“Trailside Tap has an interesting and varying menu. I follow the Instagram page to see the specials each week and what is new. The outside patio really is the best in Ankeny and with periodic live music, there is more reason to visit than the food and beverage which happen to be excellent.“

“We chose to check out in a lane that had a first day cashier. The girl bagging the groceries was very helpful to him and us. He accidentally double charged us and the girl took it upon herself to get the approval from management to get it deducted and get us going to keep the line moving!!! Very impressed!! Thank you to the two working isle 5 today!! You are what Hy-Vee is supposed to be!!!“

“I have eaten here too many times to count--at least 80-100 times over the past 15 years! Best cheeseburger and fries (ask them to make the fries extra crispy!!)! Their bacon wrapped tator tots and their humongous tenderloins are something you shouldn't miss either. For that matter, everything is good! Beer is cold! And the place is clean! Don't just drive by! Stop in and have a bite to eat!“

“We had a party of 10 on a Sunday evening. Every aspect was great! Everybody had something different, and they all raved about their dish. Large servings. Fabulous $5.00 margaritas! One person who doesn't care for Mexican food had the chicken wings and raved that he had been searching for wings like these since eating some in a famous restaurant 20 years ago. Service was fast and exceptionally friendly. Great prices, too!Dietary restrictions: They have a selection for diabetics upon requestWheelchair accessibility: No steps to maneuver“

“Slid into Norwood Inn for a quick lunch today... My first time there. One of the little local spots I've wanted to check out. It's small but easy to find on a corner lot. The parking lot was filled with 4x4 pickup trucks that almost obscured the building from view. This is what I'd call a true dive or a hole in the wall... And I loved it. I lived in, and graduated from, a very small rural Iowa town. I left there when I joined the Navy at 18 in 1988. Boy this place brought me back home. Something that doesn't happen often in the city... It was like every bar and grill I grew up around. Dimly lit. Seat yourself. The weathered tables and chairs bar and barstools. An older obviously local crowd of regulars. A no nonsense staff. A mix of homemade and Sysco food. The TVs behind the bar were playing football recaps and the national news. I suppose you can wait for your server to bring you your bill at the end of your meal...or you can just walk up to the bar and take care of things there. I ordered a variation of what seems to probably be their most well known item. A hot Italian sausage sandwich with cheese, pizza sauce, and hot peppers. Along with onion rings and a coke... It was really good and reasonably priced! Our two meals and drinks came to $26 and change before tip. I kind of wish this place was closer to the West side. It's the kind of bar I could honestly enjoy landing in and having a couple beers at on the regular. I have a couple of those places now. The spaces and people just don't evoke the same memories. You know what I mean? On to Eastside Eddie's, Skip's, and Henry J's. I have a few more boxes to check off in 2023.“
