“This is a great spot for a casual dinner and if you are lucky enough to get a spot outside to eat, you will have a great view of the ocean and sunset. Had the spicy pork tacos which were delicious, just wish a little spicier and the sauce it comes with on the side isn't a spicy sauce at all, reminded me more of a salad dressing so I wish I would've substituted it with a spicer version. But nonetheless the atmosphere and service was great and would definitely come back.“
“I haven't stayed at this hotel, but enjoy the delicious local food in the restaurant. I especially love to eat their famous pork chops and homemade hamberger steaks. The hotel will soon close but i heard the restaurant will remain open. If you want some good local grinds when up mauka, you gotta stop by Managos.“
“This little coffee shop was a key ingredient of our dream vacation. We appreciate customer service as much as good food and they had both! They worked hard but they always greeted their "Lovelies"with smiling faces. Don't overthink it Fish n Chips all day long and waffles for breakfast! And every coffee we had over our 4 weeks was excellent. It was our first restaurant and after all the great experiences we made sure it was our last restaurant on this dream vacation. We'll always be back and wish nothing but success to everyone at this little treasure! M & M from St. Louis MO“
“Amazing food, extremely polite waitress. They just started staying open tell 5:00, and seating customers until 4:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, glad we decided to have an early dinner. Highly recommend. Def will send any friends that are visiting the island to eat here.“
“Excellent!! Traveling around Kona and the west island, this is a bit of a smaller town find. If you’re not sure you’ll be in the area, I’d recommend making the detour to ensure a stop! This place was featured on Guy’s Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives TV show and we totally get why. Easily our favorite lunch on the west side of the island. We enjoyed one of the burgers, some shrimp & ono curry, as well as the lilikoi lemonade. IMO the soup of the day - some sausage chowder- was the ultimate star. Could eat that by the gallon. All of it was fabulous. Even the ketchup… special and tasty. Buy a bottle to take home!Servers were busy and still made sure to take good care of you, too. Rounded out the experience nicely.“
“Wonderful view as the sun set, and GREAT service. Was told it was a 40min wait w/o reservations on a Th night, but were seated in 20. Excellent fish tacos, pasta, and fish and chipsParking: Small lot so chances are good you will park on the street but likely close by“
“Perfectly located next to the ocean with crashing waves, good food and friendly staff! I enjoyed the Poke pie bowl (delicious) and my spouse ordered the trio sliders with spicy fries. The atmosphere alone encourages us to go back (there doesn't seem to be many restaurants ON the water) but we'll definitely be back for more great eats also.“
“Good ambience outdoor seating with a great view. Service is also quick and folks behind the counter are friendly and helpful.Vegetarian options: Able to customize oatmeal by using vegan milk (oat or almond) and add blueberries and strawberries to the hot oatmeal. Same for latte.“
“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jackie Rey's in Kona, and oh, what a treat! The food was absolutely divine, with each dish more delicious than the last. Standouts included:- Pork Chop: Tender, juicy, and full of flavor- Lamb Shanks: Fall-off-the-bone tender and richly flavored- Duck Breast: Cooked to perfection, with a crispy skin and succulent meatThe culinary expertise and attention to detail in each dish were impressive. However, the cocktails could use some improvement. Unfortunately, they were watered down and lacked the strength and flavor I crave in a good cocktail.Despite this, I highly recommend Jackie Rey's for its exceptional food and warm atmosphere. With a few tweaks to their mixology, this restaurant would be a true gem!“
“We joined friends for dinner here last night. We all really enjoyed the eggplant appetizer. I had the fresh catch with the lemon caper sauce. The mahi was prepared just right. They know how to do fish! There were too many good choices for dessert. We ended up splitting the mango cobbler with lilikoi sauce. It was excellent. The service was great! Our server was very patient with us-accomodating us with a table change (it was chilly last night) and gave one of our party extra veggies and re-running the bill for him when there was a small upcharge for using a charge card. There was some nice music which wasn't too loud which we appreciated. We will definately be back-so nice that Kona is getting some good restaurants that don't charge an arm and a leg. The was that the lilikoi martini which was gorgeous to look at could have used a little more kick and be a little less sweet.“
“We went here on Sunday branch with some girl friends to have lunch. Good choices on Sunday branch menu and foods were pretty good. Service was swift and friendly. The only thing was that 2 people from our table ordered Eggs Benedict, but they looked pretty different in sizes and presentation from one another. Hmmm.... Plenty of parking around this bar and they have live band here sometimes. Good place to hang out, drink, eat, play pool etc.“
“The food is amazing and the service is great. We went Saturday morning for breakfast and they had live music with an amazing view. It's a restaurant where you can find FRESH and local food, you're in Hawai'i, NO RUSH! It takes time to cook fresh food, it's not a FAST FOOD! It's a place to go and have a peaceful and lovely breakfast. Awesome for families and couples. Mahalo for our magic experience this morning.“
“Locally owned and operated family restaurant. Fair prices, healthy portions, properly cooked food, good service, and clean environment. I would definitely recommend to anyone. I had the Loco Moco plate and my family had the breakfast plates plus a cheeseburger. Bacon was delicious. Eggs cooked perfectly over medium. Burgers cooked through and not burnt. I wanted to add a little salt and hot sauce to my plate but it was good without as well.“
“The pancakes are to die for in the Lava Java breakfast! Our waitresses, Tracey and Allie, was VERY understanding of our situation with having our 3 yr old child with us and us trying to enjoy the restaurant's breakfast items. They have a great sense of hospitality, and my spouse and I respect them even more for what they do. I highly recommend this place, just be here before 10 am to enjoy their food. Some of the customers here may be disrespectful and rude, but the staff here is DEFINITELY NOT! So thank the staff for what they do every chance that you get while you are there. ?“
“Tom is a stand up guy. Personable, and informative. I walked in with a Bostonian "Hey, ahh, what's the deal with this that and the other thing?" Kind of questioning and he gave me the answers I was looking for. Gave me a big fat bowl of pulled pork and rice to boot. It was worth every penny and I'll likely make it a regular stop. Good people, good food, no complaints.“
