“What a beautiful candy shop; it was like stepping back in time. You will find a large assortment of different chocolates and bon bons. We did buy several small boxes that will be gifts for friends in Japan. The customer service was excellent, and very helpful. To my surprise they had windmill cookies. Part of my heritage is Dutch and I have been familiar and fond of them from a young age. On your way out a cup of gelato is a must, the chocolate was divine.“

“Ran through this afternoon and I just have to say that the gal working was exceptional! She was entirely alone, busy, and nailed our order! The food was on point, the burgers were neat, we got napkins, and even sauce I forgot to ask for. One woman doing the work of at least three and better than all the rest! “I enjoy the ice cream from here. They are a small shop though, so when it's busy(which is good) they don't have a lot of seating. They offer pretty much the same things at the larger ones. The service can be somewhat slow som. Overall the ice cream is good and it's a nice spot for a quick treat.“

“Oh man… I am so glad I stopped here. Randomly saw this place on the way to the store and decided to stop on my way back. 10/10 loved my custard. I got a medium turtle sundae and can’t finish it, but I’m going to make myself eat as much as I can because it’s so delicious. The parking lot and exterior is rinky dink, but that adds to the feel of how long this place has been here.I’ll be leaving Iowa soon, but I’m definitely coming back to try their shakes. I’m so so pleasantly surprised at how good it is“
“Would absolutely recommend Uptown Dairy. Growing up near the WI border my family enjoyed Cedar Crest ice cream as a special treat and I’m happy to see it here in Iowa! Hands down some of the best small batch ice cream I’ve ever had and plenty of variety to choose from. I love that Uptown Dairy is right by the High Trestle Trail Ankeny trailhead and makes for a perfect treat after a long ride. If you love coffee and haven’t tried the affogato I would definitely give this Italian coffee/ice cream desert a shot! You can really tell the owner puts a tremendous amount of pride and care into Uptown Dairy“

We got street corn, mango enchalidito, cotton candy swirl and super hero; all of our treats were amazing! The employees were very nice to us and were fast with service. 10/10 recommend giving this place a try!“
“This is fast food, keep in mind, so 4 stars here isn't the same as 4 stars for a sit down meal with linen tablecloths and a full bar staff...But the truth is, when we pop through for a quick bite the food is consistent, usually speedy, and you can count on being handled in a similar, pleasing, fashion whether you're looking for something at noon, evening, or off hours... I've visited several others drive throughs that simply didn't keep those basics alive. I like the quality of their food when you bring context to bear, so I'm quite willing to continue patronizing them in at the Altoona location.“
