“Few months late! Came to Penumbra for Valentine’s Day and it was such a great choice. Ambiance set was really intimate, requested the private curtain area ahead of time and it felt like we were on our own place. Felt like a family owned place. The food and service were equally as good and on our way out an employee handed us a small rose shaped soap and thanked us for dining in. We had the bocaditos quesadilla which was the best version of a quesadilla we’ve had, shadow shrimp, a flat iron steak, and surf and turf. We ate/loved everything.“

Everything else was tasty too! The agnolotti was on the sweet side which was different but still good. The bok choy was a bit too smoky for my taste but still good. The crème brûlée lacked some flavor but the salted caramel ice cream and crispy bits on the chocolate dessert was delicious and I'm not even a chocolate person. For wine, I got the orange wine (mellower one) and the still rose. Both were good! My husband got the Chianti which was also good. We would def come back! They also have a good happy hour specials so we will try to come for that.“

“The atmosphere was more casual & rustic than expected (basically a heated garden shed), and the menu is small, but the food was amazing. The brussel sprouts were delicious. The trout was very good, but could have used a heartier veggie pairing like potatoes. Their Bad Romance cocktail was one of my favorites. I probably wouldn't return for a while since the majority of their menu is red meat and cheese (which I don't eat) but perhaps when their menu is updated seasonally, if they have a different seafood option. The back patio looked nice for warmer weather. (Note it is quite a small venue with only 1 bathroom.)“

“This is an amazing grocery store in the heart of Lincoln Square. They have a great selection of groceries, the second floor adds in a large wine liquor and beer selection, and finally the butcher can't be beat. From fresh cut lamb chops, to as many brat varieties as you can think of, to freshly made pasta salad, they have it all. A must visit if you are in the area!Parking: Limited amount of spots available in the front of the store.“

“Tonight, the Wife and I asked for a table of 4, saw multiple tables open. Host replied with "Looks like we're not going to have table free for the rest of the night." Our 2 friends walked in about 5 minutes after us for a table, Host proceeds to not automatically deny them and asks the servers. Servers apparently had a problem with having another table until another server came worked it out. Finally, Wife and I walk back in to join our friends and overhear 2 servers discussing with the host about not seating anyone after 9pm (they close at midnight btw) Great to know that you wanting to close early is more important than actually doing your jobs and making easy money (we only got drinks and 2 apps) Pathetic, will not come back. The food was really good, the service was so friendly and fun, and the ambience is neighborhood gem. They do substitute for gluten free pasta and the nood was perfectly al dente. They used Slagel Farm’s beef, and SHARP cheddar cheese instead of American. I love cheddar over American cheese any day. First time to Logan square and it was charming with the wide boulevards. They have a daily happy hour which was awesome, we got mussels and cocktail shrimp for a really good price. It is very family friendly, they were very kind to our toddler. Something about… the original owner was tragically shot and died on the premises, in the bar. The wife shuttered the place and went upstairs for sixty years. The new owners kept the interior, the bar has original wood work and features. It is o. L. D. In a good way. I have no idea if that story is accurate or true. But I loved believing it while I was in there. What a great thing to be so surprised by a bar on division in wicker park! I love Chicago!“

“Sherard and Stephanie are the best. They alone are a reason to go and enjoy the great food and atmosphere this place creates. But if you do go, you must try their New York strip steak, delicious and cooked to perfection along with their truffle fries. Their cocktails are also very good, strong. “I was looking online for good deals on wine tasting and came across this place. I'm so glad I went to check it out! The ambiance is super nice, big windows and plants and lots of wood decor. It has a very local, casual vibe, and many of the people there seem to be regulars. I went for the wine tasting, which they offer every Thursday from 5-7pm. The tasting costs only $5, but it is free with any purchase. We bought the red wine cheese set for around $13, so we got our wine for free. They also kindly cut and arranged the cheese for us, and it was perfect for two people. We got to try four wines: Italo Cescon Pinot Grigio, Schild Estate GMS, Viva Valentina Sangiovese, and Chateau Kefraya Les Breteches. The GMS and sangiovese were definitely my favorite. It was a really great experience! Everyone was really friendly, the price was incredible, and the wine was high quality. I definitely hope to be back here.“

“I travel a lot and work in the food and entertainment industry, I have dined at Vincent everytime I am in Chicago for Brunch on Sunday (the Broadway Showtunes Brunch is so fun), Dinner on Thursday and a Friday night. Wed & Thurs. are great for a quiet meal and the staff are so friendly. I frequently see that same staff everytime I visit so clearly management is doing something right with keeping the good ones. The food is elevated but not pretentious and everything is fresh. Other places in Andersonville not the case. Vincent is clearly the best restaurant in the neighborhood. The cocktails are some of the best I tasted that are well balanced with fresh juices and the price point is the same as any restaurant in the area. The only problem is they taste so good, it seems pricing but then you realize you had four or five cocktails. The wine selection is fantastic and unique mostly European varieties from France, Spain, Italy and Austria/Germany. Their glass pours or bottles I can't find in the store because our server informed us that they only work directly with distributors who have direct relations to the small vineyards. I had oysters on the weekend but when I asked for them on a Wed. they didn't have any because they said they only fly them in fresh on weekends. The bread was incredible which they make in house. I also love the live entertainment on Friday nights and Sunday evenings which is free and some of Chicago's top cabaret performers, some who I have seen perform in Palm Springs, on Crystal Symphony Cruises and in New York. My favorite go to in Chicago for a neighborhood, fresh made food and cocktails at a reasonable price point with very personable staff.“
