“After trying this place recently I have been back mutliple times. Nearly every menu item I tried was outstanding. It's hard to find their menu online, as their website apparently has virus or malware issues, and they are not particularly active with updates on social media. Everyone with whom I have interacted, including the owner, has been warm, inviting and appreciative of guests. I have always enjoyed my experiences. As someone who loves great cocktails, I did have a mixed experience. This is admittedly my own pet peeve, but I am not fan of cutesy drink names. I like an Old Fashioned to just be called that. It was a great drink though. The "Nanhattan" was also delicious, though I would maintain that it too was an Old Fashioned, as banana liqueur is more a replacement of simple syrup than of sweet vermouth. The "Dark Side of the Moon" cocktail on the other hand was a huge miss, being sickeningly sweet. I also noticed they charge $32 for a 1 oz pour of Blanton's bourbon (which I have seen priced from $18 to $30 for a 2 oz pour at other restaurants around the metro). Hopefully over time they will fill out the bar shelves, which are currently very sparse, with more options. The food presentation has been inconsistent. The first time I tried a short rib (no longer available) it was absolutely perfect. The next time I had it, the crispy herb leaf was missing. It's a small detail but it was such a fun, tasty addition the first time. Similarly, the aloo chaat, which is even described on the menu as featuring smashed fingerling potato, was absolutely delicious the first times I had it, but on a later visit the potatoes were served unsmahsed. This completely altered the texture and was not at all enjoyable. My wife was a bit bummed out by the very sad-faced leopard behind the bar. Despite my commenting on some negatives, I actually love this place and suggest that everyone give it multiple visits.“
“Food and cocktails are exceptional. A nice variety of small plates and larger meals. Especially love the paella to share. The saffron broth and smoked Andouille sausage is so good. The smoked old fashioned is expensive but worth it. Veritas is my new favorite restaurant.“
“I came here on a Friday evening for drinks and appetizers. We each ordered a wine flight and shared the bruschetta. Every flight had a creative name and description. For example, the vegan white wine flight I ordered was called "No Eggshells". All three wines were refreshing and delicious. I do have to say that the wine flights are on the pricey side, ranging from $25-$50. However, it is a great way to try a variety of wines. You could also order a bottle of wine to share that would be about the same price. The bruschetta was tasty; we were able to choose three different toppings. We chose the smoked salmon, classic tomato, and burrata with honey. Overall, this is a nice spot to meet up with some girlfriends or for a date night. The seating is comfortable, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the wine and appetizers are good.“
“Based on my son's recommendation, we decided to try this Fortune Wok. We had a very good experience. Service was great, and portions were large. My only complaint was with the Egg Drop Soup. It was not as rich and flavorful as others I have tried. It had bits of chicken and carrots and was just OK.“

“March 2024Following a show at Aztec, it made perfect sense to return here with my wife and parents. They never disappoint. Lovely atmosphere, always very friendly staff, and beautiful food. I enjoyed the lobster bisque but was especially blown away by the lobster pasta. Wandering Vine’s chef is truly creative and I greatly admire her colorful original plating.June 2023My parents enjoyed Wandering Vine so much that we were all excited to go back when they were in town over the weekend. Funny enough, we ate at the same table where we sat last time. This place certainly has a unique charm to it, with a nice atmosphere that you won't quite find anywhere else. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and our service was wonderful. I had the braised lamb shoulder pasta. It was cooked to perfection and the flavors were fantastic. The toasted pine nuts were a nice touch. The only thing I would have changed is substituting the edamame for something else. It added nice color, but it was a little too much crunch for my taste. My wife had the special, which was goat cheese cavatelli pasta with crab meat. Absolutely delicious. My dad enjoyed the filet mignon and we all enjoyed our wine flights--one of my favorite things about this restaurant. Mine included wines from Argentina, France, and Washington. We didn't save room for dessert, but we did get a taste of the gazpacho, which was very flavorful with a nice kick to it. They are rotating their menu in a few weeks, so definitely reason to return.Feb. 2023Had dinner here with my wife and parents and we LOVED it. Sometimes it can be hard to find a place that satisfies both of my parents but we all thought the food was delicious and original. The staff was extremely friendly and professional as well. “Great dining experience! We sat at the chef’s counter and it was so cool to sit in front of the fire and watch all the food being made. The waitress was friendly and professional and made some great recommendations. She recommended 5-6 plates for the two of us. I highly recommend starting with the Clara Bow rolls. They are as good as everyone says they are. The croquettes and the bone marrow were also two of our favorites, but every dish was amazing and well presented. Overall, we may have found a new favorite restaurant in KC. Can’t wait to go back. Be sure to makes reservations as the place was quite busy. “I went for Sunday brunch and everything was spectacular. I shared the esquites, queso fundido, and ceviche, and for my entree I had the chilaquiles. For dessert, we shared the arroz con leche, and I would recommend everything on that list. Drinks were tasty and refreshing, and the service was excellent. 100% you should eat at this restaurant, Roman creates excellent dishes and takes his time to plate the food beautifully. You can tell he cares about his food, restaurant, and customers.“
“This is a super cool book bar. My book club meets here once a month (make sure to make a reservation for large groups as seating is limited). They have a large cocktail and cocktail menu (both are delicious)! This is primarily a drinks bar, food is limited to a few prepackaged snacks. You can also buy some of your fav books here. For parking, I would recommend the garage next door. It has reasonable prices and always has lots of spaces and it adjacent to Afterword.“

“Lovely new wine bar and restaurant in the River market. We visited on a busy Saturday and had about a 15 minute wait to be seated outside. There are two separate outdoor patios with a combination of umbrellas and awnings. The inside is quite spacious and we could have chosen to sit inside immediately. But why would we want to do that on such a beautiful day! Hostess took our name and texted me when our table was ready. Our waitress was knowledgeable and pleasant, the meatball subs were excellent, and the atmosphere couldn’t be beat. We sat outside with a view of the hubbub outside, and enjoyed watching the streetcars go by. My husband and I feel like these are the best meatballs we have ever had. I asked about bringing a large group for lunch and was told they are open for lunch on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They do take reservations for larger groups. There is free parking during the week in the area where the market is located on weekends.“
