“The food was good, the Margaritas were amazing. We ate at the counter. We were watched 👀 the entire time. Literally stared at and felt totally rushed. I got up to use the restroom and the little handicapped girl reached out to take our drinks. I have nothing against under privileged people working. I want to know why the 2 waitresses let this happen? If there is a next time, we'll be sitting at a table as far from the counter as we can possibly get!”

“I go here often for my girls and for my company. It's usually very quick. There was one time I waited almost an hour for my pick up order and when I asked about it the young lady was very nice and asked me my name. I told her and then nothing another 30min rolls around and I ask her again and she goes and tells another young lady and she comes up and asks me if I checked in on the app. I told her no, I don't have the app. And she said they only go in order from check in on the app. I told her I had told the young lady who was boxing orders my name and then everyone after me had gotten their orders and left, and I was still standing there (with a baby) and she just gave me an attitude. So I left. Other than that one experience, most of my visits are very quick and easy to get in and out.”

“Have visited twice now and both times were fabulous. First visit, my husband and I were out chasing the full moon to get some good pictures and spotted this place on our mad dash. We circled back and stopped in to check it out. Immediately loved the atmosphere ~ relaxed and very inviting. We weren't even hungry and thought we'd just take a gander at the menu and maybe get a take out appetizer but it smelled so tantalizing we opted to seat and have a full dinner. It did not disappoint. So good in fact, when my friend's birthday rolled around I said I wanted to take her out to this great place I recently discovered. With a backdrop of enjoyable music and lovely decor as well as great service and delicious food, Vanakkam India is a real winner. Will definitely return.”

The chicken katsu bento is tender, flavorful, and served on a bed of perfectly cooked rice. The beef rendang, stewed for hours in coconut milk and spices, melts in your mouth, while the teriyaki chicken bento hits that perfect balance of sweet and savory.

If you love variety, their fried gyoza, tempura shrimp, and crab rangoon make perfect sides—they’re golden, satisfying, and never greasy. Portions are generous, and the pricing is almost too good to be true for how fresh and delicious the food is.

There’s limited seating, but that doesn’t take away from the experience—if anything, it makes you feel like you’ve found one of Rockford’s best-kept secrets.

“Had a group of 19 women in for lunch today. Went in last week to let staff know we were coming on Monday at 11 am. I arrived, no tables were set up and I had to help arrange tables. All of our meals were very good. There was a huge variety on the menu choices. I asked our waitress if I might have a gift card ( $10 or $15) to draw from among the women. Was told the manager could not get ahold of the owners to ask if this was okay. Really? Anyway, every 2 months I make a reservation for us all to go to lunch. Never been turned down before. All the food was great. This just rubbed me the wrong way.”

“You walk into a sparkling clean restaurant with a light, breezy but cozy feel. You can either order at the counter or at the keypad. My 9 year old son loves to use the keypad to customize his own poke bowl. The food is fresh and delicious with countless combinations on the build your own bowl. Friendly and helpful staff. Poke Green, keep doing what you're doing because it's perfect!”

“Our server, Jake, is down to earth, personable, and goes above and beyond the call of duty. We visit Chicago on a regular basis since moving to IL, and Jake is by far the best server we’ve met In the area.
Food is great, drinks are generous, and the fried ice cream is just the ticket after a mission burrito. Will definitely be back. Give Jake a raise!”

“On a road trip from KY to WI, Siri guided us here and I am so happy it did. We had Swedish pancakes, Irish Benedict and country fried steak and eggs. All of it was delicious!
