“I have been going here for years and I'm happy they survived COVID. They were mostly take out until recently, when they reopened their dine in area. It's a quiet, nice restaurant with good sushi. I have gone to other places for sushi both in surrounding suburbs and in the city and this place is still the best one.“
“JJ is our favorite place to go. We have been coming here for lunch and dinner like forever. This place offers a variety of popular Thai street food dishes and they are all heavenly delicious. Note: Try their Khao Kha Moo and Fried Tofu Salad (Nam Tok), you can't go wrong with those!“
“food: 4service: 4.5ambiance: 4fun atmosphere, lovely service. had some really tasty bites (laad moo tod) and then ordered the whole fried snapper which was very good.sadly the tom kha soup, and actually everything in general, came out either all at once or at weird moments during our dinner. the soup came out almost after we had finished with everything. and it wasn’t my fav tom kha soup i’ve had in the city.“
“Absolutely incredible place!! It's definitely the best sushi and Thai on the north side of Chicago. We usually go to Hot Wok Cool Sushi or other places further into the city. -Not after today! This place was fantastic. The service was great - they were so friendly. And the food and presentation was phenomenal. It blew away any place that we went to before. It's the first place that all 4 members of my family agreed was awesome. We will definitely be back soon!“
“High quality Thai food. Limited menu (no pad Thai) but that doesn't detract from the offerings. Grandma's pork belly is different from your typical pork belly dish. The pork belly is cut into bitter sized pieces and deep fried. Served with the jaew sauce is really delicious. My wife loves coming for the papaya salad and Thai fried rice. The pad siew is also really well prepared here.“
“Very clean and cute shop with wonderful service. The people were very polite and food was quick. I got the orange chicken and it was outstanding. A lot of place use a sugary/ fake tasting orange sauce, but Broccoli has a very authentic and delightful taste. Our appetizers were super good, too. I was in town for a convention but I'd happily drive the hour it takes to get there to eat at Broccoli again.“
“Amazing place, the food is top notch for Vietnamese cuisine, the ambience is nice and relaxing, and also the owner, Daniel, who made us laugh and made us feel so welcomed. You can tell the restaurant is there to serve an experience to their customers. No wonder there are so many 5 stars. We are definitely coming back, and would recommend this place anyone.“
“I eat here often, the food is amazing. Any time I have friends over I suggest going here. They’ve all loved it as well. I think the owners appreciate how much I enjoy their food, and on occasion will surprise me with extra when I take it to go.Highly recommended!“
“This may be my new favourite restaurant in Chicagoland — an opinion shared by my family. We enjoyed stellar food. Even by non-vegetarian standards. The Tom Kha soup and spicy eggplant (which also tastes great mild) are fantastic. The curry we tried was also very good. The soy “chicken” has excellent texture and flavour, whether soft or battered. One plate per person is a reasonable serving size.Dietary restrictions: Vegan“
“Talk about heaven in a bowl. It was my bday week and a friend wanted to take me out. I had seen this video on Instagram of someone enjoying a bowl of ramen with a colossal beef rib and was intrigued enough to see it for myself. The interior had a fabulous island Filipino vibe with greens and oranges. The staff was diverse and accommodating. I spilled my water in the first minutes of my experience, and the staff was so quick and helpful to respond. My friend and I got drinks. I initially ordered Old Fashioned, and I can't remember what she first did, but it was purple, and I ended up liking hers more, so we traded. For appetizers, we got delicious dumplings and the roasted duck bun, which was also super tasty, and I highly recommend it. Regarding the main course, I came here for one mission, the beef Rib Ramen. Words can't fully express or comprehend how delicious this bowl of excellence was. So many flavors of spice balance in the broth accompanying fresh noodles, and laid enormously over the bowl is a four-hour roasted bone-in rib. Upon picking the rib up, the meat fell into the broth as if to say I was ready. It was simply delicious and, by far, one of the best meals I've ever had. The broth and noodles were also excellent and complemented the meal perfectly. My friend and I both enjoyed it as she also enjoyed her meal. Overall, this was the most accessible five stars I've ever given. Please enjoy Bite. They deserve your business. 5 out of 5“
“This is our go-to takeout spot. They have plenty of vegan and gluten free options. The massaman curry and basil fried rice are my personal favorites. You can tell they use fresh ingredients and spices. I've had the chive dumplings, fried tofu, veggie egg roll, cucumber salad. (All marked vegan on the menu which I highly appreciate). The panang curry was waaaay too spicy for me so I'm sticking with massaman. I haven't dined in but whenever I pick up take out, the staff is super friendly and the restaurant has a peaceful atmosphere.“
“Eat Fine is a special place. Not only is their menu extensive and their food incredible, they really care about their community, the service is amazing and they always do whatever they can to help you out. But most importantly, their food is top notch. There isn't anywhere I know of that makes such delicious, fresh tasting Thai food, and I'm so lucky to have it in my neighborhood. You really owe it to yourself to visit.“
“Beautiful interior, delicious food, attentive staff, and fast service. We dined in on a Sunday afternoon and very much enjoyed our experience. We started with the Finger Combo. I tried the crab rangoon and crispy rolls which I thoroughly enjoyed. The only note I have is that it comes with a tiny cup of sweet and sour sauce. The dish could definitely use a bigger serving of sauce to complement all the yummy fried finger foods! The pineapple shrimp curry was perfectly sweet and creamy with a hearty helping of rice. My mom said the Pad Si Ew was tasty, loved the presentation as well. My boyfriend ordered the Basil Fried Rice which packed a spicy kick but was super flavorful. We are excited to have a new Thai place in our repertoire!“
“So good! Finally was able to check this off the list and was worth the wait! Pad Kee-Mao wasnt spicy at all in a good way! My fiancé had Catfish curry which he wasnt a fan of but that was just because he tried something different and the payoff wasnt there. Curry was delicious in his opinion though and not too expensive. Wait staff was awesome & attentive!“
“First and foremost, the staff is hands down the best! Literally the friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered! And I’ve tried a few things on the menu and nothing has been a let down. Usually I regret straying from “the usual” but I never do here. The crab rangoon is the best I’ve ever had, the wings surprised me with how tasty and well cooked they were, the basil chicken egg rolls were bomb (so is the basil chicken over rice), and the Khao Soi is a best seller for a reason!“
“I have an allergy to garlic which is kinda hard to work around at times but the staff basically told me that they will make anything I want work. Super nice and the food was fantastic! Definitely give it a try!Dietary restrictions: If a thai place can work around garlic they can work around anything.“
“I planned on going to dinner there last night (Tuesday) and we found great parking, walked to the restaurant and sadly found out it was closed. As we were about to turn around, Anna appeared and invited us in and cooked dinner.... what other owner would be so generous with her own personal time? We had an incredible evening, great food and the compassion of Anna and her concern for her customers makes us keep going back....Anna's Thai Kitchen deserves a "10." It is my favorite Thai restaurant and every different dish I have ordered has been phenomenal for the quality, freshness and incredible flavor. Anna's restaurant is her heart; she only serves food that she loves! Her menu and her food come from her heart.... open your heart and share in her love!“
“The food is delicious. Im really glad I stopped by and tried the pad thai thai iced tea and the crab ragoon . Everything 5 starts!!! Even if the place is small is comfortable and clean! Best of all the waitress/ cashier/ jack of all trades was so nice and so helpful with recommendations. Will be definitely coming back again.“
“I’ve gone here multiple times and done takeout multiple times. It is honestly a favorite neighborhood gem. The service when dining in is truly great and some of the best in Lakeview!! The food is always consistent and the atmosphere is quite adorable…great for friends or date night - either way! Thank you to the staff! A young gentleman was our server twice and he was phenomenal.Favorites: Shanghai Lo Mein & Mongolian Beef“
“The food is outrageously good and the man at the counter (guessing he is the owner) is wonderful. He’s helpful and welcoming and just a pleasure to deal with. I’m so glad I took a chance. I’ve got lots of decent Thai around me and the menu is a bit different here. Everything I’ve had has been so good.“
“A Cozy Culinary Gem: Delights and Comfort at Chim Thai CuisineThe warmth and inviting atmosphere immediately set the stage for what was to be a memorable dining experience. Nestled in a cozy corner, this restaurant is a haven for Thai cuisine enthusiasts and foodies alike, offering a blend of traditional flavors and a homely ambiance. The Chicken Satay, a dish that stood out for its perfectly grilled texture and the harmonious blend of spices that permeated the tender chicken strips. Served with a side of rich, creamy peanut sauce, each bite was a delightful journey through the vibrant tastes of Thailand.Next on the table were the Pork Rolls, which were nothing short of exceptional. The pork filling was succulent and flavorful, complemented by a dipping sauce that added a tangy and slightly sweet note, making each bite irresistible. The highlight of the evening, however, was the Pork and Wonton Noodle Soup. The noodles, cooked to perfection, tied the whole dish together, making it a profoundly satisfying experience. The restaurant exudes a cozy charm, with its warm lighting and thoughtfully arranged decor, creating an inviting space that complements the dining experience beautifully.I will definitely comeback!“
“Ever since they opened we go out of our way to frequent this place. We have other Thai places within walking distance from our condo but a short drive yields better quality Thai food and wonderful service. Ambiance: The place is super clean which is a plus. If the front of the house is immaculate, I would think the kitchen is the same. The food is amazing. Tiger Cry is amazing and they give a nice size portion compared to other places. Sweet/savory marinated thin slices of beef char-grilled is wonderful. Don't hesitate on the fried shumai- Fried shrimp shu-mai, served with light sweet and sour sauce. Awesome finger food. You can't go wrong with any of the curry dishes. This last round we had the Gaeng Masaman - Masaman curry and potatoes sauteed in coconut milk with peanuts and chicken. Great flavor. So many selections but all have been great! I love the fact you can choose the level of spiciness for each dish depending on your preferences. We go full-tilt hot as hell spicy and it does not disappoint! Pricing is a bit lower than your average Thai places and portions are more generous. 3 dishes for 2 people yields leftovers! Owner is friendly and I can tell he loves what he does and is looking out for the diners. This is the place you want to make sure thrives. Go pay them a visit.“
“Quiet hole in the wall place. Worth every penny and definitely coming back. Satay chicken was perfect, tender and juicy and the sauce on the side is essentially peanut butter with coconut milk. The Nong Thong were fried extra crispy and are really hot when served, definitely wait a minute before grabbing and it comes with sweet chilli sauce, but the sweet chilli sauce is the stuff you can get at the store. Their salad has a nice light vinaigrette on it. Their Tom Yum soup is sour, threw us off initially and if you get it medium heat, it's really spicy and the spice coats everything. The pineapple fried rice is a really large serving, almost seems likes it's supposed to be shared by the table. Again, medium heat is pretty spicy, but on the pineapple fried rice it's a slow build and it lingers for a long time. That being said, the spice is only in the mouth and doesn't burn the stomach.Vegetarian options: Lots of tofu or imitation meat optionsDietary restrictions: Can be veganParking: Parking is a crap shootKid-friendliness: Easy with the spice level, medium is not for beginnersWheelchair accessibility: First floor, no steps“
“We have eaten here twice, once dine-in and later, take-out. The delivery was faster than they promised online, and the food was hot. I can say without qualification that I have never had better Thai in three decades of trying. The flavors in each dish are vibrant and sometimes surprising ... it's an experience I expect at a Michelin starred restaurant, but from takeout. Wtf.“
“Very cozy asian-style noodle spot!I ordered a beef pad thai for lunch. The food was good, but it wasn’t until I added fish sauce and chili at home where all the flavors came out and molded together! I wish I asked for the condiments in-person. The beef was more on the hard side though, I wish it was softer. The portion was bigger than I expected but was the perfect size. I would love to come back and try other noodle dishes on the menu.In terms of service, I was greeted with smiles by the hostess doubling as a server as I walked in the door. Very attentive and very kind. She knows her customers very well. The food came out quick and I was able to get a good meal in while I was in-between classes. The music was great it contributed to the ambiance. I loved the fact that I could also hear the wok sizzling in the background as they were cooking.Parking: There’s a side street that’s not paid but it’s difficult to find parking. Sheffield is paid parking.“
“We hosted our daughter's 16th birthday party here. We were a group of 12 people.Chef Patty went above and beyond in communicating with us before the event to make it special for my daughter and her friends. This is the best Thai restaurant in Chicago, hands down.We also were happy to get excellent service and food.Super nice people and restaurant. Highly recommend it.“
“This is my go-to spot for Thai food in the city. A frequent takeout fave but also excellent for dine-in. It's always delicious with generous portions. The staff are consistently welcoming and attentive.Dietary restrictions: Many gluten-free options, clearly labeled on the menu.“
“Able to seat yourself for dine-in — or serve yourself at the to-go kiosk! Excellent dish choices that do take some time to come out, but that’s to give you fresh and piping hot food! Big portions so be prepared to share or build up an appetite. Finally tried Pad See Ew which I was recommended to try since I love Pad Thai — I was amazed! Also Sala Pao Buns Definitely a gem hidden in the rough!“
“This place has amazing quality food that matches their service. Absolutely loved the spicy chicken Pad Thai and the basil fried rice. We also enjoyed the savory Thai Custard. The people are genuinely nice and it’s such a cute place inside. You’re going to love it!“
“This is one of my favorite places! The vibe here is Thai, and the food is absolutely delicious and tempting. The taste never disappoints, and they have a great selection of vegetarian options. If you're three people, I recommend starting with the veg gyoza and crispy tofu as appetizers. For sushi, the farmers market roll is a must-try for its incredible flavors. And finally, for the main course, I suggest trying the pad thai with tofu and the red curry with a variety of veggies. The staff here is really friendly and helpful when it comes to navigating the menu.“
“I am absolutely obsessed with this place. The shrimp spring rolls are fantastic and I will be ordering the Khao Soi Gai every week for the foreseeable future. It is incredible!! I tried it for the first time last night (having never tried Thai curry) and oh my god. It’s sweet, savory, the chicken is great, and the noodles are perfect! I had my 8 month old try a bite and he loved it too!! The papaya salad is also super good! I will absolutely be ordering from here again next week. Thank you!!“
“I've been to this cute neighborhood spot twice now but have only gotten to reviewing it now. The decor is cute and I like how much sunlight streams into the space, and the service has always been nice and friendly even though it's a small team (we love supporting local + family-owned businesses!). Now onto the food - last time I got the udon pad Thai which I thought was a fun way to eat pad Thai. This time I got the fish cakes as an appetizer and the crispy rice salad as a main. The fish cakes are well spiced and fragrant and I enjoyed them and the little cucumber salad they came with. They have a lot of interesting appetizers so next time I want to try the chive dumplings and/or the shrimp in the blanket. I ordered the crispy rice salad because I saw great reviews for them and it caught my eye because I love a crispy item and the crispy rice puffs sounded so good. They are really great, although the red curry paste def gives it a kick so it's spicy but not unbearable (reference point I am decent but not amazing with spice and Thai spice usually is pretty spicy for me). Definitely worth trying and I've not had anything quite like the crispy rice balls. Such good texture and very fragrant - you can taste the lime juice and herbs. Lastly, I got their taro pearls with coconut milk, which reminds me of the Filipino dessert ginataan. Warm, cozy and perfect way to end a meal especially on a cold day. The verdict is I'm glad this restaurant is in the neighborhood and I would definitely come back and try other things on the menu.“
“This place is so delicious! The food is so beautifully spiced and balanced that I don't have to add condiments to enhance the dishes at all. The crab rangoon actually tastes like crab and not just a "cream cheese puff" which seems to have become a current trend. The salmon tamarind is unbelievable. You can bring your own alcohol without a corkage fee. It's a casual place with tasteful decor and lighting.“
“We ordered take out for the first time and it truly is out of this world! We were able to try *so* many dishes without spending an arm and a leg. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. We are immediate fans and cannot wait to make this part of our list of regulars! THANK YOU!!!!“
“We ordered delivery and called ahead to see if there were vegan items available and the woman I spoke with was great! She was very helpful and even called me back when I ordered something that wasn't vegan and switched my order for me to a special item she made--taro bean fritter--that was delicious! Everything was delicious and I've had non vegan friends say the same. I highly recommend this place! The food is excellent and the service is the best!!Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options and they are very accommodating to vegans also.“
“My boyfriend and I went here for dinner and we had a really great experience! The staff were so friendly and the food didn't take long to come out. We got a few items on the menu and the food tasted great! Besides the food, we also got Thai Tea and Thai Coffee, highly recommended !“
“Some of the best Thai food I have had in awhile. When I am sick, I want some spicy Thai herbs to knock out a virus and this restaurant delivered. Got Covid and all I craved was Thai food. It was soothing, comforting and made me feel better. Staff were so pleasant to work with on the phone and very accommodating. Driver respected my no contact delivery request. The Tom Khar soup was phenomenal - creamy, delicious and all the right spices. Green curry was soothing and smooth. Food was clean and fresh. It was so good I ordered from here 3 times in 1 week while I was sick because that is all I wanted. My sister is now hooked on this place because when she got sick I ordered her what I had and it made her feel better as well. Nothing like fresh comfort food that does not weigh heavy on you to make you feel better. Would recommend giving this restaurant a try.“
“I really loved my experience here! I ordered the fried rice and a crab & cheese (crab rangoons) and it was all very delicious. The service was really good too. I feel like places that are a smaller dining-in area can be intimidating, especially when we were the first party to be sitting in there tonight. But since we were confident and content, it really made for no big deal and there were many others who came in for dine-in/carry-out while we were there.“
“This place was absolutely fantastic! We dined in and got the chive dumplings, green curry with chicken and the cashew chicken and rice. We came in with zero expectations as we were taking a walk around town when we got here and the smell alone drew us in for dinner. The service was stellar, kept joe rob the waters and super attentive but not too much at the same time. It was a very intimate spot, not much seating so if you tend to struggle with sensory issues try to come when not busy or get it to go. The food was so fresh and PACKED with flavor. Really felt like it was the warm respite we needed on a rainy evening. Highly recommend.“
“We love love LOVE Dena Kitchen! Its affordable, large portions, and incredible food. All of the curry’s are amazing (Red is our fave!) and everything else we’ve had has also been incredible. Bonus points for having so many vegetarian options.“
“This evening marks the first time I had an opportunity to visit this cozy, family owned Thai restaurant. It's an incredible value for your money ? and I decided on the Thai iced tea, jasmine rice and huge wonton dinner soup ?The staff here is extremely lovely and helpful and the setting is soothing and relaxing.Right after I finished paying a crazy, homeless man barged in here and started breaking things but the owner was very calm and lead him out the door. I've never seen something ? so crazy before in this neighborhood and I think everyone here handled the incident extremely well considering the chaos.I will definitely come back in the near future to try the other dishes and soups ?I can vouch that the food here is extremely tasty and authentic Thai.“
“I come here for the Bring It On Noodles. This is a soup that tastes like nothing I've ever had. It combines the best of Thai flavors. The soup is spicy, tangy, sweet, savory, and packed with umami flavor. All of the elements of this soup pair so well together. 10/10 for this soup that I have damn near once/week. The owner knows me well at this point. Please taste this soup!“
“I’ve been coming here for the longest time before I go to the movie- The owner is SO SWEET and the whole staff is wonderful- They are always so welcoming and excited to see me! Makes me feel great. SOLID sushi. The special rolls are always amazing- Today had the kiss me I’m Irish roll. Amazing!! You really can’t go wrong!!!“
“Absolutely Love ? this place it’s a vibe and the Food ? is incredible for the Price, people are friendly with a mix crowed which I appreciate. However, the signage… we need a bigger Brighter sign so we can see the location at night… that would be my only recommendation ???✨“
“The ambiance, staff, and food remain exceptional. The surprise birthday celebration was highlighted by the chef. A wonderful experience nestled in an unlikely place. This is my third or fourth visit with consistency over decades.Dietary restrictions: Let staff know in advance. They were great with the lactose intolerant guest.“
“Love this place. They're Thai. Fried rice is phenomenal. I order it at least twice a month. Their sushi is fantastic and you can customize. It's a little hard to find but it's right off the expressway but I would recommend this place. Their chicken satay also is phenomenal. It's so moist and tender“
“I recently had Ruk cater an event and they were amazing to work with- the food is great, they were SO accommodating, and created beautiful sushi trays within my budget. In addition to ordering take out and dining in, I will absolutely be using them for catering again!“
“Went here today with my family.. 4 kids involved… i have to say this place knocked it out of the park. The woman serving us could not have been nicer & more helpful with the kids . The food was great, reasonable prices, clean, great lunch special. We live in the neighborhood and i’m so happy to have found our neighborhood spot!! I also loved how many options they had for veggies rolls!“
“Over the years, Indie Cafe has been amazingly kind and thoughtful in their service, and their food preparations and presentations always go above and beyond all of my expectations. From quadruple-checking whether or not a menu item is gluten-free, to recommending the best wine/sake pairings for an entrée, their staff have always ensured that I've left their restaurant knowing that I was appreciated as a customer. And welcomed as a friend. Maya is hands-down one of the most excellent servers I've had the pleasure of dining with. She always goes above and beyond with her level of professionalism and attention, and her personality is lovely as well! Given the quality of their sashimi, the creativity behind their menu, and the warmth in their hearts? I look forward to dining with them for many years to come.“
“Just as great as I remembered. I ate here 10 years ago often then I moved, now that I'm back in Chicago it's worth the drive from the Southside! Service awesome, good hot and seasoned perfectly. Basil fried rice, crab Rangoon, pot stickers, pad Thai and ginger wings are staples. I hope this place never closes! I wish the take out on 18th was still there but maybe another location will pop up in the future. Til then I'm going to keep taking the 45 minute ride to Berwyn, it's just that good and the service and quickness you receive such delicious food is unmatched.“
