one of my go-to spots for a quick Italian-American meal, I was well known to the staff and was greeted like family. I asked my server for a Sausage and Broccoli Rabe sub sandwich, an order of Fettuccine Alfredo and one mushroom pizza. To be honest, I did not know that they were part of the Slice Pizza group, but that does explain the quality of their ingredients. While they are not bottom of the barrel type, they are not top-shelf either, but rather stuck firmly in the entry-level area. What does that mean? If one uses USDA grades as an example, think Standard which is one step up from Canner grade and two steps down from Prime. One would think with standard grade ingredients the victuals would taste sub-par. One bite into the Sausage and Broccoli Rabe Sub and I immediately knew that was not the case. For starters, while they may use standard grade everything else, they make their own bread in the back and it is awesome. This bread was the perfect sandwich roll with a slight break to the crust, a nice tear in the bread and a wonderful chewiness that was indeed scrumptious. Now, you put a well-prepared rabe on just about anything and I am scarfing it down. I just love that stuff and this was executed flawlessly. As if that wasn't enough, the spicy Italian Sausage just sent this over the top. It was cooked to perfection and just spicy enough to slap your taste buds around with a hearty, "Hey, Youse guys! Wake up!" Next up on my epicurean journey was their Fettuccine Alfredo. The fettuccine was cooked to the perfect al dente and very flavorful all by its self. Now, you smother perfectly cooked and tasty Fettuccine with a tangy Alfredo sauce and you are speaking my language. This incredibly creamy sauce had a nice tang to it that gave it a nice finish on the palate. I know the sauce is from a can, but with this execution, it was as if the sauce had participated in an act of Hypergamy. Staying with the theme of execution, we come to the final item to be sampled, the Mushroom Pizza. The mushrooms may have come out of a huge can along with the sauce, but their dough is original and incredible. Like the bread, it is obviously made fresh on-site and it is some of the tastiest pizza dough I have ever had. It is like no other I have experienced. The perfect thickness, the perfect amount of crunch to chew ratio and the flavor was truly unique. As with the previous items, as I have said time and time again, this pizza was made with industrialized toppings, yet executed flawlessly and so tasted extraordinary. The Big Boy says, "If you're beach side and looking for a friendly family type atmosphere with exceptionally executed eateries, stop by Napoli's you won't be disappointed." #iamthebigboy #bigboydiningout“
