“Even though it was super busy bc of Valentines , service was spot on. Everybody was working so hard to accommodate every table. Food was delicious. We love the fact that it's family run. Everyone is so cordial and pleasant. We keep going back for more. We like sitting at the bar also, Jackie, the bartender is friendly and sweet And efficient. Give it a try!“

“I had seen within the last year that the Supreme Burrito was voted #1 for burritos in Evanston and finally stopped by tonight after a visit to the dog park. The guacamole is perfect in every way: texture, taste - and quantity! I loved my camarones (shrimp) burrito, too. It had big shrimp throughout the burrito, not just a couple tiny ones thrown in to call it a “shrimp” burrito, and had a good mix of beans, grilled veggies and sour cream that all came together deliciously. It will be a regular stop for me!“
“They hook it up with the bowls!!! Can feed me for at least 2 meals, and all the ingredients are so fresh and flavorful. Obviously as everyone has already said, the arepas are delicious, I have also enjoyed thier tacos. Tip, I love to top my bowl with the arepa CHIPS and the pico that comes with it. Never dined in, but delivery is always speedy and everything arrives correct, neatly packaged and hot! I believe the owners moved here from New Orleans, and they have added such a fantastic and fun option to the roto. We literally order every week! These folks are clearly paying attention and care a whole lot about the high quality food they are serving to the community.Dietary restrictions: I believe their menu is largely gluten free.“
“Dropped in for a quick dinner. Was offered chips and salsa immediately, which was delicious.Ordered 3 tacos. Food arrived within 5 minutes! I got the Carne Asada, Crispy Fish and Pork belly. I was expecting the pork belly to be the best one, but it was the crispy fish that had the most flavour!“
“So the food was good but we were disappointed that the salud style tacos didn’t come on blue masa tortilla like it said on the menu and they were unfortunately out of the Empanadas De Yuca which was the thing we were the most looking forward too.Also we were not served any rice or beans which I’m not sure if that is still a thing here but on the menu I have it said this.I definitely recommend the fried Elote it was absolutely amazing an I would definitely get it again.Drinks were good definitely recommend the lavender mojitos and the Mexican mule drink.“
“Tomate Fresh continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Evanston. Considering prices and quality, few restaurants compare in my eyes. There's no in-house seating, but it's ready so fast and it's so delicious that there's no need to linger. (It's also across the street from a park for an easy picnic.) My favorite dishes include anything with their black beans and grilled cheese combination (not a grilled cheese sandwich, but just a glorious pile of crispy cheese). Make your day instantly better with a visit to Tomate! Thanks, Tomate. I love you.Vegetarian options: Tomate Fresh gives vegetarians a lot to consider! In either burrito, Taco, or gordita form, one can choose: tofu, black beans, sweet potato, yucca, spicy mushroom, or carmelized onion filling. There are also, on occasion, vegetarian empanadas and tamales. These veg options don't even consider the quesadilla options (like sweet potato or spicy mushroom) or the salads on their menu. It's a refreshing change from only having one or two veg options at a restaurant.“
“Blue Horse Tavern, Lulu's, Taco Diablo, and Five & Dime are all connected if you were confused like I was originally. When you get seated at any dining area of these establishments, you can order from all the different restaurants menus. Very interesting concept, almost like a sit-down food court in a way, but I think the food and the atmosphere is way better than any food court I have been in. I enjoy the tacos at Taco Diablo (a little expensive, but still tasty), but my recent order of the full rack ribs was fantastic. The house sauce has a strong bourbon flavor, pretty interesting and unique. Great since I was really craving ribs and wanted to try ribs from a place I had never ordered them from before. I was pretty skeptical since this isn't a bbq place, but I was pleasantly surprised! The meat fell off the bone as we were cutting into the ribs, which was already a good sign. Theres a lot of dishes I still haven't tried, specifically from the Lulu's menu, so I'll have to come back and try those out!“
“My go to! I used them to cater a birthday party a few months ago, and after an excellent service experience i’ve been ordering from Big Wig’s ever since! The steak bowl is my favorite. It’s a good sized portion, and consistently hits the spot. The guac is exactly what you need it to be if you like it mild with a zing. Shout out the the Evanston team for getting it right even when I order through DoorDash.“
“One of my all time favorite and go-to restaurants! The tacos are filled with delicious flavors, and something for everyone to enjoy. My personal favorite is the Carne Asada or the Pescado, but I have to say I've never tried one I don't like. On top of that, the interior design of the restaurant is absolutely stunning, with bright colors and fun chairs on every wall. The servers are always kind and friendly, and I never leave unhappy. If you are to hit any restaurant in South Evanston, definitely try La Principal.“
“Our server was Trey!! I had the smash burger and a margarita! Everything was so delicious! I recommend this place to anyone! It is a Mexican spot so getting a burger was sorta strange but once I read the beef was mixed with Chorizo I was sold and just had to try it. It didn’t disappoint. The Guacamole/ salsa and chips were as very tasty! A must try“
“This is a place that is trying hard. By ambience, it is what it is. It's cheap and it is clean.But... cops come to get their tacos here so you know it's good.I went twice during my work visit to Chicago and even took a coworker with me. She was as pleasantly surprised as me.Great quality tacos filled with original flavor. Will definitely come again.“
“I love this place! The food is amazing. The atmosphere is amazing and the art - you have to come by if for no other reason then to check out the original art! Top-notch… I’ve had a margarita here before as well and there are also great- I can hardly ever find a decent margarita. I highly recommend this place.“
