“KEN'S BBQ: I have eaten a lot of bar-b-que over the years and I guess I'm lucky because I don't think I've ever had any "bad" bar-b-que! But Ken's is #1 on my list. There are things that make certain BBQ restaurants stand out for me, for instance: Restaurants that have personable and efficient staff; Employees that actually remember you and bother to know your name; Recipes that make for that consistent taste and flavor that keep you coming back for more. But most of all, I love that you see the owner and their family on the floor, with rolled up sleeves serving, busing tables, cashiering and working along side their employees to accomplish the job at hand. It speaks volumes about the values and commitment of the owners. Also, ALL THE FOOD IS ALWAYS DELICIOUS! Dine in or take out! Maybe I'm biased because I have lived in Lake City my whole life and I can't even remember Lake City without Ken's BBQ.....In fact, I don't want a Lake City without Ken's BBQ!! One more thing: SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESSES!!“

“Very very very good sandwiches! We had a Korean BBQ beef sandwich, a beef brisket burger and what felt like half a ton of sensational fries. Drinks are “refill”. The staff was very friendly and we received our food quickly. The places outside are also quite nice.“

“Great BBQ—we were first timers. I got 1/2 chicken, husband got 10 rib rack. We got coleslaw, collards and mac & cheese for sides. Everything falling off the bone delicious. Reasonable prices too. And we had the leftovers for lunch the next day. The manager, Brandon?, came over and brought samples of the sides we hadn’t ordered, plus coupons for our next visit. Staff couldn’t have been nicer! We were visiting from out of state—otherwise we’d be regulars!“

“I went to the Choo-Choo’s food truck on Hwy 301 & Old Tampa Road in Palmetto. The bbq ribs are 10/10!! Do not waste your money on the well established BBQ restaurant down the road, this food truck blows them away!! The ribs are meaty, juicy and very tender!! FYI - They’re open Fri-Sat-Sun from 9am to sellout (around 3pm).“

“Overall good experience. I was worried at first however. Came in on a Saturday morning with the farmers market going outside. Sat at the bar to not take up a table with only 1 person. There were about 10 seats available at the bar. Bartender was weeded with 3 parties totaling 8 people though. Took about 10-15 minutes to even get acknowledged. He offered me a menu, told him I was ready to order and had just looked it up on my phone. He proceeded to turn around and take care of someone else. Finally he came back to me, took my order and it came out quickly. But while waiting I began noticing the amount of flies and fruit flies in the area that seemed to just congregate around the bar. I didn't notice the problem elsewhere. They had the mini spinning fans on the bar to try and keep them away but to no avail. I think if the bar gets a thorough deep clean the flies would disappear. Once the food arrived, the pulled pork under eggs and potatoes were good. Some of the best barbecue I'd had. Didn't require any sauce. I'm overall had higher hopes. I think if the bartender wasn't so weeded at the beginning with only a few orders and the flies weren't an issue it would be a 5 star perfect visit.“
