“Can’t beat this place for ribs. Been going for decades. They still fall off the bone they are so tender. Service is great, lovely dining room across the street from Diamond Lake. Good wine list and extensive menu. We would go more often if it wasn’t so pricey but it’s our go-to spot for special occasions.“

“This is an absolute hidden gem of Mundelein!!! Everything is seasoned so well, delicious food, priced fairly, great service. We have tried so many Mexican restaurants all over town and this is hands down the best. We’ve eaten here lots of times- the tacos are always amazing, tortas, burritos too. I’ve had a few of the Mexican classic dinners. Never any complaints. Check it out!!“

“Deserves more than 5 stars. Emily S is one of the best servers we've ever had. She remembered that I didn't like mustard from a previous visit several months before. She remembered the sides and drinks I liked from previous visits and made recommendations accordingly. She's been friendly and outgoing each time she has been our server. We always ask to be seated at one of her tables. Tonight we had the Goat Cheese Wontons, the Whiskey Shrimp and the Bison Filet. My husband had already made up his mind to NOT like the wontons, but after I forced him to try a bite anyway, he proceeded to continue to eat two more. We've never been disappointed in the food, the atmosphere or the service and will continue to go back. The Shanty has become one of our favorite places.“

“This place has never missed the mark with service in my experience, and I frequent at least once a month. The drinks are always cold, fresh, and reasonablypriced. The food is delicious and fresh as well... my favorites are the smoked wings, cheese curds, beer nuggets, and chicken pesto sandwich. The staff is uber friendly and it felt great seeing many of them take the time to greet me (while I was on crutches) after a couple months hiatus (since I was injured). “They have a great outdoor patio that often has live music. They have a menu you can order from and also grilled corn and burgers that they make outside. The owner comes by to say hello and you really feel welcome. Off to the slide they have playground equipment, basketball, and volleyball.“
