“I am fairly new to the Des Moines area, but what I do enjoy is the small town charm in a big city, which includes finding a local bakery to get fresh bread. I found this charming bakery named Big Sky Bread near my home and finally found what I've been searching for! The parking lot is to the left of the bakery, and when you enter, there are a few racks of bread loaves, homemade granola, local jam/honey, and pastries. I tried the Italian loaf, German rye sliced bread, their very own pop tarts, and cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting. I forgot to take a picture, but they were all very beautifully made. The owner/cashier Terry was kind and let me know they also have a booth in the Downtown Farmer's Market in May. I am excited to return again for a restock in the near future. “I dont give 5 stars for any company.This is far my favorite bread next Brownberry.I try to avoid not buy the company branded labels like Hyvee, Fareway or Great Value (Walmart brand). Just too bad I dont see this brand in Walmart.i know some Walmart Great Value bread is Country Hearth bread just the private labelHyvee sometimes is under Sara Lee.Just like tortilla- Mama Lupa's has there private label for HyveeSara Lee is just too expensive. “My husband and I have been regular Perkins customers for many years. It's our go-to restaurant - and this location is our favorite! The staff is always friendly and treats us like family. Except for a very few occasions when they have been short-staffed, or the restaurant is especially busy, service is generally always excellent and timely. The servers are the best - friendly and attentive, and always open to accommodate special requests or menu substitutions. The food is always tasty and cooked to order. On the few occasions when a food item isn't quite up to expectations, they are eager to make it right, or substitute another dish. Some of my favorite entrees are the Hibachi Grilled Shrimp and the Honey Mustard Chicken Crunch Salad. And the Pumpkin Pancakes are scrumptious! Food is reasonably priced, although beverage prices seem a little high. But refills are free and unlimited. Last night we both had a lunch duo with a nice tossed salad and a generous half Chicken Melt sandwich - more than enough food to fill us up.The decor at this location is somewhat dated, and could stand to be refreshed, but overall, the restaurant appears clean and comfortable. One of the things we appreciate is the generally low noise level. My husband has hearing problems, and Perkins is one of the few places we can go for dinner and easily hear each other, even when it's a pretty full house.“

“We just catered Cinnaholic for our wedding in August and LOVED them. We had the mini cinnamon rolls & cookie dough for our desserts. Shane sat down with us to go over our options and have a taste testing as well. The options were endless and the set up crew did amazing as well. Would highly recommend Cinnaholic for desserts for any event you may have in the future.“
“Such a nice place and it is bigger than I remember it being. There are so many food options and the desserts look amazing. I had the chicken Alfredo and I loved it. The general Manager Archie was one of the nicest people I have met and made sure we had everything we needed. Food came out very fast and staff was nice. Also place is very clean.“
“We've been coming here since it was Chu Chu donuts, and the new owners haven't missed a beat. Big fan of the dough and how the donut itself is so delicious! I've had donuts where the only redeeming quality was the toppings and the dough itself was lackluster, but Ambrosia does it right.Our favorites are the best claws, apple fritters, and cronuts.Such friendly owners and staff as well!“
“Stopped in at the Urbandale location today to place two separate orders both for 2 doz donuts. Not only were the ladies both helpful, but they're kind and generous. I'd been having a rough couple of weeks and both ladies paid me just a simple complement on my outfit. Little do they know that small act of kindness not only boosted my confidence, but they helped me see myself in a better light. Also the donuts are amazing, the location is spotlessly clean. Looking forward to stopping in again.“
