Giostra, South Barrington's newest Italian restaurant, has made a grand entrance with its modern take on classic, old world Italian cuisine. Located in the Arboretum Mall, this chic eatery boasts a mix of wood paneling, white brick, olive trees, and red accents that create an inviting atmosphere for small and large groups.
The menu offers a wide variety of options, including 10 types of pasta, 16 main courses, and 5 choices for dessert. The arancini, crispy artichoke hearts, and shredded Brussels sprout salad make for great appetizers, with the arancini and artichoke hearts being thoroughly warm and well-seasoned. The sauce for the artichoke hearts may not have been served at a consistent temperature, but the artichokes themselves had a nice fry on them.
For entrées, the pasta dishes are a standout, with the tagliatelle with Parmesan cream sauce, peas, and truffle ham being a particular highlight. The ham had a nice smoky flavor that permeated every bite, while the pasta was cooked to perfection. However, it was occasionally prone to ripping, and the overall dish was outstanding.
Other notable dishes include the Gnocchi Alla Sorrentina, Fusillioni, Fabio's Wagyu Meatballs, and Bruschetta Romana. The service is also top-notch, with knowledgeable staff who can help guide you through the menu and wine list. The restaurant is also equipped with a wide selection of Italian wines and specialty cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic options like pop, which is available with free refills.
Giostra has also implemented some innovative technology, including online reservations and the ability to pay your bill using the Toast app. Overall, this new addition to the area is sure to impress, with its delicious food, exceptional service, and chic atmosphere making it a must-visit destination for foodies and Italian cuisine lovers alike.
