“I had heard a ton about this place and was excited to go. Wait time on a Friday was surprisingly short. Restaurant was busy but not loud. Seating was comfortable.The fried gyoza were a bit limp. They needed a little bit more time in the pan to crisp up the wrapper.The steak was awesome, great quality, lightly seared, fantastic sauce on a bed of micro greens and tomatoes.The sake refresher was tasty. The Tokyo white beer was very good and easy to drink. A great pairing for the meal.We got the monster ramen and the vegetarian miso ramen. It was good. The monster ramen had kind of a sweetness to it which was kind of odd but not unenjoyable. The chili oil is definitely worth the add on. The miso was a bit light, but very good.For desert, jenivees makes their cupcakes. The matcha yuzu cupcake was good, but a little strong on yuzu. But it didn't hold a candle to the ube with young coconut. Probably the best cupcake I've ever had.“

“I was in the area visiting my siblings and was craving pad thai. I ordered a party tray for $60 so i can share with the family. It did not dissapoint. It was so good. “This place, honestly I was blown away. The food is very very good. I got the cumin lamb noodles, the beef fat fries and a cocktail. The cumin lamb noodles were okay. I wasn’t a fan of the lamb but the noodles were very yummy. But those beef fat fries were incredible. Better than Mcdonald’s for sure. I got a piece of the fried chicken to make up for the lamb I didn’t like and it was amazing. Some of the best chicken I have ever had. That skin was delicious. I will be back. I need to try the burger. The service was slow but they were understaffed but they were very friendly. It was dark in there, I don’t know why every restaurant these days is so dark hahah.“
“Went for the family dinner. It's a very intimate space as soon as you walk in. Ethan and staff are so friendly and accommodating. We were greeted with some crunchy thin beef jerky and a spicy sauce. Salmon rillete and fresh spring veggies, followed by an 18 hour crunch potato with tartare and roe (my favorite large bite) a nice scallop akin to me like an aguachile. A really earthy curry soup with fresh hers and sans coconut milk. Then came the fried chicken and sides. The fried chicken was every by as good as advertised with the nice flavor and my kee go to fried chicken sauce (lime and fresh black pepper). A nicely fried fresh fish followed by a huge ribeye. Closed off with a dulce de leche ice cream.It's been my meal of the year as of June 23. I have told everyone to try to secure the very difficult reservation. Well worth the wait“

I’ve been a fan of Uyghur cuisine for a long time and had the privilege of enjoying it in several countries, but this is one of the best places I’ve had the cuisine. I would say this place is a must visit for anyone that finds themselves in the Rogers Park/West Ridge area, as well as for anyone who hasn’t been introduced to Uyghur food yet. They also had a nice selection of foods from Central Asian and Eastern Europe such as Varenyky (Ukrainian Dumplings), that said the Laghman is definitely the way to go.“

“I never really think much of the service and atmosphere ratings here on Google reviews but both at Kai Zan truly were top notch. As a birthday gift, my brother took me to try omakase for the first time, and it was a very cool food experience. Seeing the chefs and waiters and hosts do their thing was like watching a performance. I watched as the staff meticulously reset the table for the next people - everything perfectly placed down to the centimeter. The way they’re able to time everything is incredible too.My favorite of the courses was the very first and the shooters - very unique. The others were good but I appreciated the creativity of those. Very beautiful dishes and we were seated at the bar so we had a front row seat to watching the chefs cook (highly recommend). We also ordered the yuzu cheesecake and ube pound cake (unlisted) for dessert. At the end I wasn’t stuffed but I was content. A really great first omakase experience!“

If you’re not familiar with Thai spice levels, know that they are spicier than western cuisine's. The curry is good and tastes very much like the mild golden ramen brand Japanese curry that I make at home occasionally. The chicken and broccoli added to the standard rice and carrot/potato curry mixture were of good quality. The Tonkotsu had very good pork, and surprisingly, it included broccoli as well. The more common ramen garnishes of onions, baby bock choy, egg, naruto (fish cake), and seaweed were also in this bowl and tasted good. They have a cheese, steak, and jalapeño egg roll that was amazing, and yes, you should try one. Forbidden Noodles is a great addition to downtown La Grange and for this area, this is a good choice for ramen in the area. “Ajwaah Sweets is a nice sweet shop that has all kinds of desi sweets, snacks, savories, candy and good European pastry selection. They also have warm egg rolls, samosas and puffs. They serve puri halwa on the weekends until around 12 noon. We only tried their ladu’s as we just stopped in after dinner but everything displayed was well organized and looked really delicious. And since it’s a BYOB, I chose to pair that with ROAM Hard Kombucha Hibiscus Berry.The salad was very tasty with the dressing being well balanced but light on the sweetness and tanginess. Now… here is where the story takes a violent turn. I DO NOT LIKE TOFU and used to think that it was a food that should have never been made. UNTIL I tried Ninja’s Fried Tofu. It was fried crispy and with a firm yet light and fluffy inside. Totally different than any other tofu I’ve ever tasted. The peanut sauce was a rich pairing for it and was absolutely delicious. Tamako was Tamako, light and fluffy. Then came the Pad Thai and the rolls. The rolls, made fresh with quality ingredients you could taste. Complex yet subtle and definitely delicious! The Pad Thai was nothing short of fantastic! I asked for medium hot and they nailed it! It was lightly sweet and spicy and very tasty. Well balanced and not oily with good sized and plentiful shrimp.The presentation on every dish was beautiful and colorful and artsy.
