The staff is polite I usually order inside and give the guy standing in the drive thru 3$.Parking: Most spots near door are for uber eat or delivery apps. Bout 5 spots for reg patrons. Also drive thru interferes with parking.“

The shop is in a restored Pullman executive home, right across from the NPS site, with cozy common seating areas, lots of books to peruse, and historic artifacts from the historic district. The shop raises money for the Pullman House Project, a non-profit in the same building that provides guided tours of period Pullman homes. The Bananas Foster was absolutely delicious with just the right amount of banana flavor and spice. The Bourbon’s buttery caramel notes were perfection. The Cold Brew was one of the best I’ve ever had. Easy to sip or guzzle, the dark roast cold brew was refreshing and so smooth. The menu is full of classic diner dishes, from hearty breakfast options to juicy burgers and sandwiches to homemade soups and salads. I particularly enjoyed the Tuna melt, which was perfectly put together with just the right amount of cheese and tune on white bread. The French toast was also excellent, with a soft and fluffy texture that melted in my mouth. But if you want the traditional, just order the all American breakfast, 2 sunny side up eggs with hash browns and two slices of bread, along with a cup of coffee. Everything is delicious. The staff at De Mar's are friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. They were quick to offer suggestions on what to order and were always on hand to refill drinks or answer any questions. The restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. “First time trying. Definitely will recommend and this will be my go to pan dulce spot! Pan dulce is fresh and delicious! The bolillo is warm, fresh and delicious. I tried the cafe part. I Ordered cafe de olla. For me it was too sweet. My husband ordered the cafe abuelita , also way too sweet. However, I’m sure for others it would be great. just not us. Next time I’ll just stick to regular coffee. The service was good and courteous. I feel they need to expand and make the area a little larger it would make for a better flow. It’s a bit small and crammed. But it’s a small cute place. Oh I almost forgot. Their cheese and jalapeño bolillo is so good! Definitely recommend. Not too sweet, perfectly crusted top and moist throughout. Biker Burrito looked good. My husband says it was quite good and can't stop thinking about his pumpkin latte. He says it was awesome. “The crème brûlée Cappuccino was great ! I added coconut flavor too . The New York Cheesecake French Toast was super amazing !! It really did taste like cheesecake filling . The other dish that I got was the Chorizo Skilet which was super tastey . I haven’t had that style of chorizo before so it was cool trying it . The potato’s inside of it made the dish so much more tastey !! A little bit spicy but you can expect that with Chorizo . Everything was so homemade and exceeded our expectations. I did wait over 40 minutes for my dishes and cappuccino I understand that maybe making those styled drinks is a process and maybe might need a little more staff for the amount of customer volume and to make these dishes . But my service was good and you can see all the workers are going fast and trying . Overall cute place and amazing homemade food .“

Upon turning into the parking lot we were greeted by the valet, which was very reasonably priced and the guys working were very pleasant. We were greeted by the hostesses as soon as we walked in and placed on a waiting list. It was a busy Saturday lunch but the staff seemed to be handling it well. We were sat within 10 minutes in a corner table by the kitchen. Loved the open kitchen, the cooks on the line seemed locked in. The tall young lady in the braids, I assumed was the owner or manager that day was very polite and checked on us a few times. Our server, Daniesha was busy but never skipped a beat. She took our order in a reasonable time and made sure everything was good. NOW FOR THE FOOD: Of course we ordered the pot roast cupcake: it was delicious… the pot roast was flavorful and the cake was sweet which complimented the savory roast well. We ordered: Cajun Green tomatoes, the Oxtail palate with rice & gravy and Mac & Cheese, the Grilled Shrimp & Grits with a side of candied yams. The food came out piping hot, the portions were HUGE, and everything was well seasoned. Being from Louisiana I have high standards about food (TASTE in particular) and honestly everything was delicious. I was very pleased with the size of the oxtail. They were big, meaty pieces and the gravy was so good. My wife loved the flavor on the shrimp and grits and said the yams were some of the best she’s had. Everything was reasonably priced and honestly we had a great experience. Looking forward to bringing my family here when they visit.“

A security detail in the parking exceedingly small parking lot would go along way to securing a five star rating.“

“I have been here many times, and I find the coffee, food, and service exceptional. Mostly young people working hard and always cheerful. The chairs are comfortable, and the atmosphere is laid back. Having read some comments about forced tipping, this has never happened to me. I have always gone inside, so I can't speak for the drive-thru. Inside you are given the option of tipping, either with your card or putting something in the tip cup. I had grown tired of Dunkin', and Starbucks is more expensive and less friendly, in my opinion. For now, the Highland Biggby is my go-to place for coffee.“

“I’m not from this area, I actually live in NW Indiana but sometimes come out this way for work. This is by far the best DD I’ve been too, besides the location in Munster, IN. No matter how busy they are, the line always moves fast, my drinks are always made well, my food is always done fresh (I get the avocado toast) and the toast is crispy but not burnt. Anywhere else the avocado toast is usually soggy or cold. But not at this location. The employees are always so friendly and nice. Never had an issue ever. All I know is that the DD locations in NW Indiana need to take some lessons from the management/staff at the Alsip location because they’re doing something right. “Ice cream is fantastic. I love their Carmel pecan, and their lime and mango sorbets as well. Staff is very kind, I like how they let customers try the ice cream to their hearts content. When you're an ice cream perfectionist like me, knowing only the names isn't enough. This ice cream shop remains my absolute favorite of all times. The workers and staff are nice, sweet and they very fast and will get your coffee ready in 15 seconds even when they are at there busiest. I buy there frozen coffee drink.
