“Very quirky little place. It's a small house converted to a restaurant. Not a lot of ambiance, but food is wonderful and always comes out piping hot. Reasonable prices, generous servings. Take out is an option, too. They don't accept credit cards just cash or personal checks.They don't sell alcoholic beverages, but you are allowed to bring your own.Parking lot is small. In pleasant weather there are, often, customers outside waiting for a table, but worth the wait.One of my favorite places in Springfield!“

“Stopped here driving through illinois and decided to try out these subs. There was a queue but Bob was patient and calm. Was definitely worth the wait ! I had the el Italiano and my wife had the egg salad sandwich. Both well balanced and filling. Would highly recommend !“

“Now this is one real sandwich place. This pastrami was great. Fresh bread! And unlike the chain sub shops, who will remain nameless, there's way more meat and fixings than bread. And believe it or not the staff here actually look you in the eye and smile. Great job to whoever runs this establishment.“

My wife had the turkey bacon ranch on French and I had the beefeater on French the sandwiches were exceptionally delicious, so much so we went back the next day for lunch. She had the Rueben and I had the el italiano, highly recommend the 1706 Sangamon location, it small and in a small strip shop setup, the place was clean and neat.“

“My favorite place to go for subs. I wish they did delivery, I'd get it more frequently. I only get 30 minutes for lunch and by the time I get over there, get ordered and get back, I've gone over my lunch by 20 minutes (I've tried it more than once and am late every time) ? anyway, subs are amazing, the sauce is where it's at! Plus. It's one of the only places I can order a whole pickle haha“
