There was also no clear communication in where to go to get on the waitlist, you can’t wait at the bar so you have to go to a small waiting room down further in the strip mall. But again no one told us where to go to wait and there was no signage.”

“My wife, and I, along with my kids, have been coming here since the "old days". Long before this great deli looked like it does today. This week before last, my wife Andrea, and myself, came in here for our last time before we move to Alabama in May. It was on our "must do" list before we left Iowa for good. We were blessed to not only see Rabbi Jacobson for our visit, but his very kind wife, too. I had informed them that I had been diagnosed with cancer during the summer of 2023, and his wife immediately told me to read the Psalm number relating to my age. Which is 56 right now. In fact, I was told to keep reading this Psalm. How wonderful it is to walk into a deli expecting to grab something to eat, and at the same time receive wisdom and blessings. As a Christian I have always felt blessed, and fortunate, to know Rabbi Jacobson and his family. He's always taken care of me, and I will definitely miss my visits to Des Moines to see him. Shalom, my friend, and thank you for so many wonderful years of good food and great wisdom.”

“We just catered Cinnaholic for our wedding in August and LOVED them. We had the mini cinnamon rolls & cookie dough for our desserts. Shane sat down with us to go over our options and have a taste testing as well. The options were endless and the set up crew did amazing as well. We ended up with more than the tables would hold, and they did an amazing job of getting to people quickly, and made the night great, from the 8 year old, to the birthday boy with some people getting food, and getting drinks to everyone. The environment was classy and intimate, yet casual enough that it felt comfortable and warm. The best part of the meal was the appetizer- the seared ahi tuna is too good for words, just trust me on this and order it! This was a great place to visit for my birthday dinner, and we definitely plan on being back.”

Having been a server in a fine dining restaurant many years ago what stood out to me most at Oak Park, on top of the amazing food and classy aesthetic, was the clockwork like polished service provided by the waiters and sommelier. Maybe it's a post COVID nostalgia for the old days of a well staffed restaurant, but it's been a long time since we've had every need proactively taken care of and plate settings artfully whisked away without thought. Top it off with a great menu and fantastic flavor combinations created by the kitchen team with no detail ignored. Keep up the amazing work!”

“Traveling cross country and stopped for the night in Des Moines. Found Panka looking for vegan options near our hotel. We placed our order and they called me immediately to let me know I ordered a lunch item. I was on the fence about a couple different things I wanted to try so I switched my order to the Tacu Tacu Vegetariano. It was so good!!! My husband was getting annoyed with me because after every bite I said omg!! This is sooooo good!!! They have many vegan options and they were so nice on the phone and accommodating to vegan options. My husband had the shrimp dish and he also loved his. I will vote to stop in Des Moines again just to have dinner at Panka! Yum!!”

Everything we ordered was the perfect temperature and the flavor was was worth every penny though we didn't find it overly expensive at all. I kept it simple and ordered their popular Smashburger and fries. The burger was delicious, the restrooms clean, the staff friendly and engaging, and the atmosphere refreshing. I will definitely be back when the patio opens!”
“Their new location is STUNNING! I've been a stuffed olive fan for a couple of years now. Their spinach dip and Nashville hot sliders pair so perfectly with my favorite strawberry lemon drop martini. It's my usual everytime and NEVER disappoints. I'm so glad they have this new space and will be able to accommodate more people and their outdoor patio will be a game changer. The sides were dynamite (creole mashed potatoes & and corn bread), the mains that I had (ribs, brisket) were just ok.The rub from the ribs was very smoke forward (my hands and clothes actually smelled of smoke for a while after we left) but I didn't get much in the way of flavor past the smoke. The rib meat was fine, if not a little bland.The brisket was less smoke forward but still that was the primary flavor I got. Additionally the brisket was served in one big hunk and it had the taste and feel of a pot roast moreso than what I expect brisket to taste like.The homemade sauces did a lot to impart flavor though. I would go back and try some of the other offerings though.”

“Bang for your buck, you can’t beat Tacos Degollado, just east of 19th n University in Des Moines. This place wins HANDS DOWN in my opinion. Always have gotten the “special” part of the order right for everyone I have brought there. No onions never had onions, no cilantro always without cilantro. You cannot beat this for the quality, quantity and price. In DSM, as far as our street food goes, it’s the best in its category. You won’t be disappointed. Mucho Gisto!”
“I highly recommend Black Cat Ice Cream! They have a lot of unique homemade ice cream flavors that are creative and seasonably appropriate. It’s a fun experience with the ice cream options and the atmosphere in the shop and outdoor seating options. I’ve tried their scoops of ice cream, and the ice cream nuggets dipped in fudge. It doesn’t matter what I get, so far I’ve been happy with my selections each time. If you love ice cream and are looking for something fun and unique, this is the place for you!”

“Me and my daughter went here this weekend, and overall it was great! This is my 11 year old daughter’s review. The inside was super cool, and my daughter really enjoyed the gingerbread house’s. Also, the inside swings as a chairs were a very smart idea. The food was pretty good as well. My daughter and I normally go to Starbucks to get cake pops, and the ones we got here were so much better! The taste was better, it was slightly cheaper, and way bigger than Starbucks. The only problem I had with it is it crumbled apart really easily. The edible cookie dough was amazing, despite the small amount they gave you. It was still pretty decent though. The variety of cupcakes they have is amazing too. And we also got the “Muddy Buddy” cupcake, 8/10! Amazing! The service was great as well. There is so many kind things I could say about this place, but I don’t wanna keep repeating myself. Keep up the good work!”

“We were here on a Friday night with a group of 8. We had a reservation and we were seated immediately. The owner stopped by and said hello before our waiter even got there. The service was great the whole evening, our waiter knew exactly when to come back and when to let us be and just enjoy the dinner.The food was great, it was a 4 course fixed price menu. Everything was delicious and the portions were just right.The brick walls add to the already great atmosphere. The restaurant was great and we will definitely be back in the future!”

I got a medium turtle sundae and can’t finish it, but I’m going to make myself eat as much as I can because it’s so delicious. The parking lot and exterior is rinky dink, but that adds to the feel of how long this place has been here.I’ll be leaving Iowa soon, but I’m definitely coming back to try their shakes. About 2 miles from the store.On august 22 I went to taco bell down the street I waited 11 minutes, did not get waited on while everybody at the drive thru was getting waited on (about 8 to 10 people). The manager said after eleven minutes it'd be quicker if you used the kiosk. I am not an employee of taco bell. I generally don't use self check out either.At any rate I drove down the street. Four minutes away walked up to the counter at taco john's. After three minutes I had my food and was out the door. I just want to say a lot of people only leave feedback when they're upset. “I forgot to ask the young gentleman's name but I think he is a managerHe and the owners should be very proud of how well he treats customers and much more that he does to make sure everything is like the customer wants or needs it to be; plus he thinks about what else I would like and respectfully asks. I rarely see anyone anywhere that takes customer service to a level that he does. I used to own and operate two businesses and customer service was taken beyond what anyone could imagine but this was decades ago and I counted on Word of Mouth Advertising. When I see anyone that is this amazing or even close to this I let them know and I have let managers, supervisors and owners know even if it involves a phone call or email that I think someone is exceptional at what they do and at times I will say they have an old soul which doesn't always have anything to do with their age and my favorite part is what I call allowing their genuine selves shine through including a sense of humor.I understand that some people have to be professionals but if they are too professional , I say they have too much starch in their collar. I was a little disappointed related to how little is on a sandwich and that what is there doesn't spread to the ends of the buns but I do appreciate the quality and this was when he wasn't there.I asked him about something I needed to be a little different so the bread wouldn't be too crunchy/chewy and he did this to help me and understood that I am not able to chew as well as I used to be able to do and I understand why many people would like the bread to be like what makes it more difficult for me to chew.It is a nice atmosphere there.I ate quickly the last time due to I saw the open and closed hours for the first time and I clean up any mess but when I was struggling to walk with all the shopping bags hanging on my walker to exit the same way I entered the door was locked and I couldn't get anyone's attention so I had to go back across the restaurant, exit and squeeze everything through the vintage revolving door and I got stuck in there for a while.They were busy doing all required to close and there was some other customers that came in about 30 minutes before they close.Not Complaining, Just Explaining.Vegetarian options: I didn't have time to notice.Dietary restrictions: I feel sure they will do the best they can to help with this.I asked for what he had recommended previously and they did have the small disposable container of Balsamic Vinegar dressing to dip the sandwich in. If in doubt, go with the fried chicken. The portions are very large and it comes with two sides and their yummy garlic mashed potatoes. My husband had the green beans and Bubba salad for his sides.I chose the large Bubba salad with grilled salmon. Unfortunately the picture of my salmon doesn’t show the great presentation of it as I cut it up before taking a photo.Both of our dinners were delicious. We also liked the ambiance and decor. The owner, Ron, was bartending and was very friendly talking to everyone at the bar. He also gave the first round of drinks for free and thanked us multiple times for coming in. The food, as always, was incredible. We had the onion rings for an appetizer. They are thin type and were very good. For entrees we had chicken parm, pasta fresca, and the baked lasagna. “This grocery store was within walking distance of our hotel (Hotel Fort Des Moines). It has everything you would need here including Starbucks. They have a great frozen food section as well as a wonderful bakery and meat/fish areas. We were able to get 24 waters for $2.99 which was fabulous. I was able to pick up some snacks for my kids as well as healthy items for myself. All the employees are friendly and helpful. You could basically find anything here you would need- sushi, wine, liquor area, hibachi and more. Also, you don't need to be a special member to enjoy the discounts some items might have!”
“We were visiting from out of town in late January. Des Moines had just had a heavy snowfall and the streets were not in great shape so we wanted to find a BBQ restaurant close to our hotel and found Rrackss via the Yelp app. We were there at 6:00 on a Friday night and there were no customers in the restaurant. We thought they might be closed. Parking was limited as they share a small parking lot with other businesses. It was dark, raining hard, and the street in front of the building was very narrow because of the piled up snow and it did not feel like we could park there. The food was delicious, served quickly, and really hit the spot. Another couple came into the restaurant shortly after we did and with only four customers the waiters were able to be very attentive. Come on, Des Moines, support this great restaurant!”

They had your typical full bar, bottles of crisp domestics, and a handful of beers on tap. Including a rotating seasonal beer and this time of year it was Shiner Cheer! It is cash only, but no worries there, as they do offer an ATM in the back. We had such a great time making conversation with some of the friendly regulars and having a couple rounds we decided it was probably a good idea to get some food in our stomachs. They had build your own pizzas with about every topping you would expect and also 4 specialty pizzas. We chose the Cheeseburger and it did not disappoint. “This restaurant is located on the 1st level of the Kruse building downtown. It is very stark and modern. The staff are Uber nice and extremely helpful. The serving size is plentiful. The menu is small and has just a few different options. The place has concrete floors and with tables and chairs.You order at the counter and they bring you your food. As I said the staff is extremely attentive.”

“We had a group of 14+ with a mix of kids and adults. Our server was awesome, chill, and completely on her game with our large group! I wish I could recall her name but she was awesome. Can honestly say I haven't had better service for such a large group. Can't forget about the manager who was super responsive to our large group! “We have eaten here years ago while traveling through and they did not disappoint again. My schnitzel first came out burnt but quickly asked for it to be replaced and wow it was amazing. Potatoes were a little cool but salad was great. Husbands knockwurst was fantastic. We had the large pretzel and was perfect! Can you say leftovers!”
