Went Saturday night to Merlo's in Glencoe for a late dinner with my son. We were traveling from out of town and took a chance on Merlo's. I made a reservation online for its latest slot and we arrived about 7 minutes early. I could see only 4 other tables seated who looked like they were almost done with their meals but we were greeted in a friendly way at the door with"we were waiting for you" and our reservation honor. This was our second time dining here and the experience did not disappoint. The drinks were great, especially like the espresso martini. The sausage and peppers appetizer is amazing as is the fresh bread they provide. Our meals were wonderful. This time we tried penne Bolognese and the chicken piccata. No room for dessert but next time we're going to try the cookie in the cast-iron pan.

We had the best experience at Merlo's the other night. The baked clams were the best I have ever had!! We sat at the bar for an hour after dinner and loved all of our drinks. Great food, great value.
