I used to go to the Checkerboard to hear a deejay on Friday and Saturday nights. A father and son duo alternated nights. One was "DJ Bubba" and the other was "Doctor Chicago." They played oldies and it was a great atmosphere. This was around the turn of the century. I recently went back after being away and it's still a great place to relax. No more oldies I guess, and that's a shame. Oh, for the old days.
