I would seriously put Lance as one of the best bartenders in the world. Yes, we will be back. Sad thing is, when I go other places, they won’t compare. “Overall Thoughts: I went to Amaru for 2024 Restaurant Week, and it had lovely vibes, solid food, and friendly service all around. My friends and I got the cheaper $42 dinner option and felt the value was good— we were stuffed and satisfied afterwards. Out of all 3 courses, the dessert was definitely the weakest, but I really enjoyed the other two courses!- Course 1: Requeson (4.6/5): The soft cheese was delicious; it was creamy and slightly sweet, pairing nicely with the slightly spiced salsa.- Course 2: Mole Y Leon (4.5/5): This was my first time having lion’s mane mushroom, and it was great! The texture was stringy and chewy, and the seared flavors were strong. The yuca was crispy and tasty, and the mole was rich and earthy.- Course 3- Espresso Tres Leches (4/5): Definitely lacking relative to the other two dishes; the cake wasn’t moist enough in my opinion, and the flavor was kind of monotonous.—Price (relative to peers): 4.2/5Food: 4.4/5Ambience: 4.9/5Overall Value: 4.5/5“

It had 4.6 stars so we decided to check them out, and we were so glad we did! I had the steak jibarito which lacked no flavor. The steak was marinated in mojo or vinegar I'm not sure but it was sooo good! My boyfriend had the steak sandwich and loved it as well. The service was awesome! The owners were very nice and talked to us while we ate. We tried their chips with HOMEMADE guava sauce made by Ana ?. Definitely a MUST TRY! It was a lucky find as he was getting to know his new neighborhood and thank God he shared it with us. We've eaten in, gotten take out, but no matter which one we choose they always give great service. I've tried brain tacos from them (that surprisingly taste kind of like eggs), but our favorite is to order multiple pounds of the carnitas. It's SO good!! They give you fresh made tortillas, cilantro, onion, lime, and pico. Sometimes in the summer they have people right out front with different flavored Agua Frescas. If you're going to do carnitas be warned they do sell out, so try to get there early if you can. (Sorry my pictures aren't great this time)“

“Porkito is such a great addition to the neighborhood! Finally something different AND delicious. After seeing the restaurants post that was shared in our Community Facebook page, we decided to give this place a try! As a family who does not eat out often, we typically stick to what we know but couldn't pass up the opportunity to try something new. We decided to get takeout and went with two orders of the sliders with all different options so that we could try [almost] the entire menu of sandwich options in one fell swoop. The only two flavors we have not tried yet are the Cubano and the Big Green but out of what we had, there was not one that we did not like! Our personal favorites were the Hawaiian and Buffy with the Sauzee and Jammy following close behind. We also got our kiddos the Tater tots which were perfectly crisp and flavorful and for ourselves, the loaded tots. Everything was delicious with no complaints! Fortunately, us straying away from the regular few places we frequent was a success and we will happily add Porkito to that very small list. We plan to actually eat in the restaurant sometime soon so that we can try it fresh and have the full experience without the delay of driving it home and letting things sit for too long... But even still.. We really enjoyed everything!“

The whipped ricotta is a GAME CHANGER! Just one complaint was that the staff told us when we got to the rooftop that it was a 30-45 minute wait for a table or there was room at the bar. The bar had no stools open and people were standing. The only room left at the bar was by the dishwasher. Took us a while to get a bartender’s attention. Luckily my boyfriend sat down at an open table and the staff came over and said that the waitress would be right with us and she was. Super nice girl. It was just annoying because we were told it was a wait but there was really no wait. Weird! Other than that, there was a live DJ which was cool and the other customers were really friendly and fun! There were people dancing and vibing. Will be coming back.“

“The food is very delicious and the prices are low compared to the quality of the food and surroundings. In service, if a little more attention is needed, I am referring to the spirits of the waitresses, they need like life or having a red bull before starting to work, the rest is very excellent!“

“I'm from Louisville and we don't got any ecuadorian restaurants there so any time I go to Chicago I go here and since the day I was born they have never disappointed on my soul. This is the best ecuadorian restaurant u will ever find.“

“If you're looking for Latin American food products like Goya, etc. this is the place to go on the north side. Also, the restaurant in back is great for Latin American dishes. Whether you like Cuban, Mexican or some other country, you can probably find the product you're looking for or the already prepared dish in the restaurant. I recommend“
