My husband is Czech and he makes wonderful kolaches. But he doesn't do anything near as tasty and clever as this place. We stopped today and got an egg and cheese kolache and a sausage and cheese kolache. Wonderful. The slightly sweet dough with the savory filling was delicious. I regret not buying one of the cream cheese kolaches. We will have to go back. And the price is amazingly low.
Blueberry kolache from Coaches Kolaches Express is my favorite. There are a variety of sweet and savory flavors to choose from. For the best selection, get there early. Located in the Drake area commercial district along University avenue. The little shop is open Tuesday through Saturday, 8 am to noon.
