“In reading these reviews, I'm wondering if some of these people are going to the same place that I'm going. Dean, at the door, is absolutely wonderful. He always makes me feel welcome and calls me by name. Ben is new and as I've gotten to know him he is so super friendly. He sees me coming in. He comes over and personally greats me. I've never seen a manager that actually carries food for the bartenders and helps them to keep up with the bar service. He's great. The bartenders are so outstanding. Liz and Kristen are on the ball and when not working with customers are cleaning and arranging and doing exactly what bartender should do. They're super friendly and are always there with my drink when I want it. This is my to-go place on the way home from work. When I stop in midweek, Alex is my bartender and he makes the most wonderful blueberry lemon drops. During the week when I'm in there, he'll come out of the dining room and over to greet me and asked me if everything is okay. He's a wonderful bartender server and all around friendly person I stop in for a drink or an evening of fun. The food is fantastic. I have never had a a bad meal. I always eat at the bar but Yessica has gotten to know me and always comes by and greets me and asked me if it had a good day.“

“We have been searching for decent “Chinese” food since moving to mchenry 8 months ago and NOTHING in the area was even close to being good. This was the first time I’ve had it since moving and I can FINALLY say we found the place. The egg rolls were so good, which is usually my biggest test on a place! The beef egg food young was also great, no big chunks of onions either. It was a good portion of ingredients, and the flavor was spot on. My husband had the chicken fried rice and orange chicken and he said it was really good - he usually says “it was fine” whenever we get Chinese, so this is a big compliment coming from him. The service getting the food was quick and still warm when we got it. I do remember coming here years ago, and remember it being really a great atmosphere and really good. So luckily with Uber Eats, we were able to have it delivered. I am thrilled to say I FINALLY found my go to spot!!!!“

“Came here for a quick bite with my husband and the bar area was busy! Sat there anyways. Teresa, the bartender, did a great job at managing all her patrons! My husband and I both ordered bloody Mary's and they were yummy. For lunch, we told Teresa we were splitting a plate, and we'd ordered the teriyaki salmon wrap with sweet potato fries. Teresa was kind enough to split this meal onto two plates rather than have us fighting for room or it sitting between us. I thought that was so thoughtful! Let me tell you, the salmon was SO DELICIOUS and fresh! I was nervous the sundried tomato wrap would overpower the salmon but it definitely was a side note! The sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked and simply amazing (I normally do not like them, but this changed my mind!). My husband also ordered the unstuffed red pepper soup and it was by far the beat I'd tasted. The Shanty is absolutely one of my favorites!“

Service was good and pleasant though robotic and somewhat forced. The gentleman refilling water was superb and always on his game! We never had less than half a glass full---much appreciated! We came to Chrissoulas, having read excellent reviews. The food was good, including the pasta with chorizo and octopus and gyro. The pork medallions were only three, however, with a whole lot of salad, leaving one guest in our party inadequately full and value for the money poor. Menu options were overpriced in general though not outrageous. Two televisions playing sports over the bar did not seem in keeping with a fine dining establishment, but rather with a sports bar. Overall Chrissoulas was a decent experience with good food but not deserving of the amazing reviews seen elsewhere---a solid 3-4 stars out of 5.“

To them this means Saturday and Sunday.We visited on Saturday and ordered 3 birria tacos. I got a plate woth 3 tacos on it but no consomme. I asked at the counter. The young woman walked in the kitchen. There was a hushed conversation and she eventually returned with a little bit of consomme in a styro cup. One of the other women came up and told me "We don't usually give the consomme with the birria tacos. We'll make a special exception this time."I have ordered birria all over this country. LosAngeles, Dallas, Houston, most recently in Franklin, KY. It has always been served with consomme. I've never had to ask for it. I am put off by this. El Rey del Pollo Asado makes good tacos, burritos, and charo beans and I'll be back for them. But is there really any reason to order birria if you have to beg for the consomme? I brought this up to a couple of my Mexican colleagues while we were at lunch and they confirmed what I felt. You order birria. You get consomme.“
