“The food was delicious. The atmosphere was great. HOWEVER, our server was EXCEPTIONAL. In most cases, wait staff will make or break an experience for fine dining. Charismatic, friendly, and helpful was what we got tonight. We don’t make it out to the Waukee area often but I’m so glad we did tonight! Thank you Lauren for a special night out.You went above and beyond to make our experience one that we absolutely couldn’t forget. :)“
“This place is a hidden treasure people talk about burgers being good. This place is beyond good 10 out of 10 if you’ve never ate here you need to!!! The burgers are amazing. So many good choices hands-down best restaurant I’ve been in in the last five years!! The service is also amazing fast and friendly!!“
“A cozy local bar with a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is fairly small, but the offered choices taste great and they have some daily specials. If you love Iowa-style PORK TENDERLOIN SANDWICHES, you'll want to check their's out. The breading tastes correct, not like they used pepper-spiced fried chicken breading. Also, the oil is used primarily for tenderloins and fries so it doesn't have the undesirable subflavors imparted from onion rings or fish. And the food and beverages come at very reasonable prices!“
“Atmosphere is great, went to there one year anniversary the other night and was great. Tried the wings with the striking sparrow sauce and did not disappoint, wings came out crispy and perfect, plus the patio is good and good for a summer hangout with outside games.“
“Had a good time with friends, staff was friendly and have AMAZING patience. It got crowed quickly, with a very diverse crowd. Definitely meet some interesting people. Ella and the other bartender (didn't catch his name but he was a big guy with a beard) are probably some of the most efficient bartenders I ever saw in action. You guys rock! 5 STARS“
“I had to fast all day to have my blood drawn for my physical exam. I was STARVING! So, my first & only meal all day was here! So good! Plus The Old Creamary ice cream next door. Yum! (I don't think this food & drink boosted my Cholesterol #s in the right direction!)“
“Great bartender! He's always been super friendly and engaging whenever my group comes through. The whole atmosphere up there is really cool and the beers they have are great. Love going here to try some new imported beer I've never heard of. I typically eat downstairs at the Royal Mile, then head up here for a couple drinks. Definitely recommend making the trip downtown for this place.“
“MiG's has the best pancakes. I also enjoy their chicken salad sandwich. I'm working my way through their menu. The service is good and friendly. MiG's had the ambiance of a very nice bar. It's clean and is a comfortable place to just have a beer and watch a game. Great place to vist“
“The Royal Mile is an "English Pub" that really wants to be an Irish Pub. They should change the name in go all in for the ☘️. I say this as a compliment.Lots of great whiskey options and they know how to pour a great pint of Guinness and the servers have all been friendly.“
“Went on Wednesday for the pizza special, buy a large specialty and get a medium two topping free! Service was fast, friendly, and interactive. Drinks were refilled in a timely, friendly m manner. Pizza is a thin cracker crust, toppings were just the right amount!“
“My daughter and her family took us to Dam Pub this evening. I wasn't expecting much but I was so wrong! What a fantastic place for drinks and a great meal! The adult beverages were tasty and terrific! Everyone had pizza except me as the cold weather prompted me to try the chicken and noodles. The appetizer was fried portobello mushrooms with a parmesan dipping sauce! Unreal! This was the first time visit for us but it will not be last! 80's theme to the music and decor! We loved it!Parking: You need to park across the street in the strip mall parking lot. We easily found a close spot.“
“The Park Avenue Pub has been around forever, well known on the Southside of Des Moines and largely remains unchanged. Still operating under normal pub hours and participating in local pool league tournaments. If you’re looking for fancy, this is not your place. If you’re looking for an old school simple watering hole and place to grab a bite, this is it. A small group of us still get together periodically on Saturdays for sausage sandwiches and a couples beers. Always a thumbs up on the sandwiches and they are reasonably priced. Also, plenty of parking in the back.“
“I really like the look of the place. Very open and inviting. Good atmosphere. Very friendly staff. I ordered my usual bacon cheeseburger plain with barbecue sauce on the side and fries. My dining companion got a pizza burger with tater tots. As for the accuracy of our order. Our fries and tater tots were in the wrong baskets. And my burger was not plain. It had salad all over it. It did look good and fresh if you like salad on your burger. After I fixed my burger we dug in. The fries and tater tots were perfect. Hot and delicious. I was told the pizza burger was excellent. As for my bacon cheeseburger. The bun was fresh and toasted perfectly. The cheese was tasty and just the right amount. The bacon was slightly undercooked for my taste. And only 2 slices. The burger was easily identifiable as a premade frozen patty. And had no char. A little disappointing. The other elements made it worth eating though. A good overall experience. Looking forward to going back on Wing Wednesday for their chicken wings. All in all definitely worth checking out.“
“I love the dark, Irish pub feel. Felt like I was back in the UK. There was only a single bartender, but he seemed to get the drinks out quickly. You order at the counter, and it's cash only. There's an ATM available in case you're not carrying any. Luckily, our friend had some cash. Seems like it's a much-loved neighborhood dive! Will remember to bring cash next time.“
“I think I found me pot o gold! Yes my name is Patrick so if you couldn't tell by the name my Irish roots go all the way back to the Island. I wouldn't call me St. Patrick by any means because as legend says he feared nothing not even death! .. I will say I won't be scared to come back to Kathy's. The bartender was super welcoming, and chatty, He even shook my hand at the end of my visit. He was very attentive to all 10 of us in the bar, all from different walks of life! I was super excited that a guy brought in and set up his daughters girl scout cookies to sell to patrons and yes next thing you know everyone in the bar is sharing a variety of Girl Scout Cookies! Law and Order SVU was on the Tv, William Shatner's Christmas album was on the touch tunes and I enjoyed a lazy Sunday afternoon with a cool crew of folks. The place is cool and has framed photos of famous people with Irish roots.. We ain't just talking Conan, Bono, and Van Morrison we are talking Hitchcock and Detective Benson from Law and Order SVU's mom Jayne Mansfield.. Who I happened to just look up on Wiki to make sure on the spelling of her name and I discovered that Jimi Hendrix played on her music she put out in the 60's... WOW all I can say.. I feel pretty LUCKY to know that and pretty LUCKY to have gone to Kathy's.“
“4.0* (out of 5) Food: 4* Atmosphere: 3* Value: 5* Service: 4* 08/06/2023 This place's Italian Beef was highly recommended by a reviewer on another site and finally got the chance to try it today. This is definitely a neighborhood bar - as several other patrons / regulars asked us how we liked our drinks and dinners. Granted, the area looks a little on the rough side as you pull up but the service and food were both great - all handled by one lady behind the bar. On the recommendation of another patron, we started out with Bloody Marys with pickle vodka and I highly recommend them - not too salty or thick. For our meals, my wife ordered the Italian Beef (see picture) and I went with the Chicago Dog (see picture). As always, we each shared tastes and found both dishes to be very good. Our neighbors ordered the Italian Beef with Cheese (see picture) and Chili Dog (see picture) - and both of them thought they tasted great, commenting especially about how good the chili was. “I kinda hate to share about this place. Now all of you will go there and I won't get a table. ?The Sunday smashburger on an apple fritter is-to-die for. The only thing that could make it better would be a side of coleslaw, so I could put it on the burger ?Spicy Virgin Bloody Mary was ?Two friends had Biscuits and Gravy and both said it was really good. The pancakes were big and fluffy.“
“This is an iconic dive bar in Ankeny. The bartender was a friendly fellow that mixed up a tasty shot for us. The karaoke may not have been the best for singing quality, but it was hilarious. And everyone is more than welcome to give it their best shot. The folks we met were all friendly and quite the characters. We had one heck of good time and plan on stopping back next time we're in town. Thanks Grubb's Pub!“
“i have always loved coming to gt for the community that partakes, but visiting mike, chloe, and tia teaches what it’s like to be grateful. they happen to be the best bartenders i know and i’m so pleased to know them, even if i may not know them well. im pleased to see that somebody besides me makes sure i’m safe.“
“Came in for a quick bite to eat but slow service prevented the quick part. However, the food was pretty good. I had the French dip and there was plenty of beef. The fries were plain if you don't like seasoned. All other sides is extra $. Someone at the table ordered the plain cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. They said it was ok, nothing special. We both received plenty of fries which was nice. The place was loud but we were still able to hear each other at the table with no difficulty. There are several TVs if you are interested in seeing a game, it looked like every seat had a good view.“
