Discover where to enjoy delicious Mexican dishes in Mount Vernon.
“Solid all the way around--went in because it had the highest rating in the area (4 stars), and it did not disappoint. It appeared clean, decor was nice, and the service was attentive. The house salsa was decent--seems like 85% of Midwestern Mexican places serve house salsa that tastes more like marinara than salsa casera. This one actually had more flavor than the usual tomato, orégano, and tex-mexy cumin that you find in a lot of places. The salsa picosa (spicy) that I asked for was even better--homemade with a good amount of garlic and cilantro. For my entree I got the Pollo Cancun, which is grilled chicken strips on top of rice, covered with queso dip. The chicken was tender and tasted fresh, same for the rice and queso. As an added bonus, the corn tortillas were high-quality, chewy, and not falling apart, like the usual supermarket ones. Definitely my go-to Mexican place in MT. Vernon.“
“I was wondering what I was going to eat for dinner, and the answer was right across the street. Fantastic food and good portions. I ordered mine to go and had a soda with chips and salsa. Good job on the salsa. They made a non seasoned chicken breast for Milo, and I had the seafood dish with chorros for dessert.“
“Agave is my family's "go to" restaurant when we're wanting Mexican food in Mt. Vernon. I can't remember going anywhere else over the last several years. I usually get the chicken fajitas, and they're always delicious. Even when they're busy, I don't remember waiting longer than 10 or 20 minutes for our food. I'd recommend Agave to anyone wanting an authentic Mexican experience in southern Illinois.“
“Whether it’s accommodating our rather LARGE family for Sunday lunch, grabbing a quick meal after a weeknight ballgame, or enjoying a spontaneous date night without the kids, we know that we can always count on El Ranch to serve and provide for our family well and always make us feel right at home!“
“My wife found Casa Raya on google while looking for a place for us to have dinner while on a long road trip. It was exactly what we were hoping to find and much better than we expected. We had different kinds of taco plates, Mexican guacamole, shrimp ceviche, and of course the complementary chips and salsa. The food was fantastic, the amounts were generous, the service efficient, and prices very fair for the quality and quantity. We make this trip from time to time and have found our go-to restaurant for lunch or dinner whenever we are passing through—and will plan out trip accordingly.“
