I stopped by the Glen Ellyn Metra train station for some coffee, and got a surprise. It was a real pleasure talking to Mary, who is not only selling great coffee and scones (more tasty and affordable than the chain stores), but working with other stakeholders in the space to keep the building clean while also maintaining a vegetable garden on the grounds surrounding the station. Better to grab coffee or whatever from here before hopping on a train than getting something from a corporate big chain. It unexpectedly is pretty okay coffee if you can believe it. Next Stop is located inside the Glen Ellyn station. Has to be the best Metra station to get coffee because the others blow. There's also pastries made on site and from Blackberry Market. Craig sold Next Stop. I am so depressed. The lady who bought it seems nice enough, but she didn't know what kind of scones she was selling, couldn't accept my credit card, and didn't offer to warm up my scone like Craig always did. I live in Winfield and used to go out of my way to commute from Glen Ellyn because of Craig and all the heart he poured into this business. It looks like those days are over.
