“This place is in general a really, really awesome place. The service is insanely swift, they get your food out real quick. The atmosphere is top notch, may not be the biggest but the decor and feel is just really cool. The food of course, is also next level. They have such a unique array of food, subs, bowls, shawarma, tacos, subs, gyros, and a bunch more. The food was really well made and fresh, and of course pretty tasty. Also had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was very welcoming and responsive to our needs. The lady who served us also had a cool personality and making sure we had everything we needed. “They hook it up with the bowls!!! Can feed me for at least 2 meals, and all the ingredients are so fresh and flavorful. Obviously as everyone has already said, the arepas are delicious, I have also enjoyed thier tacos. Tip, I love to top my bowl with the arepa CHIPS and the pico that comes with it. Never dined in, but delivery is always speedy and everything arrives correct, neatly packaged and hot! I believe the owners moved here from New Orleans, and they have added such a fantastic and fun option to the roto. We literally order every week! “Tomate Fresh continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Evanston. Considering prices and quality, few restaurants compare in my eyes. There's no in-house seating, but it's ready so fast and it's so delicious that there's no need to linger. (It's also across the street from a park for an easy picnic.) My favorite dishes include anything with their black beans and grilled cheese combination (not a grilled cheese sandwich, but just a glorious pile of crispy cheese). Make your day instantly better with a visit to Tomate! Thanks, Tomate. I love you.Vegetarian options: Tomate Fresh gives vegetarians a lot to consider! In either burrito, Taco, or gordita form, one can choose: tofu, black beans, sweet potato, yucca, spicy mushroom, or carmelized onion filling. There are also, on occasion, vegetarian empanadas and tamales. These veg options don't even consider the quesadilla options (like sweet potato or spicy mushroom) or the salads on their menu. It's a refreshing change from only having one or two veg options at a restaurant.“
“i recently moved to the area and was looking for mexican food, and so i decided to try this place from google maps. i ordered the steak burrito special with rice and beans for takeout, and it was delicious! the burrito was big and the steak was seasoned well. i was pleasantly surprised and excited to have found a great mexican place nearby. this has become my go-to, and i will definitely be back often!“
“The food is always excellent here but we had not been in in a while. Last time was outdoor weather on the roof so sitting downstairs in the dining room feels a little tight. Took a bit to get our order in but food came quickly - we were too hungry to photograph most of it. The lomo saltado was my favorite, the steak cooked very tender, not salty tasting, just pure beef. The pictured lamb chops also very nicely done. We liked the octopus tinga on tostada, the eggplant toasts (montadito), and some empanadas as well.Menu prices are a little high even with food inflation.“

“Our server was Trey!! I had the smash burger and a margarita! Everything was so delicious! I recommend this place to anyone! It is a Mexican spot so getting a burger was sorta strange but once I read the beef was mixed with Chorizo I was sold and just had to try it. It didn’t disappoint. The Guacamole/ salsa and chips were as very tasty! A must try“
“Food was delish, felt super rushed by our waitress who kept constantly appearing to take our order while the ladies hadn’t reviewed menu or were trying to catch up. I did enjoy a cocktail at the bar solo and had a nice chat with the young bartender. Overall a little noisy. But good experience overall.“
