“I love coming here when I visit Iowa City! The atmosphere is so calm and relaxing. They have a great book selection and so much to look at. I haven't gotten to try the café yet, but my coworkers say they have delicious tea! One day I'll get to have a coffee or tea here and I'm sure it'll be wonderful since everything else about the bookstore is!“

“The Thai tea at The Encounter Cafe is a must-try for anyone visiting. Its vibrant color and perfect blend of sweetness and spices make every sip a delightful experience. It's clear the cafe prioritizes quality ingredients to achieve that authentic Thai flavor. Highly recommended for a refreshing and exotic beverage choice. My beautiful niece, and I really enjoy it.“

“I work downtown and stopped into Mammitas for a coffee. The atmosphere is so cozy and inviting. The staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable about their products. Upon their recommendation, I ordered a Horchata and it was the best drink I've ever had! I didn't get food this trip, but I've had it before and it is excellent. I highly recommend this amazing local spot!“

“I had the fruit salad and brisket sandwich. Both were delicious! The fruit was ripe and fresh cut. We also shared a piece of the chocolate cake between three of us and still had leftovers! It was a super generous helping and very decadent. The atmosphere is quaint and fun, with beautiful light fixtures. The gals serving us were friendly and helpful great job and thank you!Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp entrance in the back. I recommend bringing help or calling ahead, as you'll need to maneuver the gift shop area. Totally doable with care, just be aware.“

“Just got a coffee at the drive up window, was pleasantly surprised by the adult server, greeted me with a smile had my order out quickly with a nice pleasant little chat.Radically different than the slack-jawed teenage lobotomies that work at DD across the street!Keep up the good work guys!“
“Stopped here while being shown around downtown Iowa City and so glad we did! I love truffles and the ones I got from here were fantastic, as well as the cheesecake gelato. I can’t wait to go back and try more of the chocolate that they offer!“

“Really good drip coffee. I've had a latte there before, and it could have been a little stronger on the espresso taste, but that also could have been a result of me getting a breve. Idk, I don't have breves super frequently so I wouldn't count it against the place. Employees have always been speedy and respectful. I've also never heard of massive employee/worker drama happening here, unlike a different coffee shop, so that is a HUGE plus.“

“Overall, this place is great for brunch or lunch. They have a lot of vegan options, but I would make sure you ask your host before adding your name to the waitlist if all their vegan options are in stock. When we ate here they were out of Just egg. They had about a 45 minute wait on a Saturday around 12 pm. I thought the impossible burger was pretty good! Reasonably priced.“

“I love coffee, but not a connoisseur. I usually get Starbucks as a treat when I'm traveling. I grabbed an oat milk latte here when staying at the hotel and wow!! The coffee is incredible! My cup made Starbucks taste like water. And honestly the price was less than anything I've ordered at Starbucks. I'm craving my next cup!Dietary restrictions: Oat milk for dairy freeKid-friendliness: Cute little kids table and chairsWheelchair accessibility: Elevator to the second floor. Although not sure you can use it if not staying at the hotel, because it has a room key lock.“

“Took myself to Soseki on a date and I was throughly pleased! I got Crab Rangoons and the Spicy Tuna Roll as an appetizer and they were both delicious! For my entrée I got the Mongolian Shrimp and added Beef. It was absolutely amazing. The flavor was on point and thanks to my waiter Seb I got more bang for my buck! Definitely recommending and definitely will be returning! Total experience was a 10/10!“
“Everything I have tried here is really good, and the food they sell down at the farmers market is out of this world delicious. The owners are kind and make you feel welcome, as do the employees. Last time I was in they had added some fantastic art. I cannot recommend this place enough!“
“Nice corner location for this cute coffee shop!It is adorable, and there are a few seats to sit inside and attached with clothing store. Selected menu but amazing authentic coffee “best Vanilla coffee”. I will definitely come here again when I’m back in university campus.“
“What a great drive-thru experience. Prior to this visit I was a Scooter's virgin. Crazy, I know. I've lived in Iowa how long and have never been to a Scooter's. I pulled into the drive-thru around 1:15pm on a Thursday afternoon. With no other customers behind me in line, I told the employee I had never been to Scooter's and asked about what she recommended. She was super friendly and gave me several ideas. Ultimately I chose the Iced Turtle Latte, but had it Almond Joy flavored instead. I learned that you can ask for all sorts flavors that mimic your favorite candy bar. Neat. The drink was very tasty and the whipped cream and chocolate drizzle was perfectly executed. Scooter's as a much bigger menu than I thought. Can we talk about the cute sticker? I didn't know this was a Scooter's signature thing until I researched their website. As a self-proclaimed sticker lover and long-time collector of stickers, this is very cool. I definitely plan to return. I feel like I'm semi shopping local because Scooter's is a Nebraska based business. :) Outstanding customer service, large variety of items on the menu, competitive prices. Don't forget to tip the employees. Recommend.“

“Tru Coffee is incredible, it's everything I want out of a go-to coffee shop! The owners and staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and the coffee is really good, high quality, and very well made. The space is large and has nice bright natural light, beautifully decorated with many happy, healthy plants. Additionally, I browsed the resale clothing rack and found a vintage Levi's denim jacket for $30 and was thrilled! Went for the coffee, but the inexpensive resale and hand crafted merchandise was yet another bonus for me!If we lived locally, we would visit Tru Coffee regularly, but we will absolutely be back when we're in town- thanks for a great experience!“

“The service is so great and employees are very friendly every time I’m here! My coffee always turns out perfectly! It also doesn’t seem to get too loud or busy here, as it does at a lot of other coffee shops. I highly recommend visiting!!Parking: Limited number of spots, but I’ve never had an issue finding a spot!“
“Best quality coffee in Iowa City, and I suspect, the state. Beans are fair trade from small farms and air roasted fresh (unlike large producers who burn their beans to a crisp). I’m especially a fan of their light roasts, in particular, the Guatemala.“

“Cute coffee shop in the heart of Iowa city. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy. My white mocha was delicious, the menu seems like there is something for everybody. It is family friendly and looks like it’s a pretty popular spot for the college kids. Will definitely be back!“

“This is a wonderful place to study, meet someone or even just for some quiet time. It wasn't too loud, and the music is also not so loud or distracting. There are many different kinds of sitting arrangements, with sufficient outlets as well.“
