Small businesses like El Forastero are what makes this city great. Great food at a decent price, with comfortable dine-in or outside seating. I’ve had the taco and burrito dinners, everything fresh and delicious. You’ll be happy you came for real Mexican cuisine, not whatever that mess they pass off at certain chain restaurants that claim to be Mexican food. El Forastero is the real deal!
Small, family run Mexican with good food. Menu is not extensive but what they have is done well. I had sopes, which most Mexican restaurants don't offer, and they were delicious with generous toppings.

I've only had the Chilaquiles verdes, Cecina, and coffee, but they are exceptionally good. I would say the Chilaquiles verdes are in the top 5 of all of Chicago. Their beans are really good. Rice is pretty good, too. Great service, very clean restrooms. They take credit cards now. My grandson has the crispy potato tacos here and loves them.
