Really great mochi. Ordered a variety of 8 traditional mochi, and they were the freshest and best ones I've had outside of Japan. They used to be cash only, but they seem to take credit cards now ?

It’s hard to say more about Two Ladies Kitchen in Hilo than what’s already been said. The mochi is good and the service you get for the most part is good (it depends sometimes though on time of day and exactly who is helping you). It’s the best mochi shop in Hilo. It’s also pretty much the only mochi shop in Hilo. Their strawberry mochi is still their go to omiyage but it does cost you a bit. I recommend that you order in advance if you’re able to. The line can be very long at times and they either may run out of what you want before you get to the counter or it may take them a bit to make it when you get there. They are strictly takeout only as there is nowhere to sit and eat and only street parking is available.
The presentation of each mochi are so appetizing to look at!!! Well-balanced each flavor, and its sooo good!Will definitely recommend it again to bring back home to Oahu!

My wife and I stood in line for 45 minutes just to order. All these Google reviews said this was the best mochi so we figured it would be worth it. When we finally tried them, we were beyond disappointed. These are the worst mochi we’ve ever had, and we love mochi. We ended up throwing away the entire variety pack.

Maybe I’m not a true mochi connoisseur….. I’m used to the ice cream mochi at my local oriental market in Texas. This is not that. If you are expecting ice cream mochi do not attempt to eat here ? also although I’m not too familiar with legit mochi…. We ordered about 18 different flavors and they almost all tasted the exact same…..

My favorite was the butter mochi & Okinawan sweet potato, but there’s definitely something for everyone!Stand in line, place your order, then wait for your order to be called. This process could be improved for a more efficient process, but it wasn’t too bad. They also have pre-packaged variety packs to choose from that you don’t have to wait for. We waited maybe 15 minutes on a Saturday in February but I can imagine the wait being longer on busier weekends.
